Very nice, Rob ;)We got's ta do somethin' about them night lights eh?All these lovely (lit) buildings are wonderful but when the sun goes down this black fog rolls in and ya can't see much. Besides, dawn and dusk are my favourite flying times!PS Sorry about the disks - excursions, sailing, band meetings - it's all too much. Last night I managed to mix ONE sound sample for the Dash-8 :-( And my UK is shaky :-( :-( I'll have to read all the 'readmes' again!:-waveJon Point*************************([email protected])*************************

In the UK region, with malfunctional ATC the AI enhancements have caused some elevated blood pressure tonight. I take off from London City and crash into an aircraft that's just sitting at the end of the runway. Then I fly to Gatwick and make a perfect landing. Only problem is that some jet has parked in the middle of that runway...Unless we get a functional ATC for the UK the AI should do their thing off the main runways. Actually, at London City some Mooney just taxied right through my aircraft as I was planning to enter the runway for take-off. Hey, how about some etiquette? :-)Random AI without proper ATC does create quite a few incidences.Hans Petter

Nice tip, Jimmy!Nice shots too! Can't wait to get my UK happening. BTW, I usually change the brightness and contrast for my screenshots too! My reason is that, running FU3 in a darkish room I use the gamma adjustment to get good 'black' whilst leaving the monitor set up for daylight use. This is just a tradeoff 'coz my flat's pretty bright (Nth East/Nth West aspect - Southern hemisphere!) and I have to have fairly bright settings for daytime work. Without the gamma adjustment I'd need sunglasses at night :-kewl Ah, dunno about removing outterr. I've done a separate install just for UK, without outer terrain at all. Maybe just try moving the 'outterr' folder somewhere temp…

During my web search for airport pictures of Sandown and Bembridge I discover the memorial page of the Dakota G-AGZB of the Channel Airways that crashes in bad weather near the top of St. Boniface Down over Ventnor. See the page at http://www.farvis.com/ventnor2.htm and read the full story of last flight 'NO RADAR ON SUNDAY'. After reading I decide to make a memorial plane for the UK-South region using the last Version of Ansgar's DC3. Create the new version using Gideon's ResViewer. http://www.agtim.ch/fu3/images/DC3GAGZB1.jpghttp://www.agtim.ch/fu3/images/DC3GAGZB2.jpgThe last seconds of the last flight of G-AGZB march 6. 1962 http://www.agtim.ch/fu3/images/CoombeBottom…

Last night I was supposed to be checking for clashing airport frequencies, but somehow forgot and went flying over Lundy Island again. Now that we have a basic string of airports from west (far far west!) to east, its very nice flying short legs between them - Lundy, Plymouth, Southampton, etc. Congratulations and thanks to all of you airport builders - keep up the good work! But Lundy is spectacular - I was so busy worrying about the models last time that I forgot to enjoy the island itself - its beautifully sculptured and the feeling of driving off the cliff towards a host of sailboats and microlights is scary. Excellent work Agtim and Glidernut. And I'm sorry, I never di…

Hi guys,I'd like some taxigraph help. How do you define where planes "hold short"?I need to hold traffic some way away from the runway as the traffic is queing on the run off area and not where the taxiway joins the runway. All comments (except rude) appreciated. Also how do you stop the taxiway edges appearing and disappearing as you change views etc?Any other tips??Rob (currently learning by doing his first UK airport!)

As mentioned in other threads, we rapidly need to define exactly which airports are going to be included in the UK region. This will allow all UK developers to be more constructive (and avoid duplication). It will also allow us to come up with a new set of ATC and airport sounds, specific to the region e.g. replace 'Seattle Approach' with 'Heathrow Approach' etc. We can only modify the resource files if we know that it won't be changed later because it's so much work in the first place!Initially, we just need to nominate the controlled airports but it would also be good to start nominating frequencies for smaller strips as well. If we are careful, we can share Unicom freq…

FU3 modeller's tip #3186: Remember what units you're working in!In the endless 'metres to inches' and vice-versa, combined with using different programs, it pays to write down what you've done! How's the 13 metre props eh? I recently landed at San Carlos airport in the SanFran region. After contacting Ground Control, I was told to "taxi to parking via Alpha, Hotel...hold short runway 30". The problem here is that I was already on the correct side of the runway. This happens every time that I land at this airport.Has anyone else experienced this ?I have since moved the parking spot to the other side of the runway, but I have not tested this yet.Chris Low,ENGLAND.

Dear fellow FU3 developers,Just a short note to tell you that Matthew Allen, creator of i.Mage has released an update on his site:http://www.memecode.comFor those that are unaware, iMage is a freeware grahics editing program that allows creation, editing and conversion of images using the PSP palette, as used by FU3. This makes it particularly handy for creating model textures using the original FU3 sanfran or seattle palettes. You get more predictable results from 'makemip' or 'fixmip' as the image is already colour-corrected - no nasty surprises ;)It is also indispensable for creating new aircraft liveries as you can create a 'best-fit' palette, based on your 16 or 24-b…

I have uploaded a new version of FixMip, a program which converts GIF graphics image files into MIP files, the graphics format used by FU3. This version now supports:NIGHT LIGHTING: Create a picture of the object at night in your favourite paint program, then use FixMip to make the MIP version which is installed with the model (BIN) file into your GENLITEMAPS subfolder.EXACT MATCH: a new algorithm for matching colours, which gives a better final MIP colour balance. This option can be switched on or off - try it!CORRECTED MIP TRANSFER Seattle/San Francisco: FixMip 3.0 had a bug which prevented taking a texture from Seattle and converting it to SanFran's colour palette.
