Well, I can categorically eliminate the "corrupt FU3 install CD" theory from my list of potential XP haters. I decided to try installing FU3 using my second copy of the software, but I experienced yet another system shutdown.Oh dear, formatting the hard disk and installing Windows XP has become a decidedly less enthralling experience than it was two weeks ago. It looks like my only option is a completely new PC...... :-)Now, what should I get ? A 3Ghz Pentium 4 with 800Mhz FSB, Radeon 9700 Pro, 1Gb PC-3200 RAM, and a 120Gb hard disk sounds like FUN !!!!Chris Low,ENGLAND.

Jon,Just to let you know, I love the Clare's Valley airport, simply beautiful. I've had it installed for quite some time, but I'm really finding the frame rate hit unacceptable...using a Voodoo 5 5500 and Windows 98SE on a Gigahertz processor, the frame rates are still making the landings a slideshow. Are all the gorgeous trees the culprit? I hope not; and I'm really wondering of you could recommend a quick fix, removing something perhaps that would never be missed (as if that can really happen!).It's a work of art, that airport, but I find myself avoiding it, and I don't really want to do that!Dan

Well, I have checked the sound card, removed the CD-RW drive, reconnected the zip drive, formatted the hard disk, and reinstalled Windows XP. I decided to install FU3 before I did anything else....and guess what ? It installed without incident. Now, you could say that this increases the probability that the CD-RW drive was the problem, but I am not so sure. You see, there is one other aspect of my system that I had not considered properly, and that is the graphics drivers. Before I purchased Windows XP, my system was running under Windows ME......with Detonator 30.82 drivers. FU3 always installed properly. When I installed Windows XP, I also installed Detonator 41.09 driver…

I had more problems with FU3 recently after using FLED. After a system freeze (nothing unusual about that), I restarted Windows. ScanDisk checked the files on the hard disk......and then messed around with some of the files that I had been tweaking. When I started FU3, the airport icon for Arlington Municipal was in exactly the same location as SeaTac, and all of the airport buildings and local city buildings at Arlington had vanished.Needless to say, this "annoyed" me :-) I was so fed up with this, that I decided to reformat the hard disk yet again, and attempt another complete reinstall. Windows XP installed normally (as always), but the FU3 install failed for the ninth…

London screenshots:For those who requested some shots before the weekend ...Here's some recent pics taken with my (rusty old rewirable) Box Brownie camera, leaning precariously out the window whilst I flew the Baron with my feet, on a a recent joy-ride around the city, looking ar recent changes.I have been experimenting with adding shine to the buildings (nothing clever - just getting good source pics and sunny days and experiments with resolution) - and I think these new buildings are starting to look better:http://forums.avsim.com/user_files/11402.jpgA new barrier to progress:http://forums.avsim.com/user_files/11403.jpgMating season at London City Airport - runway sched…

Hello all. This is a short review of my experiense with this new XP. software.1. Not very userfriendly with overview in win.explorer. Mutch time-consume finding spesific folders.2. Win.XP. is constantly logging errors/settings. If I reboot the computer,-the errors are still there.3. If I want to change settings for installed hardware/ software, I have to Work hard to do so.4.Drivers for other applications as win.98/95 is not working as intended.5.I have the feeling that Microsoft and Intel own my mashine, and not myself.Summary:I DON'T LIKE IT!!For my use Win.98SE was better for both drivers and user interface.Lars Peter.:-mad

I installed the IOW package, but am having some problems... All works well if I don't change the AIPLAN.TXT and EXT_PORT.txt files; the airports are there, I can fly there, everything looks good - even if I have low frame rates (I get 10-13 at the new airports, while I get 18-25 at Heathrow, and >50 over "clean" terrain). But if I add the new lines to the AI files, I get a crash during the AI loading. I noticed that the new lines, for AIPLAN, add points from X30 to X34; but on my AIPLAN, the last point is X24. So, I miss the points from X25 to X29. Maybe this is causing the crash? Who added those points, and when? In which package? Where can I get the updated files?Than…

Time for some more help please with modelling.Firstly, several people have given me some great help with modelling, particularly Rob Driscoll and Angsar but I am struggling to grip texture mapping.(0,1),(1,1),(1,0) and all the other permutations.I grasp the theory that this allows you to manipulate the gif to fit the triangle in the way you want, and that each setting indicates a particular part of the gif for each vertex of the triangle. Sorry Rob, but I have read your documents many times, even drawing out the examples, but I still don't get it. Also, repetition of gifs in a model. Saving typing in many more points, parts, mapping, it is possible to specify the repetit…

