    Looks like they bought some satellite data and will be producing sections of the USA as sets of textures. It is impossible to determine the quality of the product from the screenshots. While they look nice they are from such a high altitude that almost anything would look nice. That is the problem with many products that mask low resolution with distant shots. Anyhow, if it is decent resolution for VFR flying I would be interested. Will take a lot of Autogen work to add that stuff so maybe if this catches on someone will automate that process for us.If this is VFR quality then thanks since I could not afford several thousands of dollars for the images.     Hi,Not quite the correct forum, but I thought it would be more useful posting here. I have just finished creating a mesh from contour lines using a free program called "Easy Trace 4.3 for Dos" and thought it may be useful to others.http://www.easytrace.com/work/english/download.htmlThe method is quite tricky (and brain numbing) but I am really pleased with results.The advantage I found with this procedure is it is vector based, so scaling the final greyscale still produces a fairly good result.There are a few tricks to this, and a few other programs needed ( Microdem, DXF2XYZ).Hope this is of use, David.

    Hi everyone. I'm pretty new to scenery design for FS2K2, and I'm trying to add a runway and move some taxiways around an existing default FS2K2 airport. From experimentation and a few other posts I've made on this forum, I understand the general approach (not actually modifying default scenery, etc.) and how to put a background image in Airport to use as a reference for additions. I was successfully able to add a runway and get it to show up in FS, and now I want to be able to add and move some taxiways.     Hi,I'm having some issues with texture distortion...Here's a simple case just to explain it: I have a polygon with a very LARGE width but very LOW height... If I use a 256x256 texture on it, it will be distorted... so, is there anyway that I can manage to use 256x256 or at least 512x512, without having to generate textures with HUGE proportions(like 2048x128), in order to achieve a rather normal image???Many Thanks,Jean.

    Hi there,What I want to do is lower a part of a mesh or cut through it in order to simulate a lower level highway that cuts the new Athens airport in two. There are two aircraft bridges that pass over the highway.My problem are not the bridges. I know how to do that.I can't find a way to cut through the mesh in a nice way or lower the terrain in a straight line! I tried flatten polygons but the shape is very irregular.     Hi all,I have never had to post a problem here as most questions can be answered by doing searches. BTW thanks to all who have posted solutions as they are invaluable.Now to my problem. I am working on a new jetway created in GMAX 1.2.Scale is 1 unit = 1 foot. When I export the design through GMAX using the makemdl from the SDK the model is waaaaaay to big and also moves around the airport with me when I slew. I tried making the unit scale .3048 and it did not make any difference.Pics attachedNow if I create the BGL using the original makemdl that came with GMAX everything is fine. OK so what stupid mistake did I make? Any help would be appreciated.ThanksBigH/KDEN

    Here is our problem with Cellgrid2 and map made by Terrabuilder_Lite. Viewed under shallow angle map covers grid, rendering it invisible. Along with angle being increased the map becomes more and more translucent revealing the grid underneath. However in full top view the map becomes invisible. How to make both: map and grid visible in top view? Thanks for any suggestion. Ted

    I want to build an island... Is it possible to use LWMDraw to do this? So far LWMDraw has been the easiest application to understand and use. I've successfully been able to build an island, but unfortunately it ends up being a big lump of water in the middle of nowhere. I guess I need to know the easiest way to create an island... and if LWMDraw is okay to use, how do I cover the surface with terra firma rather than water! Any ideas would be really appreciated.ThanksDavid

    I am sure that many of you already know this, but you need to be real careful with the chosen file format for VTP textures.I have spent a good part of the last 3 days fighting sporatic problems with my airport skirtings. The problem turned out to be with the texture file format, but it gave the appearence of a problem with the VTP code.I was using 8 bit 256x256 textures. I did this, because some of the Landclass textures are 8-bit normal bitmaps (at least they appeared to be, since they could be loaded into a standard graphics package).Unfortunately, I had eliminated the problem being with the textures, because the scenery would load correctly some times.     I know this has been addressed here before, but I can't recall the exact switch or syntax, and the search feature seems to be completely unmanageable today for some reason. I'm creating a bgl in which I add a bunch of new LWM polys to a cell. How do I exclude the existing water in an area when creating a new LWM poly in that area? I thought there was a switch in one of the macros somewhere that was simpler than creating a new areaFill for each area. Am I remembering it right or is there more to it?thanks,

    Hello guys,How can I make different LOD for scenery objects? For example I have a 10,000 polygon model, I want to change it to 5,000 when looking from a further distance and 2,000 when looking even further. The mipmaps helps a little as it uses less detailed textures from a distance but how does the LOD work? Do I create different models, like removing some parts and saving as a new name?     Hi ALLHere's the final version of LWMDraw4 complete with ALL the documentation. Most of you already know about the new interface and features so I won't go into those details now but I do want to comment and thank Richard "Rumba" Ludowise once again for allowing me to put his LWM Tutorial directly into the menu. I feel that addition alone enhances LWMDraw's ability to introduce the BGLC graphic language and makes it a greatly educational tool. My original thoughts and goals for LWMDraw are far beyond what I ever expected and Richard has been there for me and for many of us as well.     Would it be possible to extract a text list of airports from FS? AFD files store information such as region, country, state, and city, so it seems like it might be possible to extract this into a plain text file.Basically I need a list that has the airport name, ID, Lat/Long, Country, state, and city.     Hi all.Dr. Falko Dienstbach, our own 'Falko', has created another helpful tool:SCM2XY2]The dos tool is a test version... it will transform a SCASM polygon into a VTPm2 polygon. You'll still need to alter the BGLC OUTPUT.ASM for the correct texture, layer, etc.. but it seems to do a very good job with the simple polys I played with.Very nice to have VTPm2s possible from Airport, FSSC...This tool compliments his E0022VTP and SCM2VTP.
