No, I'm not talking about aircraft here. This refers to those towers with the flashing lights on them at small airfields. Not every airfield has one in the default install of FU3, but I would like to know if they should. If not, then does anyone know if there is a reason why certain airfields have them but others do not ? Are they only located at airfields that are authorised for nocturnal activities ?Chris Low,ENGLAND.

Hi to all FU3 fans! Here's a preview of the Blanik L-13 I've been working on. These are only outside views, some preliminary inside views have already been posted. The inside views bogged me down for a while but, with no small assistance from the Kingpin of the gliding industry himself (Glidernut), I have enough suitable material to finish it now :-) I know that there are no markings (apart from the red nose), but the guys did such a good job of taping the fabric and polishing the alloy, they wouldn't let me near her. I'll wait until they're gone :-lolThis project has taken me a while to get going because I had to work out a suitable launch method - it's an 'unpowered' gl…

I got FS2004 today and just installed it but I haven't played it long enough to tell how good it is.So now that the new FS is out, what are your opinions on it? Improvements? Is FU3 still the best sim? ;) We're all FU3 fans here and have about the same ideas of what should be in a flight simulator, so it would be interesting to see what other FU3 fans think about FS2004.

I have current built part of the Tigermoth, that is to say the fuselage and part of a wing (built of seperate objects). Currently it looks like it was built by a nearsighted drunken blacksmith but I learn as I go. I would like to know what it would look like even in its currently highly premature state rendered in FU3. What are the steps required to take a 3DS model to a FU3 aircraft model. Thanks, QvdG

I seem to have another missing sound file. This one is called ship_wake.wav. I would be grateful if someone could e-mail this to me as soon as possible.Chris Low,ENGLAND.

Since I've repalettized a lot of Seattle models and made a few new ones for the UK it would be a good idea to upload them. The easiest for me would be to upload my entire UK south GEN but I just noticed that it comes out as 18.5 MB zipped. Evidently, most of these are files that you have already but a total upload would ensure that I don't make any mistakes and inadvertenly cull some new models (BINs or MIPs).I'd appreciate some feedback on this since I've grown pretty insensitive to file sizes myself since I got broadband :-)Hans Petter

Is it possible to increase the amount of fuel available in the Beech at startup. It comes up at about half full both tanks.

All, From reading the posts that have appeared in this forum, there seem to be quite a few enthusiasts around with quite a background in programming etc.Has anyone looked at or thought of the possibility of running FU3 under conditions similar to VATSIM where you can interact with live controllers and actually fly with other pilots using the same scenery and visually see their aircraft on your screen. I realise that it would require disblung the inbuilt ATC but I doubt that would be a major hurdle. I note we have a few posts from users who also run FS2002/2004 and I presume they have possibly dabbled in this aspect of FS with programs such as SquakBox.:-hmmm

I was just looking at FS2004, but I'm still married to FU3(it's OK to look, right?), and I was confused by the system requirements. I didn't buy it, but for Windows XP it asked for 128mb of ram and for Win98 only 64mb. I have 512mb so I'm OK, but does anyone know why the two operating systems have different memory requirements? I am running 98se, but have Xp, and just haven't loaded XP. I don't read every posting and so I'm not up on all that goes on. I got the impression that there are some problems with FU3 in XP. Is this correct? Is XP a better OS for sims, etc...

Tom,I noticed that you mentioned something on the Racing Fools Forum about a FURF chat room, so I would just like to clear something up. Do we join #fu3 or #furf on Saturday ?Chris Low,ENGLAND.

It be that time again... I hope we have better luck than last time.We will go for a 14:00 EDT "official startup"... but show up when you can. And cross your fingers that they don't melt down the server again! :)

Hi all,I am fishing for ideas again on my next problem.I am designing filton as you know and I am experiencing the tower controller handing me off to ground before I touch down.I haven't pinned it down yet but it happens close to the threshold usually when I threaten to undershoot! There was some parking nearby and I thought FU3 thought I was too near that but I removed it and I haven't overflown any taxiways and yet tower stills palms me off.....wouldn't mind but he usually schedules a C5 up me b*m before I have chance to clear....In fact I want to sack him!Anyway...ideas from anyone?Robs.

