Well, I have just made my first ever approach and landing at the updated Ranger Creek airfield in my Seattle 2004 pack.....at 6 frames per second :-eekI really must get a new PC :-)To be honest, I'm not really sure whether I like the updated version. Hans suggested that the tall trees just beyond the runway 33 threshold should be removed....until he realised that there really are trees this close to the runway. Mind you, I have only just discovered that the landing AI Renegades fly through these trees :-eekMaybe it's just the low framerate that is the reason for my uncertainty. What does everyone else think ?Chris Low.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ENGLAND FOR WINNING THE RUGBY !!!Special congrats to Andy, RobS, Chris, David and all of the other English supporters of FU3. But also to the excellent players that came over here to defend their record and departed with the goods. Hey, can you guys loan us Aussies a good rugby coach for a year or so? In return, we'll loan you a soccer coach.Cheers, RobD.

Does the default Diamond Point airstrip have runway and taxiway lighting ? If not, then I must have added the taxiway edge lighting, runway edge lighting, threshold lighting and REIL lighting for my expansion packs. The problem here is that it all looks a bit excessive at this small airfield. So, do you think that it would be better to remove all this lighting ? I don't want the airstrip to look completely unrealistic, and that runway edge lighting looks a bit daft on a strip only 20 feet wide ! Having said that, I'll have to check the tarmac at Spanaway and Whidbey Airpark.....Mind you, these have AI planes operating from them........Chris Low.

  6. These two screenshots show the first phase of new construction work at Sequim Valley. The dirst strip has been removed, and replaced with a runway length taxiway. Taxiway centrelines have been added, together with a new parking area. The second phase will add taxiway lighting, one extra AI parking spot, and maybe one or two hangars.I wasn't happy with the rather ugly looking dirt strip, and I also wanted to make the airfield look better, with proper taxiways and lighting. I would be happy to send this new version of Sequim Valley to anyone who wants it.....when it is completed :-)Chris Low.

Hi all,Could someone advise what program/s are being used to compile screenshots in FU3. I have tried several (PaintShop/Corel/MSPaint/MWSnap) but the only thing that seems to happens is that I shut down FU3, without getting my screenshot.Appreciate advice.Cheers

I've adjusted the blue hues in Glidernut's winter palette and tried to get the model palette right. The latter has taken time since I noticed that some colors messed up the runway concrete. The current palette is pretty drab but it may suit the season. The palettes are attached as a zip file. As before, use ResViewer to import the files into the Seattle resreg.res (after having backed up the original).best regards,Hans Petter

Book mark management inside FLED is rather poor, but using this utility you can Load and view the FLED Bookmark file flbookmf.dat as tree view. Load the book mark from the points of interest file POI.TXT Edit label text and values directly inside the tree view Save the result back to flbookmk.dat or another file as binary backup Export the result as points of interest file, POI.txt or other name.txt Selecting by check mark the book marks you want save in the file Sort the book marks by label text Now you can create versions of book mark files and/or points of interest Each book mark in FLED has Text label UTM coordinate X UTM coordinate Y Height above sealevel…

  10. I would like to point out that all of the new models at various airfields in my Seattle 2004 and SanFran 2004 packs were NOT designed by me. They were kindly provided by two forum members who are now expert model builders in FU3, so I would like to thank both of them for their invaluable contributions.THANK YOU JON POINT :-wave THANK YOU ROBERT DRISCOLL :-waveYour efforts are greatly appreciated, and have helped to transform my small airfields into more believable and interesting locations.Chris Low.

