Dear All,There are actually 2. Or is that 3 *:-*Anyway, I've uploaded the Beech Model 17 Staggerwings to the Avsim library, so they should be available shortly ;-)The UC-43 has been uploaded in an unfinished state, just so you could have even more toys for Christmas. The internal views haven't been 'militarised' yet and the panel is halfway there ;-)And one last gratuitous shot, coming out of Big Greider Lake - with modified clouds ;-)http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/163490.jpgI hope you'll have a lot of fun with them!Merry Christmas, everyone :-waveRegards,Jon Point

Dear All,Has anyone else started flattening other Seattle strips? I haven't heard from anyone but 50-odd people have downloaded my new grass and dirt strips and one needs very flat ground upon which to use them! So far, I have done:Easton StateKachess LakeKechelis LakeBumping LakeChester Morse LakeSpada Lake (Forest Falls)Big Grieder LakeHarveyBergsethLewis CreekBanderaCurrently on my list to do next are the 'lower Cascades foothills' strips Such as Swanson, Eatonville, Black Diamond etc. I am not intending to do the 'big ones' like SEA or BFI - maybe someone could do those? It's not that hard, and should be possible to flatten 1 or 2 sites in a relaxed evening ;-)Please,…

Agtim,I was going to email this but thought it better shared ;-)I have finished processing the N3 maps with the l3map6x5 tool (see the other related thread). These ones didn't process (I assume are not required):http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/161834.jpgAnd these ones did:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/161835.jpgI am still missing the picture though, and I haven't a clue what to do next! I looked at the tile index file, then looked at the map names, then tried to make sense of 1 or 2 of the 46 TGA files and I'm stumped *:-* Once I can identify what goes where, I'll try editing it and testing - but this involves another part of the picture that I cannot see yet - h…

Ah yes, I said I'd have a go at this :-roll S'funny, it's kinda addictive. I've flattened a few spots and experimented with a lake ;-) Here's some shots;Easton State. The mounds on each side of the runway are because the terrain data included the trees (sort of). I might flatten that part too.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/161449.jpgLewis Creek. This was difficult because it straddles 2 tiles.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/161450.jpgBandera State. Once boring, now quite pretty, with the terrain improvements - and a few thousand tons of fill to sort the strip out.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/161451.jpgChester Morse Lake (!). Not far from Bandera and absolutel…

All,I've just uploaded some dirt and grass strips that I have been sitting on for a while ;-) A better alternative to oversized logs (and don't disappear at a distance), yet blend-in fairly well (lots of transparency). Make up the length you want!I use them, and now you can too ;-)Grass strip at Bandera - up close and off the ground:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/161599.jpgDirt strips - close-up at Easton State and (a rather drifty) approach to Bergseth:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/161600.jpgUp, up and away from Easton!http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/161601.jpgShould be available shortly :-waveRegards,Jon Point

GLA means Greater London Authority, housed in one of the strangest buildings in the world, a 45m tilted undescribable shape near the Tower Bridge, Thames. For a relatively small structure it has attracted more controversy in its brief life than even the Dome. But despite its odd looks it is an engineering marvel, with clever use of geometry and materials to reduce energy requirements over a conventional "square" building by a factor of 4. Apart from which, its design aims to demonstrate the need for transparency of government. It is a nightmare to build.Since its now taken up a major part of my FU3 time for the last few weeks, I thought just for interest (and for the sake …

Using the 1 arc degree NASA SRTM_V2 elevation we can set the elevation for the 64m FU3 grid starting from a 30m SRTM grid with best results.http://www.agtim.ch/fu3/images/e0aaajoldnew.jpgLeft the original LookingGlass elevation and right the new SRTM_V2.I have just built the north west corner (tiles aaaj, abaj, aaai, abai)and here are the pictures of the first test flight.http://www.agtim.ch/fu3/images/FLT3022.JPGhttp://www.agtim.ch/fu3/images/FLT3023.JPGhttp://www.agtim.ch/fu3/images/FLT3024.JPGhttp://www.agtim.ch/fu3/images/FLT3025.JPGhttp://www.agtim.ch/fu3/images/FLT3026.JPGhttp://www.agtim.ch/fu3/images/FLT3027.JPGhttp://www.agtim.ch/fu3/images/FLT3028.JPGhttp://www.agt…

No not the Hornet ;-). Just would not like to touch a sensitive topic and poke into a hornet's nest, but does anyone have a "good" opinion about the new FSX? Please let's not go too much off-track as it is not the FS forum, but as I know people from this forum never goes over board, I look forward to your, as always, uhh... civilised comments. What I read in the forums yet does not look too good. People talk about a lot of "tweaking" to get reasonable frame rates (for whatever that's worth). However, it appears to me not to be tweaking but rather switching things (the new stuff) off or thus actually disabling what seems to be excitingly new! I stood with the brand new FSX…

Andre,Thanks for the great elevation work ;-)UKS is amazing now!http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/160299.jpgThe slight land deformations are really obvious and even small features look better.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/160300.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/160301.jpgAnd the go-kart track is finally back on top of a hill!http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/160302.jpgThanks again :-waveRegards,Jon Point

Arrrgh! The confusion :-eekI thought of doing an offset panel, but due to panel size constrictions, I'm thinking that the window area left over isn't enough. So, here are 2 F3 panels, one straight-on with radios, one offset without. http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/159060.jpgAs you can see, you don't get much extra instrument usability with the offset view, and you get somewhat less 3D view :-( http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/159061.jpgIn the straight-on version, you can see everything at a glance AND a good overall 3D view, albeit with a strip down the middle. This also allows me to save the 'extra view' for the switch panel I wanted to do.Here's the (offset) F2 vi…

I have spent the weekend reworking Biggin's Hill taxiways etc. This is repeating old work which seems to have got lost - the beacon's file now circulating with agtim's update doesn't seem to have a lot of the older work. I don't know if someone has removed it for some reason, but anyway it was an excuse to redo the old work. Some choices I have made here (and I would enjoy any feedback or comments):Taxiways are numbered correctly: for 03/21 its alpha bravo charlie delta and for 11/29 its hotel juliet lima. Finally there's Link taxiway. I think I had this right initially and don't know why this was all deleted. Taxiway lighting follows exactly (as I can) the actual Bigg li…

Agtim has recently released a new terrain for the UKS scenery. This is a far more detailed and accurate terrain mesh and has improved the landscape enormously. The old packages do not work with the new terrain (models might float or might be buried), so the packages had to be modified. All of my existing packages have now been reset to the new terrain, and I have sent the complete lot across to Jon Point to troubleshoot it. This includes the new packages for Birmingham and Fretherne. I hope to have that released shortly (depending on whatever bugs he finds - you know what these Australians are like). With the new models database, new terrain and other things for setting up…

I'm trying to run a webcam under Win 2000 and Skype says I need Win XP to make the camera work. Well, I found that it will suffice to install DirectX 9.0. However, the most recent version of DirectX might be a problem with older games as FU III. Does anyone know whether FU III will do fine with the latest version of DirectX?Hans Petter

Whilst resurrecting my FU3 'extra' stuff, a few things fell out of the closet :-roll One was the T6 (half-finished & uploaded recently), and here's another one:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/156742.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/156743.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/156744.jpgMight have some promise, actually (with a yellow/black paint job) :-waveRegards,**************Jonathan Point**************"I'd rather be down here wishing I was up there than up there wishing I was down here"
