When starting out at the UK South region's London City I get a strange display anomaly. The image below shows what I see looking straight ahead. If I look right or left everything looks fine but then, when I look forward again I see a segment of the latest left / right view in the front view. Luckily, things straighten out the moment I start moving. Any ideas?best regards,Hans PetterLondon City on LSD:http://forums.avsim.com/user_files/10577.jpg

Had to try and share this.I logged a flight plan Sea to Olm. Requested vecotrs ILS to Phoenix. It's going to be a long flight; but worth it I know. The sceneries spectacular and Ansgars' 747 is magnificent . Only wish I'd set the weather to sunset.http://forums.avsim.com/user_files/10609.jpgThe Beechjet radar screen has "+/-" to increase/decrease range. How is this done with the 747 radar? I looked in the Flight3 manual and keyboard layout hoping for a keyboard hot key for it, but no go there. As you can see I was "stuck" at a display of 25m throughout the flight.http://forums.avsim.com/user_files/10614.jpgYou all take care,Jim B.

I have just realised that a fictional package called Port Gamble was included in my Seattle 2003 pack. If anyone is looking for any packages to delete in order to try and get this pack working with outer terrain scenery installed, then this is definitely one that I would recommend discarding. I disposed of it months ago :-)By the way, I have just made modifications to my TENTH airfield since the release of Seattle 2003 and SanFran 2003. This was Sonoma Skypark, and the work done was an improvement to the taxiway section very close to the threshold of runway 26.Chris Low,ENGLAND.

I'm getting a bit confused about the polygon limit for aircraft models. In most places on the board I've seen the limit being set at about 1800-1900 polygons, but the White Paper suggests it is as low as 600. Is the 1900 limit for each of the three detail-level models (gear up/down, damage) or is that the absolute limit for all models combined?Cheers,Rich.

Hmmm... Looks like a new glider club in Sanfran (I suspect they're connected with the ubiquitous GliderNut School but their aircraft are unmarked).Their aircraft aren't all new but they offer a good selection... http://forums.avsim.com/user_files/9316.jpgThey even let me take one for a spin ;)http://forums.avsim.com/user_files/9317.jpgI'd forgotten how nice this is!http://forums.avsim.com/user_files/9318.jpgA sign of things to come maybe? :-waveJon Point*************************([email protected])*************************

Does anyone use the haze method of specular highlights in FU3 ?I've been experimenting with various settings in flt3.cfg and when I specify specular for the haze effects, although it improves performance, I still occasionally get black clouds and rather bright edges to the higher level clouds, which according to the readme file says that the driver is not handling it correctly.I know my card (Geforce2 GTS) supports specular highlights, so I assume it's a driver issue. I am using nVidea's 30.82 now, but was using 29.42 before and get black clouds on both (every now and then).I'd like to fix this, so does anyone use a driver which does NOT give these nasty black clouds ?Tha…

Since there are now hundreds of new models available, it can be difficult to find the model you want. Below is an attachment that lists additional models for the UK-South region:http://forums.avsim.com/user_files/9081.txtThis only lists models not in the original LGS San Francisco distribution. The file contains:FILE NAME OF MODELSIZE OF MODELAUTHOR (mostly left blank - I don't know the early models but probably 90% or more were Captain Bazza's)DESCRIPTIVE NAME OF MODEL (eg "plane", "car" - a short identifier of type).I hope this helps people to hunt for what they want. And if anyone wants to help build this into a RUL (Really Useful List) by plugging the gaps, that would…

My existing 250Mb zip drive is becoming next to useless as a backup drive. Inserting the disks has become a nightmare of "insert, eject, insert, eject......." until the drive finally acknowledges the existence of the disk. As you can imagine, this isn't particularly amusing, and so I am considering a replacement. Since I have a CD-RW in my office PC, it makes sense to add one of these to my home PC (thereby facilitating the transfer of large files between the two PC's).Bearing this in mind, I would just like to know if there is any particular routine that I should follow when doing this. Currently, my zip drive is the D: drive, and my DVD is the E: drive. If I remove the …

I have just uploaded Seattle 2003 and SanFran 2003 to the AVSIM FU3 file library. They should be available for download within the next 24 hours. These are now the only two Chris Low packages available. The others have been removed so that some of the old guys here don't get confused :-)Chris Low.