Dear All,For a number of reasons, good and bad, I am ceasing use of my Hotmail address for future communications. The truth is, many messages become blocked because the inbox fills up too fast (and no, it's not all spam). Please understand that I really appreciate the mail I get from users and other model creators however, with 30-40 messages per day, many of you will have noticed it takes me a long time to reply. I apologise for this and intend to come up with some fix in the near future. What I don't want to do is create ANOTHER forum or newsgroup to do it. Avsim is the best there is, no argument :-hahIn the mean time, please email me through the forum. It works and is …

Dear All,I didn't expect the L-13 to be a 'mainstream' sim add-on as I didn't know how many of 'us' were into gliding! 103 downloads in the first 24 hours tells me that there is still a lot of interest :-eekNow that we have a reasonable glider in our sim, maybe a few others will put FU3 back on their HD?OK, back to the T6, F4U and DHC6 :-waveJon Point*************************([email protected])*************************

Continuing my series of posts regarding individual airfields :-), I have just noticed that there is some unnecessary VASI lighting at University (in the San Francisco region). They are positioned edgeways to the runway, and are located near one of the taxiway exit points.I only noticed this when taking a flight from Medlock Field to Bonny Doon Village in the Beechcraft Baron. I passed directly over University, and noticed a couple of VASI indicators in a very strange position. You will need to use FLED to remove them (assuming that you want to), since they are default objects.Chris Low.

I bought the newest issue of PC Pilot yesterday (Saturday). On the CD it has a bunch of FU3 freeware offerings, much of which I understand came from the talented folks here at the forum. However imagine my surprise to find it has the "Big Red" Beech Baron repaint. I've flown the real "Big Red" and know its owner. A nicer twin I'd never hope to fly. I wasn't even aware that Red's owner used FU3 (and maybe he doesn't), but it was certainly great to see Red immortalized on the CD. Big Red is now included in FU3, MSFS 2K2 and I believe there may be a repaint for Fly!2 and possibly even Pro Pilot.Way to go... "Tallpilot" :-hah-Lindy :-wave

Tom,You mentioned something a while ago about a certain config file modification for flying in rainy weather. I think that you were referring to flying in rain without suddenly disappearing into a "white out" situation. If that is the case, can you tell me what I need to change in my flt3.cfg file ?Thanks.Chris Low.

Guys,Computer Pilot announced a couple of months ago that starting with November they would include a CD of FS stuff with the magazine. I got the first one today. It seems that they must have an agreement with PC Aviator because it is their cover disk that thy sent.I was really surprised to find that the top 2 items in the "Freeware" section are for FU3. Specifically Steve Hess' Piper Arrow & Cessna 182. It is kind of nice to see FU3 at the top of the list for a change. Way to go Steve! :)There are also a ton of great looking FS02 sceneries by Naji Chehabeddine. :)Naji I have a question for you... is that scenery compatible with FS04? I no longer have FS02 on my syste…

Robert D started this by playing with the scenery palette to get whiter snow on Mount Rainier. Then Glidernut created a winter palette. Bogdan requested an autumn palette. Well, here it is--just click on the attachment.Currently it looks like this:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/42659.jpgSince we learned to edit palettes entry by entry there are many opportunities. Does anybody think that the Seattle, the SanFran or the UK palette could use a facelift? The thing is, we don't have to choose between the Seattle and SanFran palette anymore. Just as for aircraft palettes we may create a new one rather than having to choose between existing ones. There are limits and disadv…

Just wanted to say HI to everyone! :-waveAnd a message to Jon Point...I found my NERO 5 CD, got it installed on my Win2K drive, and got all the AT-6 pics burned to CD. But I should be able to do it next week, and if I remember correctly, there isn't really any rush anyways. For anybody who cares, NERO is a far better app than Easy CD Creator, in my opinion.

http://www.avsim.com/other/usaribbon.gifBob "FlyBert" StilesAVSIM Moderator

"Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"~Richard Harvey…

Of course you are all correct that the time is past for FU3, although I will certainly keep it for my private use over the next few years at least. I won't be moving onto any other sims for a while - life is busy enough, and a quick fly through the familiar landscapes is all I want for relaxation. I have enjoyed making models for FU3 - both for the fun of making them and for enhancing the sim. With all this talk about the next sim, is there still interest in further development of Seattle, Switzerland, UK or SanFran regions? There must be some interest - there were 50 or so downloads for all the recent stuff.RobD.
