Hi All,In FU2 (which I can't get to work), I read that it is possible to get shot down! Can this happen in FU3?I have been flying into military airspace, buzzing towers and refusing to answer 'on guard' requests but no-one seems to fly up from mil airbase and tell me off with a large firework. What do I have to do to start trouble? (my cessna against your hornet any day pal!!)Rob

Hi AllWhen you fly from the generic scenery into the high res area (like flying into the san fran area, is there anyway of telling FU3 to just load the new region without asking you to press y to load it?Also when I tried the swizerland scenery it seemed to occupy the same area as seattle and was forever swapping between switzerland and seattle. How do you stop this?(I have uninstalled it but am ready for a complete reinstall if someone can give me the complete thickies guide!!!)Rob

Hi allHelp!I have a problem with my seattle map.Every time I try to access the in flight map (using M) or try and move location in quickflight (where the program would look at the map) or use the flight planner, FU3 drops back to the desktop.I seem to be able to fly around fine as normal but just can't view the map. This happened just after installing the seattle 2002 pack (which looks superb from what I have seen of it whic is seatac!). Can anyone give me some clue as to checking what files should be where or which might interfere with what.Rob.

Doing a bit of tidy up with FU3 lately - admit have'nt flown it for some time.As I had'nt San Fran installed I decided a re-install. Also downloaded and installed patch for UK version but now when I select a quick flight, in either Seattle or San Fran - locked PC requiring a reboot.PC is Athlon 1.2GHz, Elsa Gladiac 511, 516MB RAM. Recently updated Gladiac driver (Nvidia) and have DirectX 9.Re-installed older Gladiac driver - no improvement.Anyone any ideas?

To cheer myself up after a very bad day for Aerospace I decided to get some air and try to find Stonehenge armed with a 1:500 000 chart and a trusty UK travel guide. I headed off from Bembridge tracked over Southhampton and Salisbury. The travel guide showed it to be in a triangle near a motorway and indeed it was - just off the left wing tip in the last picture. Just to show with FU3 we can do real aerial tourism whilst practising our navigation skills.Well it took my mind off the bad news for a little while.Cheers,QvdG

Currently I am working on the new elevation model for UK_South. The alinement of the landscape and sea border was rather bad in my first version. The only available DTED Mil.spec. ascii/float grid data is a rectangular arrangement also but it will not fit with our texture. Now I have adjusted as good as possible a generated single map with the level5 map as generated with level57maker.exe. Elevation from other sources are unusable, worse or has a unknown data structure (FS2002,Fly,ProPilot). The DTED data are from the same source as suggested for Fly2k Terrascene. The east part from the Needles to Margate is cut and imported. With my new version 3.0 of GeoTileViewer releas…

Hi all!If you live in the UK you can this month get a copy of PC Answers magazine which has a full and free version of Opus 6 which is a file management system that replaces explorer.I have used it for just 1 day and find it very useful with FU3 for 3 reasons [i'm on win98 by the way. Some of the features below are on winME and most probably on XP, but I'm not sure which]1. If you are on win98 or less, chances are you can't view thumbnails. This makes looking through your folder of screenshots (or any other picture folder) much easier. You can see at a glance exactly what you want. I also find the quick viewer for a picture file much better than the one in ME (the office …

Hi Fellas,Started fooling around again with Dirty Mac's Gtl Editor. Since I had downloaded it, I'd never got it to open a gtl file. Always got an error message. Finally looked into it again, and found gtl.dll needed registering. Registered it with Regsvr32.exe and now can open the gtl files. He states in his read me that 10awab.gtl is San Diego and 10ahas.gtl is San Fran(won't fool with San Fran, as I have Fu2). I hope you all can tell me how it is a fella knows what part of the map each gtl covers? Dirty Mac popped in here once when Hans and I were working on texturing the Grand Canyon area about a year(?) ago and am hoping he'll come back and share his knowledge; unless…

Hi AllSome logbook questions are bothering me;1) Is it possible to log more than 100 flights in a log book?2) Is it possible to log more than 100 minutes in any flight?3) Is it possible to log gliding time (engine off!) in the stemme?(with engine on it logs fine but stops adding engine off minutes)Has anyone come across any of these?Rob.

I just uploaded my version of the Baron. Please consider it as a beta version since I'd prefer to be able to use an improved texture map. As it stands I've recreated Ed Weber's "Big Red" as well as I can, given the limitations of the original FU3 texture mapping. These limits include some rather illogical texture allocation as well as texture mirroring. Some areas of the fuselage draw textures from other places and the mirroring makes it impossible to make the left side different from the right one. In practice this means step guards on both wings or none at all. Ansgar has promised to create a new Baron with a better texture mapping and Steve has a new panel coming up. H…

So I loaded FUIII, installed SanFran. Patched (US). When I select quick flight, it opens the screen with me at about 1000ft and my plane crashes into the ground. All the while the "Press E to start engine" is on the screen. What have I done.I did load the two super packs by Chris Low, the Trainer update and the C182. But the problem occurs with any aircraft. Thanks in advance.Ed

FUN really does come in different colours :-) As the GeeBee V1.0 release draws nearer I thought I'd give you all a peek at the 'other' livery set! This will be released as an upgrade package of files with a Resviewer script for those that prefer yellow (or the 'GeeBee-7-7-Victor' callsign)! The textures shown here actually use the pre-beta R2 palette so, like the pre-beta previews posted recently, are a compromise. Both liveries in the V1.0 release will have better colour rendering with their own palettes. Whilst I cannot render reflections in FU3, the textures will hopefully be as good as possible :-)http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3e2dc90c40977d61.jpghttp://ftp.…

If anybody hears about the the midair over North Denver and wonders if you are going to need a new moderator... not this time. A Piper Cheyenne and a Cessna Skyhawk collided and both went into houses about 12 miles due South of me. It is as of yet not certain if anyone on the ground was injured. The Cessna burned and it sounds doubtful if anyone got out... they are still trying to get people out of the Piper. The cause of the collision is not known as of yet... it was getting dark but the sky was still light... no clouds... beautiful day. When and if I hear any more I'll pass it along. They are just saying now that one of the houses... the one that burned... had no one ho…

I hope everybody will take a minute to look at this post on the Fly Forum:http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/DCForumID14/2722.htmlI have had a few disagreements with Richard... regarding Fly. But always respectful in nature. I always found it admirable that he so passionatly defended his "baby". Of course he not only defended it but always made every attempt to resolve all issues. The man is a true class act and his departure will be a sad day for the flight simming community as a whole. We need more like him.
