The Flight Unlimited Series

I was busy upgrading Kapowsin Field last night, and I noticed two things.1. The contrast between the resolution of the terrain textures around the airfield is striking when compared to the resolution of the textures just to the south. The difference is obvious when using FLED, and proves that not all of the Seattle scenery region is at 4 metres per pixel resolution.2. There's a bloody sailboat just to the east of the southern section of the runway ! What on Earth is a sailboat doing here ? It's definitely part of the default scenery.Chris Low,ENGLAND.

Cristian described a method of flattening terrain to me not so long ago, but I was wondering if there is a simple routine for this that anyone could use. I am referring to something similar to the instructions given on Andre's website for Coupeville NOLF. If I decide to flatten the runway terrain at Auburn Academy in the Seattle region, and Inglenook Ranch in the SanFran region, then I would like everyone who uses my packages to have the opportunity of doing the same, without having to go through the complicated process described by Cristian.Is this possible ? HiAll,I have Windows ME and I installed FU3 okay but when I went to play the sim, the screen locked up on me and I had to shut the puter down and reboot. I tried to play a number of times with the same result.Any ideas on why or fixes for this?Thanks in advance.__Jim

I have helped make several airports now, both in Seattle and UK-South, and have enjoyed making them very much.When I started constructing for UK-South, I discussed goals with Cristian and we agreed that for the airports, all we needed to do was add some hangars and runways and this would help a lot.In practise I have gone a bit further, by adding approach lighting, ILS equipment, runway signs, ancillary ground equipment, aircraft parking bays and some taxiways. Today I decided to take (finally) a short "relax" flight with the new Dash8. I started the sim at Bembridge. But as soon as I entered the cockpit, I noticed a very high performance drop (I got 8-10 fps, while I usually get 50 fps over clean terrain, and 25-30 fps above Heathrow.I tried changing aircraft: I had the same problem. Hi, regarding what has been discussed lately, I'd like to let you know that some time ago I did already put together a Baron which consists of: Ansgar Avermeyer's 3D models, flight physics and repaint, Steve Hess' VFR and IFR panels, Tonni Jorgensen's internal cockpit bitmaps (my favourite), and Hennie van Rooyen's sounds and callsigns. This is the only Baron I've been using in FU3 lately and it is great!!If there is enough interest and no authors have any objections, I'm willing to upload it immediately... Can anyone supply me with the ils frequencies for airports in the Seattle region? My FU3 manual doesn't have them - I bought my FU3 from ebay so perhaps I'm missing an extra booklet?

It's me again, me and my questions :-lolThis time I want to eidt the sound files in FU3. What I want to do is export all the soundfiles so I can edit them and cut 'n paste them together to create new words. I'm tired of all the UK airports having no names at all or names like "119.2" or "Swanson". I was thinking about either trying to create new words out of the ones available, or, if that's too hard, I'll make "Pro Pilot '99" style names, ie. Heathrow would simply be called "Echo-Golf-Lima-Lima" for example. PP '99 did this, and FS2002 also does this for smaller airports and it works fine.Is it possible to create new sounds and import them into FU3 at all? I know it has …

That new Baron 58 seems to include the best bits of every Baron that has come before it. However, there is a problem. I can't seem to find the VFR cockpit. When I press the F2 key, I get the IFR cockpit. When I press the F3 key, I get another IFR cockpit.So, can someone tell me where the VFR cockpit has gone ? :-)Chris Low,ENGLAND.

Some days ago I ran into a limit of uploaded images. In order to add new images I would need to delete previous ones. I declined and aborted the upload. Now I just read that Glidernut had accidentally deleted some of Quaxo's images, to make room for his own. Thus, there seems to be a (new?) limit on images per thread. Now, I can see why lots of images may overload the server but what are the current rules? Is it total number of images per thread, number of images per user, total file size per thread or something else?best regards,Hans Petter

I am sure that I could rotate the terrain in the main FLED window at one time, but I cannot remember how to do it ! Can someone please help me out ? It's much easier getting logs to line up horizontally or vertically, rather than at an angle :-)Chris Low,ENGLAND.

Help!I just finished building a new computer and I thought I would install FU3 and see what it looked like with the new hardware. Install went fine and I applied the patch. When I start up I am getting some very strange looking graphics. Weird colors all over the screen. I had this problem before but it has been several years ago and I can't remember the fix. I am running Windows xp and Directx 9 and currently have the Nvida 4109 drivers installed. I have tried changing drivers (several times) but it didn't help. I am using the stock fu3.cfg file. Its now 1.15 a.m and I'm a bit frustrated to say the least with Taxigraphs.Can someone please explain to me how you work the following.Here's the situation.I have 2 runways that cross. 22/04 and 32/14 with a taxiway running paralell the full length of 22/04 which needs to cross 32/14. My main runway is 22/04 and I want to come out of my parking spot and take off from runway 04.1) I can only define one runway. Whenever I define two, I get told that my edges cross.2) With only one runway I always get directed to R22.(is this something to do with the traffic pattern)3) I looked at Heathrow, it has crossing runways. Hi,I've just got back into Fu2 and 3 after a long absence. When I used to play the game I had a Voodoo 3500 graphics card. Now I have a Nvidia GeForce 3. My trouble starts when I hit the space bar to bring up the radio messages. When the list of radio options appear in flight, I get quite a drop in fps. When I finished using the radio and get rid of the screen, the fps goes back to how it should be!Any ideas how I can fix this?
