I have split some of my .bgl's for my project, due to the size they were getting to be. No problems doing it and all works fine. Problem is now, trying to import one of the ground bgl's in scasm format, I am unable to do this. It imports it but it looks like a huge spider web every where. I am using Airport build 157, and scasm 288. Thanks for any help,JayArno, if you read this I am still unable to get "Bumpy" to work. I thought this might help but no. ______________________________________________________________________

Hi,I have found out something that may be a little redicolous but no matter how many hours I have spent on this problem, I can't make it work same avery time.I have two lakes, separated by let's say 30 VTP points apart and they are even in same LOD13 quadrant. I just wanted to have straight line from one lake to another, so I used 5 points: 3 at the beggining and 2 at the end (to prevent tapper). Width of river vas 220. But in FS there was no river!!!. Okay, I corrected the code and inserted one more point. Now river appeared in fs in a shape of letter S, althought the line was more or less somewhere in the middle of direction. I started moving the point east-west, north-…

Hi Guys, maybe You allready knew that Microsft is planning to release a new version of Flight Simulator: Century of Flight in summer of this year. Now I wonder if this will be FS 2004 or just a special version of FS. What do You think?Best regards,Goran BrumenFS Slovenija 2002 teamhttp://slovenia.avsim.net

Hi,I found some code on the forum a while ago that would add crash detection to bgl's called from an api as a library object via fsregen.I have found that when an aircraft nears the object in the sim psychedelic effects appear in the sim, if I remove the crash detection everything seams fine.I have been searching for the forum for the original example to check what I did, I think it was a post by Arno, but I am unable to find it.Could someone point me in the right direction. Thanks,

Hi All It it not my wish to invoke a FS2002 - FS2004 discussion, but wounder whether it is common knowledge, yet, about changes that are being anticipated for Scenery compatibility with FS2004some designers seem to be preparing for the changes(According to their web site), at this stage to suggest they know what changes will take place, effecting their current output.I'll be interested in other viewsDave

Hello all, please forgive the rather newbie question, but I am having some troubles.I have created a new custom ramp texture that is 512 x 512 pixels, 256 colors, and I have made some of the background colors transparent to make the concrete seem uneven as this is to be a small airport. First, what would be the best way to implement this texture as a ramp? I would prefer to have a higher resolution than 1 meter/pixel, as there is writing on the ramp that would be difficult to read at such a low resolution.Second, I would like to add the default "airport grass" texture behind this, in effect carving my airport out of the woods, and excluding the autogen. What would be the …

Hi allDoes anybody know how to place a windsock in an asm file (as bglc code)? I created a building with gmax and would like to add the standard MS windsock to the roof of this building.Doing this in SCASM would be no problem, but I could not find the equivalent bglc instructions.Thanks.ByeJ

I finally found some misc elevation bgls in FS2002.After decompiling I can say that it still seems to work 100% as stated in the FS2000 SDK, so the examples in the SDK may be a good point to start with. The pure existence of that code may not necessarily mean that it works. I'll have to do some testing. Also, I only found SCALE, but not SCALE_AGL. SCALE_AGL may not be supported.I also found one slightly different example: There was one example that had an IFIN1 command after the AREA_SENSE. IFIN1 was using 'usrvar4' as an argument, and values like 20, 18, 16:AREA_SENSEIFIN1 usrvar4, 20, 20SET_ALTITUDEAREA_SENSEIFIN1 usrvar4, 18, 18SET_ALTITUDEetc(these commands are obviouls…

Hi all.I am looking for scenery designers that can spend some time and effort in beta-testing a new software. The application ("BusyObjects") allows you to animate objects in static FS2k+ sceneries. A technology preview has been uploaded to the AVSIM file library about three weeks ago.You define a (key-frame) animation of the moving object in gmax. A BusyObjects script will then export the animation for processing by the compiler. The BusyObjects compiler will use that data (and some parameters) to create API macros that can be played back in static FS2k+ sceneries. At the moment this tools requires you to:1) be an (experienced) BGL coder: You have to insert the object dra…

