    Got the glider packs installed, and everything is rosey in that respect, but FU3 seems to slow down to about 16 or 17 FPS when there's a few other gliders in the sky. I'm running an AMD xp1700 with a geforce3 and 512 DDR. I would have thought this was plenty to run such an old sim. I have got stuff turned up, but again, thought the sim would cope well. Can anyone tell me if there's anyways of speeding things up (I bet turning the clouds down is one, isn't it - though I seem to remember the skies empty when I was gliding).How about distant mountains and haze?Can anyone tell me what's best to limit to get some better speed out of the sim?

    Sorry if this appears as a double post, but I thought I'd posted a few hours ago, but now I come to look, can't see the post anywhere.Basically, I've got back into FU3, esp the glider. I've never really flown it before, and after a flight yesterday, really enjoyed it. I know very little about the principles, though, except you have to catch thermals. Can someone help me with a few points. What's the best altitude to get upto before switching off the engine, and where should I look for thermals. I kind of figured on valley bottoms, but I'm damned if I can find them.BTW, was there a glider in FU2, and if so, was it towed? Or was it FU1 (with the little red thermal indicator…

    OK, I see a lot of posts on graphics cards and drivers and this begs me to ask some questions. I too see "steps" on the horizon, and "shimmering" to the extent that some of the areas, particularly towns, dont complete drawing until I have flown over them.I have a Nvidia TNT2 graphics card with 32mb of onboard mem. I have loaded 43.51 drivers and tried to tune using the latest atune from the 3dguru site. I set the recommended overclocking option but it doesn't seem to make any difference.I can only set filtering on and dont get x4 or x4s only x2.Not being a PC guru, but I suspect that I am in serious need of an upgrade to enable me to improve the filtering options and ther…

    Hi all, and time for some more help please.Well, I am finally happy with my layout for Lydd airport and have all runways, taxiways, apron and of course, Glidernuts hanger in place and ready to go. I did have some problems with "Taxigraph", but so has someone else and there is a post which will help, but.........When I leave my parking spot and head down the first taxiway, I sink.My plan, all but the tail, disappears for about 20 metres and the slowly re-emerges. I guess this must be something to do with elevation of the map??? but can someone help be to get it level.And finally, how do you "label" a taxiway so that Ground gives you "Taxi to park via Alpha, November, Charl…

    Jon,Okay, it appears when the plane.txt file is generated by planeunlimited, a .seg file is also created, which is nothing but the flight model file sans comments. After many failures and variations of failures, I edited the .seg file and used restool, successfully! But, only once, I could not replicate my success with another .seg file, even starting over and seemingly performing the routine identically to the first.Small note: I had edited the "boost," but that was only what the guage displays in manifold pressure, and not the correct value.Here's what I do:Copy bravo.res to desktop.     I'm working on the London City airport, adding models made by our talented Australians. I was just going to test fly a Dash 8 by one of the talented Australians and the buildings in the background are by courtesy of the other one :-)Anyway, the purpose of this post is to focus on the AI planes. And I was thinking, now if only there was a 3D patch, like some of those old games have, that would make it all a lot more bearable. I donlt suppose anyone knows if there is one out there.     1. In the following image of the UK region, there are some cone shaped trees very close to Southampton which appear to be untextured.     I can't seem to use any of them. I limit it to one on the map, and the fields load, but then, after a few seconds, the thing locks up and I have to esc. This lands me back on the desktop. I've not got too many on the map, I'm trying them individually.Any ideas as to why this would happen?

    I installed the Nvidia Detonator 44.03 drivers a week ago, and used RivaTuner to set the anti-aliasing to 4xS, and the anisotropic filtering to 8x. However, when I started up FU3, I noticed that these features were not working properly. The distant mountains had that annoying "stepping", and some of the terrain textures were shimmering a bit. I am pretty sure that some level of FSAA and aniso was being done, but nowhere near as good as it should have been.Anyway, I decided to uninstall these drivers (with the help of a little utility called Detonator R.I.P.), and install the Detonator 43.51 drivers (which Jon had mentioned were good, and also my version of RivaTuner appar…