I think this has been mentioned before but here I go, the UK region has a lot of runways that consist of the aerial textures only. When being viewed from high above this is fine but we really need some Looking Glass or Driscoll concrete to spot the runway as we approach it. Even VASI lights and sequence flashers (running rabbits) would be appropriate. The ones that haven't been "constructed" yet are one thing but even London City has a fairly "ephemeral" runway. Is anybody working on laying proper slabs of concrete and adding the lights? I might play with FLED and get something done but it would be a waste of time if other simmers are preparing proper packages.Hans Petter

Well, well, well. I have just reinstalled Windows ME, and all of the other bits and pieces that are required (drivers, WinZip.....blah blah blah). Anyway, after this was done.........I attempted to reinstall FU3. Yes, I said attempted. Amazingly (anf for the first time ever using Windows ME), the install procedure FAILED. This happened during the San Francisco scenery installation, and involved the screen going blank, and the entire PC becoming unresponsive. I had no other option but to reset. This obviously resulted in an unfinished FU3 install procedure, and therefore exactly the same problems that I had with Windows XP (no way of uninstalling the software, and no way o…

OK, following on from my last post regarding specular lighting, I would like to ask all you FU3'ers a few things about your setup and hope that most of you will take the time to reply. Could you post your :-1. Video card2. Video card driver version3. DirectX version4. Your Operating System5. Your settings in flt3.cfg for your HazeMethods, either fog, multipass or specular.I would like to determine which video card/driver/DirectX/OS combinations DO NOT produce black clouds when using specular as the haze method. Even if you do not use specular, I would still be grateful of your feedback.Sorry to be a pain !!Thanks in advance chappies.Chris E, ENGLANDhttp://www.circle-softw…

Does anyone here run FU3 on a Windows XP machine with a SoundBlaster Live card (particularly a Player 5.1 or Player 1024) ? I am starting to suspect that my sound card is the cause of my problems in Windows XP, and I would like to know which driver set you are using. I have experienced unexpected system shutdowns during FOUR of the FIVE installations of FU3 that I have attempted, and it may be significant that these have occurred when a sound file is being played (you know, those snippets of ATC instructions that are played during the install). Since the sound card is presumably being used at these times, it is possible that this is the cause of the problem.Unfortunately,…

Time to play trains! I have modelled Waterloo station in this upgrade to Cristian's UKS.And the cream on this package is the beautiful train noises from glidernut! Thanks a million! Also I have experimented with a little street lighting. I forget who suggested this - probably Andy or Rob? but it was a great idea and I think adds considerably to the package. How to find London? Hmmm. Take off from Stonehenge and fly East. If you hit the ocean you missed it.RobD.

I could have sworn I read somewhere that the San Francisco scenery in FU 2 can be converted and imported into FU 3. Am I wrong? If not, how is this accomplished? Thanks,Scott

Well guys, I am very likely to reformat my hard disk YET AGAIN this evening, and then reinstall Windows ME. Yes, that's right. I said ME. After the major problems that I had yesterday, I decided to reinstall Windows XP over the existing installation. Unfortunately, I chose the wrong option, and the previous install of XP was erased ! :-eek OK, so that resulted in me having to install everything else again....including FU3. Reinstallation of all driver files and other bits and pieces proceeded without incident....until I tried reinstalling FU3.For the second time in three attempts, my system shut down during the FU3 installation. This has resulted in me having an incomplet…

Hello.I have received an IBM Netvista box.2.5ghz-256mb.ram. Win.XP.pro.790US$ without monitor.I have looked under the hood and found a free AGP slot. This slot is too short for my old Voodoo 5 card.Nevertheless my old TNT.2 card has the correct contactlenght to fit in.How many AGP slots is there on the market??? and is the modern AGPvideocards of today made for this short AGP slot??Running this with an "INTEL"-videocard is no good for flightsims. The rest of my old equipment does fit in without problems. All needed drivers was installed properly and all devices is ok.Best regards.Lars Peter.

I have a serious problem with my PC at the moment guys, and the details are listed below.I was using FLED to upgrade certain aspects of Sonoma Skypark, and I had just finished tweaking the taxiways and AI pathways. I then decided that I wanted to add several buildings to the nearby scenery, so I started FLED again, and opened the existing Sonoma Skypark package. Anyway, before I could do anything, one of those dreaded messages appeared. It is slightly different in Windows XP compared to Windows ME, but basically FLED needed to be shutdown because of a problem. When I used Windows ME, I simply re-booted the PC, and FLED would work normally from then on. However, this didn'…
