I can't seem to use any of them. I limit it to one on the map, and the fields load, but then, after a few seconds, the thing locks up and I have to esc. This lands me back on the desktop. I've not got too many on the map, I'm trying them individually.Any ideas as to why this would happen?

Well, I admit to finally being somewhat disappointed.I have always enjoyed FUIII for the accurate feel and performance of the aircraft, how they handle for the most part (with a few discrepancies), and their performance parameters. After what must have been months and months of flight model testing and tweaking by the original designers, it took me exactly 90 seconds to find that the Mooney is completely porked. Not the aerodynamics, but the engine settings. Google, searching under "Mooney Bravo power settings."In a nutshell, the FUIII Mooney must have about 600 horsepower under the hood. The real plane: 30" MP and 2400 RPM @ 10,500 feet: 157 knots indicated.Ours in FU3 w…

To all modellers out there:Transparency has been a wonderful help in adding to fine detail in model building. But it has some major problems. I think I have just solved one of them.I made a sort of figure 8 - shaped building for Heathrow - its one of the buildings in the BA maintenance area. When I flew over it, I was very disappointed by the way FU3 drew the roof - there was serious bleed through of hidden surfaces. Now, 745 years later, I think I have a solution. The Problem:If a MIP image is designated as transparent, then it will tend to bleed through. So runways using transparency, buildings with open doors etc, are generally not drawn correctly in FU3.Proposed solutio…

Hi every one,Until a few weeks ago I thought I was the only one left in the world using FU2/3. I was pleased to discover Avsim. I was even more pleased to discover new aeros to download WoW. I keep seeing references to UK-South in the file library. My question is....Where can I get it from?Bye the way I am using Windows XP with a 1.3Ghz AMD Duron and a 16 meg built grafics card on an ASrock Motherboard. I have had this set up since Feb. I have had only 2 prog crashes with FU3 otherwise it is working great. compared to my last 233mhz machine I had before Feb. It ran FU2 great, FU3 was usable just. with my 4meg card.Thanks...Paul :-wave

Hi to all, especially Luc!I was wondering if anyone has made any progress yet with gathering information and images for the new area? The time is approaching when I will be able to actually get involved ;)Until now it has been 'too many planes, too many models, too many soundfiles, not enough time...'Have you been in contact with Andre (Agtim) and Christian (Quaxo) to 'get up to speed' on the processes involved? Now that we have some good tools it should be much easier. All we need to start are the ground images and elevation data. Do you think we can organise some volunteers and nominate jobs for them? There will be much work in getting the images into the correct format…

Continuing using Hennies Baronxp challenge. It's a nice, fun interactive way to enjoy what Flight3 has to offer while ensuring the log book is updated. These are flights from Sacramento Executive to San Fransisco in the Beechjet(will change the Beechjet to Daniels Lear in the very near), and another flight from Sac to Travis in the Moonie. These few pics couldn't capture the scenery I was seeing. They were both excellent and enjoyable flights. On the way to Travis, for the first time I saw the crop circle and pyramid that you all have posted many times about. After I landed in San Fran I shift-P around and had the fortune to see Ansgars new AI heavies in the area. Once w…

I have just installed the Detonator 43.51 drivers, and configured the anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering using RivaTuner to 4xS and 8x respectively. However, I am not sure that FSAA is working properly. The jagged edges of the distant mountains seem to be far more pronounced than they were with the 30.82 drivers, and I don't have that annoying line through the panel and other cockpit views.Just to make this absolutely clear, I would rather accept the line through the panel in order to get excellent FSAA ! I know that Jon uses the Detonator 43.51 drivers, so I would be interested in your results with these drivers (together with those of anyone else who uses them).Chr…

I tried to install FU2 and 3 last night, and got as far as installing the san fransisco terrain into FU3, but then my machine crashed for reasons unknown. Now I have a running version of FU3 with an San fransisco terrain directory, but an unworkable SF area (the game crashes when I try to laod the SF terrain).I can't uninstall and start again, as the installshield log is corrupt. I know if I just delete the directory, I'll be left with a reg entry that will tell the setup exe that the game is already there. All I want to do is install the SF terrain. Anyone know how to either copy the SF terrain from a new install of FU2 over to FU3 (basically, where all the files go, and …

I decided to attempt another FU3 install. I copied the contents of the first two FU3 CD's, and the two FU2 CD's to folders on the hard disk (CD1,CD2,CD3,CD4). However, just as the contents of the second FU2 CD were almost copied to the CD4 folder, Windows XP suffered one of its infamous shutdowns. This resulted in a failure of the copy process to the CD4 folder.Unfortunately, I did not realise this. When the PC rebooted, I ran the FU3 install procedure from the hard disk. This worked fine (it was certainly faster than pulling the data from the CD drive).....until it reached CD4. I kept being informed that it was the wrong disk, which I couldn't understand at first. Then I…

Dear All,In reference to the mid-air collision posted in this forum some time ago, one of the issues was that BOTH aircraft were relying on ATC to tell them each other was there. Comments were made about not justifying the expense of 'professional airline equipment' in small planes. I sorta went along with that - until now. I just got an email about this unit from iPilot. http://www.ipilot.com/shop/product.aspx?pid=13110It astounds me that anyone with even $20,000 tied-up in an aircraft wouldn't have one of these! From now on, when I hear a similar story, I will treat the pilots with the same contempt they show(ed) for their passengers. All we need is one in FU3 :-lolJon P…

However, some skaterboy is yelling "yo" at me when I navigate to a point southwest of London.I get: Yo, no airport for Biggs, killing it(File: iapdef.cpp, Line 122)(Yes to trap, No to exit, Cancel to ignore)"Cancel" works fine but I'd like to get rid of this. There may very well be no airport at Biggs but so what? Evidently, there's some unresolved code or conflict here.Hans Petter

Hi Folks,I'm posting this to apologise for leading anyone astray about Nvidia Detonator drivers. Seems a lot of people (including me) had problems with anything later than 3x.xx whilst people with new PCs were OK.Well, truth is, Detonator 4x.xx installations over 3x.xx installations doesn't work too well. There are some different filenames (and therefore registry entries) in the drivers. Simply installing the new drivers leaves some old ones there and corrupts the registry! Apparently, I should have known this and have received a couple of trout slaps for my ignorance ;)The solution is simple:1. Install the new 4x.xx drivers (I used 43.51 'coz the latest Rivatuner support…
