It seems that the batch file that was included in the SanFran 2004 pack (the one that is supposed to flatten the terrain at two airfields) is not working properly. This is just a note to say that Hans Petter Roverud has kindly uploaded a copy of my SanFran geotiles.tag file to the FU3 file library here at AVSIM. This has been split into three separate parts, plus a small batch file that is needed to join the parts back together again.Since the file is around 19Mb in size (even when zipped), it would have taken me nearly an hour to upload with my 64kbps connection :-eek Fortunately, Hans kindly offered to use his broadband connection to speed up the process :-)I have also …

Sorry for the off-topic, but I just thought you might find this interesting, when not unbelievable. On June 2nd, Avsim's news page informed about a just released "Moscow Global Scenery" for FS2002, from a Russian company called "Simulation Software Workshop" (www.simsoftworkshop.com). Later, on July 30th, another piece of news informed about an update for the same scenery. Well, I've always been interested in a good scenery for Moscow, and at US$18.95, it didn't look bad, so I went for it.What is unbelievable from this story is the buying procedure. First of all, I sent my c/c details as usual, and all I got in response was an e-mail with a printable receipt. No downlo…

Hi all, I have been encountering some problems with my AI setup for UK south for sometime. It seems to crash on startup 1/3 times (serves me right for fiddling). Could someone please send me (or post) a stable version of the relevant files.Thank you kindly, :-waveCheersQvdG

Jon,Here is the AT6 that my friend photographed, parked next to a primo DC3. These aircraft belong to Clay Lacy, who owns an executive jet transporation company. These are just some of his "toys". The DC3 is kept in "better than new" condition. http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/42004.jpg Unfortunately, the project didn't work out. The lighting was insufficient, and unavoidably rushed. Though there are some decent photographs showing some detail, like the landing gear, some interior shots, stuff like that, the straight-on, well-lit side/back/front views didn't happen. There are about 120 shots. If you'd like, I can copy them to CD and snailmail them to you. Let me know.…

Hi all, After having restored the firewall of the DH82 (the model is less seethrough now) I thought I would go for a spin. With my trusty map in hand I took off from andy's excellent Lydd airport to see if I could find a field call Lashenden. Tracked north to Ashford and followed the train line west and there behold was Lashenden. This is why I just love this sim :-). Unfortunately nobody told me the runway end was a bog.By the way I am fiddling with the flight model (and I really mean fiddling). Stearman mailed me restool but it would appear that I need resdef.h as well. ThanksCheers, QvdG

Dear FU3 Scenery Developers,Just a note to let you know about some new models in the library. They should be available within 24 hours. For your scenery creating pleasure, there are:* Two different glider trailers - Keep your glider shiny.* A winch truck - Gotta get up there somehow.* A bridge - over untroubled waters* A new, larger conifer - Like stree3a but taller * A hayshed (with hay)* Heaps of tyres - For marking strips, taxi areas etc. * Some new hangars - One large, one small, doors open and closed! * A parked L-13 model - Some friends to go gliding with, or to busy up your field. * A Lunak glider - More glidin' buddies...* A power pole - Low voltage, wooden. Useful…

Finally this morning I have uploaded Lydd into the Avsim library so it should be available soon. Please make sure you read the "read me" file. There are lots of models in there that I have borrowed from other packages so you may already have them.I discovered this too late for the package. It shows RWY22 as having ILS with a freq. of 120.0. This is not correct. There is no ILS. The real airport is currently having this installed and this will implemented in version 2. Please let me know as a reply to this post if you suffer any problems and your general comments and suggestions will also be welcome. Thanks to Rob Driscoll, Jon Point and Glidernut who have taught me lots and…

Hi fellow FU3 pilots!I recently trawled through the CAA database and managed to find *all* of the currently active airports in the UK South region that we don't already have. I've uploaded a set of packages to the AVSIM library for you all to try. I'm hoping that this will stimulate many more airport designs, as all I have provided at this stage are the locations, and in some cases, basic taxigraphs. I will post Birmingham and Cambridge when I've finished them...!I've tried a few of the airports in-game, but some suffer from the same 'wet runway' problem that Heathrow once had, so feel free to update the classifications if you like...hopefully this can be done for an impe…

