Well, it seems that the FLED bug has bitten me again....hard. After releasing Seattle 2003 and SanFran 2003, I am now preparing to make more significant modifications to God knows how many airfields and scenery packages. As an example, that freezing problem just after take-off or landing near San Francisco really annoys me, mainly because I want to use my Angel Island package without the freeze time increasing from one second to over five seconds. I have decided that this calls for drastic action. The size of the Angel Island package is 326k. That means that I need to shave roughly that amount off other packages in the immediate area, and this is how I think that I'm going…

I'm posting these again after they were deleted in the forum crash... :-)These are the first photos I took with my new camera, and I wanted to share them with you! Of course, the scanning/resizing process took out a lot of the quality. The first two are two Rv-6 coming in for landing...http://forums.avsim.com/user_files/18472.jpghttp://forums.avsim.com/user_files/18474.jpgI don't know what plane this is - but it's neat. It was practicing landings...http://forums.avsim.com/user_files/18475.jpgThe last two, are of a nice Pitts biplane. It performed a nice aerobatic show. I think he was practicing, too.http://forums.avsim.com/user_files/18476.jpghttp://forums.avsim.com/user_f…

I have started a new long post on this subject as i feel it could be very useful to us and want to keep it seperate. As you may have read on the previous post I have made contact with a 3D Modelling chap at UCL (University College London). This is his specialist field. Having said that, I dont want to tread on anybodys toes and take away any enjoyment from those people who like me are having fun learning about and making models. In my quest to find an easy way to get some models, I asked him today a simple question regarding numbers of polygons in his models and below is pasted his reponse. I feel sure we could work together with this guy and he seems prepared to help us."…

I'm having some problems with the UK region:Sometimes when starting from Heathrow, the sim will crash back to the desktop while 'Starting AI' somewhere around 60-80%. It doesn't always happen.I installed the package with two airports on the isle of wight, however, I can't get Bembridge airport to work. With it installed, the sim will crash when I start at, or near, the airport. Approaching the airport from a distance appears to work OK. However, even then, the 3D objects such as buildings, as well as the runway, appear to be underground. When moving the camera, the objects look as if they are below the ground level. The "other" aiport works fine. Some of the trees around S…

Just coming back to FU3 after an absence of a few months, during which time I bought a new P4-3Ghz PC with an ATI Radeon 9800 video card. At 1024x768, FU3 runs great *until* I try and access the map. As soon as I do that, I find myself staring at the Windows XP desktop.I read a previous thread that indicated that most people were running XP without any problems so I assume my video card must be the culprit. Anyone else experience something like this or have any ideas as to what might be done to fix it?Larry

I have lost one file for the UK region :-eekThe file is L0bran.bin. It's a 16MB file but the .bin files tend to shrink a lot when compressed. If anyone has the file, would you kindly email it to [email protected], zipped, and then post a reply here so I don't get multiple copies. Also tell me if the file is larger then 10MB zipped because then we'll have to figure something else out.

No, I don't mean nuke them :-) I would simply like to get rid of the annoying "bump" in the runway at Auburn Academy, and level the terrain on which the Inglenook ranch dirt strip sits.I will obviously need to use Andre's GeoTiles Viewer. That isn't a problem. However, I need to know what pieces of terrain to flatten. Can anyone here provide me with detailed instructions regarding how to do this ?By the way, some of you may not be aware of the problem at Inglenook Ranch. Basically, your plane will sink into the runway at one end, and rise into the air at the other ! I suspect that's why the original parking spot was located directly opposite the central point of the runwa…

Model Developers,I have recently come across the following websitehttp://www.casa.ucl.ac.uk/public/download.htmPlease have a look at the models, particularly, Buckinham Palace.I have been in contact with the site and he is willing to share his love of 3d modelling by supplying the original files and textures in 3ds format. Is this any good, can they be used. He mentioned something about Gmax?? Sorry, dont know if I am on the right track, but just remember seeing that somepeople use 3DS for their modelling so thought I would give it a try. He can also supply in obj and wrl formats as well.Means nothing to me but if you can use let me know and I will send them on.Andy

Hi, I've finally done what I did never thought I would do... I've changed my old and beloved Voodoo5 5500 for a Nvidia Geforce4 Ti4800 (FS2002 and the upcoming FS2004 are the reason behind that, I hate to admit). However, I don't want to quit FU3, so here is the question (I'm sure this is an old question, but I can't remember the answer...): Is there a way to get rid of those lines across the panel marking where the external 3D window edges are? Thanks in advance and blue skies...

The Beechcraft KingAir 350 is a superb FU3 plane (particularly the "Chris Low" version :-) ), but I would like to know if anyone else thinks that it feels rather too "light" on the ground. It seems to almost leap forwards from the parking spot when the engines are spooled up, and it seems very easy to turn when compared to the Beechjet. Is this just me being fussy again, or would the KingAir benefit from an upgrade to make it feel a bit heavier on the ground ?Chris Low,ENGLAND.