I had a little look at looking season textures with the new FP TextureList command again.I tried to set the textureclass value to the same value that the LoadBitmap command uses when set to use textures (to be sure it ended up in the BGL correct I changed the hex values of the BGL). But whatever I did the seasons do not work.So this makes me conclude that the new TextureList command does not support seasons and that the only way around this is to use the Fs98 technique of checking the season with IfVarRange and then loading a different texture. It seems M$ has done a step back instead of forward here.Altought I used the SCASM terms here, the same is true for GMax/BGLC of …

I tried to create double sided polygons yesterday in gmax. I remembered that the material name _DS would do the job for me, but I got stuck already in gmax. I found the switch 'doublesided' in the material box, but I didn't find a way to assign different materials to the two sides. Obviously, I really wanted to see how things looked like in gmax before doing the export.I came across this 'trick'. Rather than naming you polygon _DS and making it doublesided, clone-copy and flip it. This creates a new polygon that you can see in gmax and manipulate to your liking (ie drop a texture on it and uvw unwrap it). The mdl exporter won't do anything else, it will do exactly the sam…

Hi Everyone,Quick question, I hope! I am using Ken's LWMDraw4 to try and create some mesh clinging dirt "bush" strips. In the "Select road/line/shoreline or Poly" menu, I an choosing "1185" ;Dirt and setting the appropriate width and layer 4, and creating the points. However, when I go into FS to check it out, the poly is not "dirt" colered, but the same green/tan/black mottled color as the rest of the FS terrain. I am doing my testing in the "summer". I know it is the same mottled terrain color because my poly actually showed up in the middle of the lake I was working next to :(Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

Hi everyone:In my recently uploaded terrain meshes of British Columbia some of the default scenery, particularly lakes, doesn't work well with the mesh. I'm working on patches to improve the visual quality. For lakes on 'mesas', I use Steve Greenwood's great flatten utility to make complex flatten polygons. It's a tedious process, but works well.My question is regarding lakes sunken in and/or being in wrong places : I think the best thing for now is to simply exclude them out of the default scenery, but how do I do that? In my search of this forum, I came across references to Christian Fumey's DefArea utility. Is that the right one to use or are there other, (simpler?) me…

Hello everyone, this is my first post here. I have been browsing the posts, some have helped me greatly (thanks everyone!). I have been giving my first steps in scenery designing with some enhancing of default alaska bush strips. My question here is: am I right that FS has more runway textures than it uses? Or that snow runway texture is used by airports really up north? AND is it possible to have runway texture changing with season to simulate snowfall? I am doing it manually but could I do it automatically? Thanks in advance for your time in replying to me!Rui LaureanoLisboa

All is ok until I get to step 5 Saving. When I click on save I get a message "No material Matches" and thats it I can't proceed. Has anyone come across this problem before ? Any assistance would be appreciatedregardsGilles

Hi all,In designing my Coast-Line-Maker tool (see http://flightsim.computing.dundee.ac.uk/ for latest version), I came across an oddity with the VTP co-ordinates which I glossed over in the program, but a couple of users have spotted it and the reason for it is now puzzling me ...The LOD13 cells are 256 x 256, and I have based the VTP co-ordinates in my program on those dimensions too. However, when I originally produced VTP coasts and LWM polygons with an early version of the program, they DIDN'T align - the VTP segments were a little too far N and W ... I eventually realised that they were out by the values of the LOD13 cell co-ordinates e.g. if the cell was [ 20, 20 ] …

Hi All.I've added a new TDF calculator that simply takes Decimal Latitude and Longitude... so it is more convenient for use with TMFViewer. You can 'set' the lat-long by left clicking a location in TMFViewer, then rightclick and select "set lat/long jump target".Now, under the menu "Jump" + "Lat Long" you can cut'n'paste those values into TMFViewerCalc.... or manually enter the decimal degrees to TMFViewerCalc.TDFCalculatorsAll.zipDick
