Hi. Looking for links, tools and tips on how to render my local airport in high definition (Oceanside Airport, CA, USA, (KOKB)). Once I get it to be realistic, I'd like to improve the airport. I'm not an artist and am an off-the-shelf user of FS2002. I don't know what software to buy and where to get terrain data for free/low cost. I think I need to get 10 meter or finer mesh resolution because this airport's in a valley with lots of terrain to render. Before I start dropping money on airport builders and GIS data I thought I should maybe check first with youz guyz. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks--RickOceanside Airport Association

I have been playing with redoing the DFW LandClass for some time now. I had been having problems, so I took it down to the smallest, simplest example. No matter what I do, I get a generic looking terrain. and not the expected city textures.For my test, I put all the same landclass values in the binary input file (256 rows x 256 columns filled with a decimal 101 value). When I fill the value with 101 (city texture), I get a moon like landscape. When I fill the value with 106 (suburb), I get a similar landscape in another shade. This is really crazy. Can someone tell me how the best way to get a nice ramp lighting effect using Airport? Here is a shot of what I have so far. Is anyone working on an FS2002 update for the island of St-Barth in the FWI? If not, well, someone should get cracking on it! If nowone is interrested in making it, well, does anyone know where I can get satellite pics, and maybe some starters info on how to make scenery? Is it possible to make the entire topography in GMAX? will it work out well? Thats all I really know how to do! Thanks

If someone out there is handy with the scenery design tools that can use aerial or satellite photos in them, I have Orlando, Tampa, Panama City and Ocala, Florida hi res aerials that I use for work. I'd love to get some of these made into sceneries. SCASM is not my language, I am sure this is an easy fix, I had read about this problem with others, but just now had it happen to me. I am working on a scenery and I laid down a helopad using NOVA (sign macro) and an original texture and I get a flashing when I am moving (see pic). Is there a line of code or a parameter that can be added to stop this?Many thanks, Michael

Hi,I want to fix my home city, Tucson AZ, so that the city extends out like it does in real life. The FS2002 version of Tucson is the way the city appeared about 10 years ago before all the growth to the north and northwest. I want to learn how to extend the city textures to make the true boundaries of the city and possibly also how to make things like roads and washes. (dried up rivers that we have here that only fill during big storms)I have no idea where to get started with this - my experience in scenery goes only to fixing the ILS beams at KPHX using EasyNav... ;) Can anyone help me out with learning how to do this?Thanks!Ryan

Is there a program (GUI?) that I can use to place and animate dynamic objects like cars, trains, and planes, after designing them in Gmax? Or do I have to manually program them? I know I could use the new AI method for planes, but from what I understand, they can only go from Airport A to airport B and land, but I would like to have planes taking off with a glider in tow, releasing, then landing at the same airport. Hi ! I made a onw dynamic Libary including a truck made with FSDS. Everything is well the truck is visible in FS2K2 the scale is set correct. But the truck is displayed 2-3 meters above the apron. I tested the default FS2K2 dynobjects and everything is ok they are right on the apron. I tested everything, different Refpoint commands like abs, nsi an tried to set the absolute alt ASL, ............ ! But no way, the truck is displayed 2-3 above apron !? Does anyone know where the problem is ?Thx, marijo

Hi,I have a satellite photo , 1m resolution ,1280*960 24 bit. I want to use it with resampler and create an .inf file. Resample worked and created 4 images with 256*256 ....Is it right becouse it makes a square with 512*512 but my image is 1280*960.. And if you think this 4 images as each parts of a square divided to 4 my image is mush smaller than 512*512 and it is aligned to right.The left part of this square is black .So the half of the 2 bmp images that resampler create , are all black and when I run scenery in FS , my photo covers a small area ,and there are a big black area too. Hi all.I've been looking into the possibility of bypassing some of Resample's functions to place CUSTOM tiles into FS2002. One way to get some flexibility in photoreal texture placement, is to us landclass BGLS ( ClassU8 ), to place the textures.Landclass source files can be created by a paint program, saving the result as an 8-bit RAW file ( a simple array with no header info ). Value #254 is a transparent value, allowing the default ( underlying ) texture to show on the tile. Value #253 is for CUSTOM textures... with value #252 for seasonal custom textures. The custom texture's filename acts as the world locator, and will be used by the landclass BGL... properly plugged…

Regarding freeware scenery, occasionally I find that there are errors of mispelling in the menu selection when you "go to third party airport" in order to select airport scenery area files.Is there a tool available that will allow you to read the appropriate bgl file and correct or modify the text information?

I'm about to start modeling a large land grant university where virtually every building is built of red brick with orange tile roofs. Would it be easier on the frame rate to carve the buildings into small polys and have one or two generic textures or leave the buildings basically boxes and have different texture files for each one.

Part of this contest is the spot landing competition. Each glider lands and then attempts to come to a stop as close as possible to an orange traffic cone on the runway.