I've been playing around with Nvidia driver versions before settling again on the old 30.82 drivers, but something has gone wrong...My FUIII now looks somewhat weird? Any ideas if its just a graphics setting somewhere, or is something more serious wrong?Ianhttp://forums.avsim.com/user_files/17455.jpgUpdate: other sims seem to work OK: FS2k2, Jane's F/A-18, Grand Prix Legends all fine. Odd.

With the secour you all,:-zhelp I thought that Motormouse would be capable to forward to us of documentation on the airport of Cardiff and the city in order to enable us to model hangars, buildings monuments and others. Unfortunately, its occupations undoubtedly prevent it from answering me. I launch a call at community FU3. R. DRISCOLL and me even let us seek photographs, postcards, plan of the city, plates tourist, all documents on the subject which will enable us to advance our work. Here my E-mail: [email protected] With your Good Heart Messrs, ladies. Cordially, Luc: + Au secour vous tous,:-zhelpJe pensais que Motormouse serait

Hi All,Just a note to let you know that the Dash-8 has been upoladed for your enjoyment. Please try it out and enjoy a new(ish) way of flying in FU3.Special thanks to all who helped me with this and I'm looking forward to more FU3 creations soon!:-waveJon Point*************************([email protected])*************************

Dear All, Further to me uploading the FU3 Dash-8 to the Avsim library, I would like to again extend my thanks to you all for your help, support and valuable input I received during the Dash-8 development. All of you have contributed in some way and, without your contributions, I would never have been able to do it. My special thanks especially to Ansgar, whose knowledge of all things (including FU3) kept me in line. One cannot have a better teacher than a 'Master' and that's what we have with Ansgar - thanks again! Gideon Pertzov's tools were indispensable (as usual) and again, I wouldn't have achieved anything without them. Steve Hess inspired me with his great cockpits…

Just love this sim ;) After restoring my hacky video files, I went for a few flights just to check the bird 'one more time' (and to make sure I'd fixed the video). I did an early flight from Easton to Seattle city and got this beautiful shot at low altitude over the city at dawn. "Good morning, Seattle!"http://forums.avsim.com/user_files/16213.jpgAnd this after takeoff, later in the morning - she's not a bad renderer, considering her age...http://forums.avsim.com/user_files/16214.jpgA couple of timezones later, just beginning descent near Plymouth with the seemingly endless patchwork below.http://forums.avsim.com/user_files/16215.jpgThis UK scenery is rather unique, huh?h…

I'm populating the London City airport and looked through the models of Seattle and SanFran to find more models to use. I found quite a few but unfortunately most of them were in the Seattle folder. Well, I figured I might try to change the palette of the brick buildings that I wanted. There's also a couple of red cranes and whatever color they might take on with the SanFran palette would probably be OK. I made a list of the ones I wanted and browsed through the GEN folders to scoop them. That was when I found out that they're not available as single BINs and MIPs -- they're in modelmip.tag! So, how do I extract models from modelmip.tag? best regards,Hans Petter

I have just noticed something that I thought should be brought to the attention of all FLED airport developers. I was watching the AI traffic at San Francisco International, and I heard ATC inform one of the AI pilots to "taxi to Runway 28L via Foxtrot, Foxtrot, Foxtrot". I was puzzled by this, since I was almost certain that every section of this taxiway was designated. However, when I looked at this in FLED, I noticed that one section that I had modified slightly had been designated with "f". All of the SanFran International taxiway designations are denoted with capital letters, so the rest were "F".In other words, the AI is assuming that "f" and "F" are two different t…

Hi Gang,First of all many thanks to Glidernut for sending me the UK-South and update/addon discs, I am now on to part 3 of the addons. Cheers mate!. I have downloaded a number of aircraft in the last few weeks and I think you all have done a splendid job, I would not know where to start! But have we not come a long way. I have been flying a computer since 1980 something. I remember my C64 and Chuck Yeagers advanced flight sim. When my Sublogic Flight sim arrived, well I was over the moon what a package! It has developed in to todays MicroSoft Flight sim. It came with 2 books, one on how to fly and the other on navigation. Two very handy books. Also there where 4 maps and…

Hi,This one is for Glidernut who asked the question"what does Flightsgt mean?"Simply it its a rank in the RAF "Flight Sergeant"Seen as how my surname is "Sargeant" and I am interested in flight!"Flight Sgt" seems appropiate. :)I was not in the RAF, I did spend 20 years in the Army. Came out in 93.Yes I know what you are all thinking, "with a name of Sargeant, wouldnt it be funny if he was a Sargeant, Sargeant-Sargeant" Give me a penny every time someone....................I would be flying a real plane now not a computer!:(

I dont know if this is possible but I want to continue to work on my airport when I am away from home e.g. travelling or on vacation. Is it possible to be able to work on just one small area without having to load the whole UK South on my laptop as I do not have the diskspace. Would I just install FU3 and Fled and then the corresponding ,map tile.ThanksAndy