For all you guys who develop airports I have found a very useful link, hope I'm not duplicating info.http://www.ais.org.uk/aes/pubs/aip/html/aipad2.htmThis link takes you to the National Air Traffic Services AIP (Aeronautical Information Package) page where all UK airports are listed and there are detailed diagrams, taxiways, ILS, frequencies and basically all the info you need about the airport.you need to register (for free) at the home page and it takes a day or two to come through but its worth it when you get there.Hope you find it useful.Andy

Well, I am happy to report that FU3 is now working perfectly with Windows XP.....using 4xS FSAA and 8x anisotropic filtering, and Nvidia Detonator 41.09 drivers. At the moment, I have decided to stick with DirectX 8, since I am well aware how notoriously difficult it is to "downgrade" DirectX if anything goes wrong.Interestingly, the Detonator 41.09 drivers allow FSAA and anisotropic filtering to be set from the Display Settings in Control Panel (4x FSAA and 8x aniso). However, the graphics quality is clearly superior if this is done using the latest version of RivaTuner. Therefore, installation of this utility is recommended for anyone with a GeForce 3 or 4 graphics card…

I've been tweaking the Big Red Baron for hours now. At first I was a bit puzzled that the changes I saw in the ResViewer window didn't seem to "take". I launched flights in SanFran as well as Seattle and everything looked like it did before I made the changes. I even added some very conspicuous color panels as a test -- they showed up fine in ResViewer but not in the sim. I used the PropEditor to get the back of the blades properly colored but they showed up as black as before. Finally I copied the entire aircraft and pasted it into my stand-alone UK South version of FU3. Voila! Everything I'd changed and tweaked this evening showed, exactly as I'd seen it in ResViewer. I…

Well, my first attempt to install FU3 resulted in a total failure. The install process reached somewhere between 15 and 30 per cent, and then the PC just shut down.....instantly. When I re-booted, the install program assumed that FU3 had been completely installed (which was obviously not the case). I am not a happy bunny :-)I decided to format the hard disk and re-install everything, although I realise now that I could have booted up from a system restore point ! Would this work ?Anyway, I would also like some advice on another point. Every time that I insert a zip disk, XP activates this stupid AUTOPLAY feature. It scans everything on the zip disk, and then activates a w…

  21. Jon,Coupeville NOLF is NOT a "fictional strip". NOLF is short for "Naval Outer Landing Facility", and I have definitely seen a photograph of the 5000 feet by 150 feet runway. I am pretty sure that it is now closed though.By the way, the sound file associated with my version of Coupeville NOLF is "Oak Harbour", so you are getting the best of both worlds.Chris Low,ENGLAND.

Well, it seems that my recent return to the small airfields in FU3 has kick started my desire to upgrade everything. In short, I think that it's about time that all of those grass strips in the Seattle and SanFran regions that are currently marked with dotted lines need to be improved. What I would like to do is place cut logs along the length of each strip (and any small taxiway sections), so that it is much easier for bush pilots to actually SEE the runway ! We all know how notorious those dotted lines are for not appearing until after touchdown, so I have decided to do something about it.I may also use some of the fence models that are available (probably to surround p…

Well the Railway is finished - you will have to come and meet my Waterloo some time. But I'm holding off uploading for the moment, taking some time to touch up the older London scenery models a bit - stretch London Bridge, fix little bugs etc. In that way when I upload it, you will automatically install the improved scenery models without having to go through the complicated process of loading FLED, removing the old models, installing the new, reloading FLED, placing the new models in their correct location and orientation, all of which is a bit of a hasslehof. So please be patient! Anyway, the market is deluged with new packages and models at present! Also thanks to Ansga…