Maybe I missed somethingHow do you set time of day in FU3?

I need you to update your versions of FIXMIP. I have found a bug in the program for small texture files. Also the new version shows nightlighting effects - making it easier to see what you are doing. But to get you to do this, I have used a clever marketing strategy of throwing in a free (FREE FREE FREE) fuel truck (BP-logo), designed specifically for Luc and his Cardiff package. Now don't laugh at my poor little fuel truck. Fuel trucks are not my area of strength (due to a lack of squareness), but in a dark light from a great distance, this one resembles one very closely. And you can use FIXMIP to make a night-lit version of it! Now there's a challenge. All right, you can g…

I know that many users of FU3 that have the outer terrain scenery installed have problems when using all of the packages in my Seattle 2003 pack. This is almost certainly due to having too many airport icons in the Seattle and OT areas combined. What I would like to know is this:-HOW MANY AIRFIELDS DO YOU NEED TO REMOVE TO GET THE REST TO WORK PROPERLY ?I have already removed the FLYING H RANCH package from the upcoming Seattle 2004, and I am also VERY LIKELY to remove the PACEMAKER LZ package, since this clashes with one of LGS' "extra" airports (I am keeping the package, since it is being extensively upgraded. If anyone still wants this after Seattle 2004 is released, t…

Perhaps anyone who is intending to join the chat on Saturday could post here, with information on when they intend to appear. That would give us all an idea regarding this chat's "potential" :-)I will probably be there at 19:00 BST (14:00 EDT; 20:00 throughout most of Europe).Chris Low,ENGLAND.

You know, I'm going to be REALLY happy when I finally complete my latest batch of airfield upgrades. Night after night of adding trees, positioning logs with laser guided accuracy, deleting dotted lines, adding tractor tyres, swearing at FLED........it all gets a bit much sometimes. I have a list in front of me at the moment with a total of THIRTEEN airfields on it, all of which still need new runways constructing (and by this I mean adding logs and/or tyres), which is something that is likely to take me another week to ten days to accomplish. Then I need to go back and start adding other bits and pieces to ALL of the airfields that I am upgrading (we're looking at around…

Why can't I access the web based chat system ? I never had any problems before the server crash, but now it doesn't accept my username as being valid. Previously, I simply entered my nickname as "ChrisLow", and my real name as "Christopher Low", and everything worked. Why the **** doesn't it work now ? :-)Chris Low,ENGLAND.

Here are a few more screenshots of airfields in the process of reconstruction. I have completed the tree upgrades in the Seattle region, and I am now working my way through adding logs to the runways and parking areas at most of the small airfields. When this is complete, I will start adding a few fences, hangars, fuel tanks, light towers, fire towers (where applicable) and pylons.I still have a LOT to do :-)1. Close up of the runway and new parking area at Kapowsin Field.2. Flying B Airfield, showing the tree upgrades, runway logs, and modified parking area.3. The upgraded Sorrell Airpark.Chris Low,ENGLAND.

After upgrading my pc to an XP2400 with 512mb DDR memory I was lured to the dark side and installed FS2002 pro. The graphics are great, but it is no FU3. I am unhappy with the ATC, the lack of virtual cockpit for most of default and add-on aircraft, and the cockpits in general. I have redoubled my efforts on the Big Red cockpit and updating my Baron cocpit as well. I also have an R rated passenger for the Baron just for laughs, although it will not be included in the uploads. I never really left FU3, but always thought it better to be silent and thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt.

After thinking about this, I am going to remove some logs from some of the airfields that I have already upgraded. They could quite easily be removed without introducing problems for the landing virtual pilot, particularly if the runway end logs remain in place.....and I don't want anyone to think that I can't be flexible :-) Would everyone prefer that I keep the dotted lines, and just have a couple of sets of large logs at each end of the runway to facilitate "lining up" ? I will also very likely keep the log defined parking areas, although some may have fences around them instead. To be honest, this suggestion has opened up the possibility of ALL of the airfields getting…