We started early in the morning at Easton State. The thermometer read 25 Fahrenheit but it really felt colder.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/41215.jpgThe sun rose and we took offhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/41216.jpgThe lakes aren't frozen, due to the relatively low latitude. Yet, there's powdery snow on all the coniferous trees, making their wintergreen hue appear a lighter hue of green. You may also note that there's no snow in the outer terrain. That's due to the lower elevation.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/41217.jpgYes, there are mountains! I spotted a large, furry ape-like creature here but somehow it doesn't show in this screenshot. http://forums.av…

Hi, I recently got FU3 reinstalled and running after a brief hiatus. I have two questions for guys: 1) Is there a way to turn off the intro sound when FU3 is first started? That flyby noise gets kind of old after awhile. 2) Is there a way to remove some of the downtown Seattle buildings or convert them to lower poly objects to conserve frame rates? Robert Williamson

Just got these, maybe we could some of this in FU3.After every flight, pilots fill out a form called a gripe sheet, which conveys to the mechanics any problem they had with the airplane during the flight. The mechanics read and correct the problem, and thenexplain in writing on the lower half of the form what remedial action was taken. The pilot reviews the gripe sheets before the next flight. Never let it be said that ground crews and engineers lack a sense of humor. Here are some actual maintenance problems submitted by Qantas pilotsand the solutions recorded by maintenance engineers.By the way, Qantas is the only major airline that has never had an accident.(P = The pro…

Dear All,I have a problem. With FLED. Oh, that's normal? I know, but this is weird :-eekI have a 'rogue' package that WHEN I REMOVE IT, FLED and FU3 both crash. Put it in and they both work fine!!I've opened it and deleted absolutely every single model in it but the above still applies. To be truthful, I thought I had removed it (but hadn't) then created another package in the same area. Now, unless I remove BOTH packages, I have this problem. Is this a matter of deleting (or editing) a resource file somewhere? Please help, I want to release my glider package (without having to rebuild it AGAIN - some of you may appreciate what I've been going through...):-waveJon Point****…

Now that new terrain is available, and many major airports and packages have been developed/upgraded, I think it's almost time to pack the update CDs. I think it would be useful to "freeze" the situation; I mean, we decide that everything that will be ready in, say, 2 or 3 weeks, will make it to the CD; other things won't be included. I think we should set up a "time-limit". Then, the developers should concentrate on fixing the eventual bugs but without adding new major things (models and such), so it's easier to clean the GEN folder and to integrate everything. Otherwise, if people keep adding models, features, packages and such, it'll be almost impossible to coordinate …

Dear FU3-ers,I have been working on a whole batch of new sounds for FU3's UK-South region, and have completed the ATIS portion. It is in the alpha testing stage (it's not perfect but it workes just fine), so if anyone would be wonderful enough to try it out for me before I release it, I would be very grateful. Please email me and ask for the files. I can't send the whole updated file as it is 14 MB, but the zipped WAVs+resviewer script are only 1.4 MB so that can be emailed easily. However, it took about 35 minutes for my 2GHz machine to import the script so if you have a slower computer you may want to pass on this one...CheersDave

The new version of Stansted was prompted by Cristian's visit there a few weeks ago. Based on his photos, I have been able to fix a few hangars and locate the radar. I did some serious upgrading all over the airport while I was there, including approach lights, landscaping and the main terminal building. I hope you enjoy the improvements! Roland beta-tested for me, and also of course did the original AI, so I have named him as co-author on the package - his contribution has been invaluable. Thanks Roland!Looking ahead:I have made some little villages to the east but have not included them in this package, because of one problem. This package was designed to be self-suffici…

Osborne House! This is a beautiful manor on the north of Isle of Wight, with private beach access, accommodation, receptions, and the most amazing gardens around it. From here you have access to garden tours all over the Isle, with pleasant walks and idyliic scenery. You would have to be crazy not to visit this place.I've never been there. But now for the low low price (this is a one-off, never to be repeated deal) you can visit for free! I have just uploaded a model of Osborne House and some of its garden complex. The main reason for this upload is tourism. I can see IOW falling into decline through neglect as people head for the bright lights of Lydd. So in acknowledgeme…
