Hi everybody, just another question concerning VTPMethod2 polys, that are _not_ lines. The SDK says something that they should be fan-shaped, but I do not know exactly what is meant by this. Does it mean that there is a restriction on the shape of such polys? Do we have to split up more complex shapes into triangular ones, especially if the shapes are concave? The question interest me because I would like to tranform poly's drawn for FS98 in the procedural section with the SCASM Poly( ... ) instruction to VTP poly's because I think they would merge much better with the surrounding territory and they cling to the mesh, so that I do not have to bother about flattening the …

This is bit of a long shot, here goesI am finding it progressively tiresome positioning and modifying the location of objects, in scasm, using Lat Long coordinates, rather than distanceI have tried using the Transpose() command to offset objects, but wonder whether this is inefficent for those dreaded Frame RatesIs their any utility that may convert Grid Ref's into distance, or even a ratio/formula. Another thought is that even adding and subtracting Grid Ref's is tricky, might it be possible to set up a formula in ExcelAppreciate your thoughtsRegardsDave

Hi all,In FS98 (and FS2000 too I think), it was possible to rotate scenery objects according to the wind direction - useful for flags, ships at anchor etc. The trick was to use variable $C74, something like:TransformCall( Flag: 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 C74 )However, this seems to have no effect in FS2002 - does anyone know the equivalent in FS2002? Is this the reason that FS Architect windsocks don't work in FS2002?Also, is there any way to read the wind speed, so that items like windmills can be turned at different rates depending on wind speed?Thanks for any pointers!Cheers,Iain.

Another one, but not autogen this time.I've excluded the default asphalt polygons with small exclude areas, just big enough to make the polygons disappear (around the ref.point). So the polygons themselves disappear as I want. But, the problem is that a part of the default taxi lights still are there! How does that come? Has anyone else seen this happen? How to get rid of them?

Greeting all,Finally after so long time I've decided to give GMax a try. Especially because of the ability to design an item and save it as an object.I want to make a passenger boarding bridge that I can use many times in a scenery and Mr Ioannou told me that if I make it an Object it will help with the frames.Anyway, I sometimes talk (write) too much, so if I'm getting on your nerves, just tell me to shut up! :-)I have the following very newbie questions regarding GMax.All my 3D designs until now were done in EOD. With EOD I was used to have a reference point and work around it. That is position the object's elements according to their size and placement in relatation…

Hi guysAny thoughts!!Is it considered efficent, through the use of loops/Sub-Routines, to reduce the number of Area() commands that are used in the code structure.I would appreciate your commentsRegardsDave

I'm finally finished with typing all the FS2000 SDK stuff into my decompiler. However I run into problems right at the start.I tried to decompile dynlib.bgl in the scenery bgl. This is a library, and since I can decompile libraries for a long time, I could have tried this beforehand! Don't know where dyn lib objects are called yet, but one thing after the other.The very beginning of dynlib decompiles fine I get this for the lib header: LIBRARY_HEADER 000C2CDA9h,0A9E100AAh,0596711D0h,0B1A18300h, 100, header_end_0000, object_end_0000, 0, 000000040h, 2, 0, "Dynamic Scenery Cessna"This looks ok. Note that this is a lib object of type 2 which may be significant (I assume this …

Just now I uploaded a first (beta) version of a disassembler for files containing vtp and lwm data. I tested it with files assembled from sourcecode with bglc and with original scenery files from MS. It works for all those files that contain lwm data or vtp polys which are not lines. This is still impossible until we understand what the extra bits in the "reserved" areas of structures really do. I have the impression that its mainly the bits in VTPWidePoint type of structures that cause the disassembler to fail.I would be grateful for any comments by members of this group.- osman

Hello.Based in the original AFCAD file of SVMI that came with the SVMI scenery (Caracas, Venezuela), I made 2 overlaid airports, based on the fact that SVMI has virtually 2 airports in 1.In the SVMI International Airport the planes depart and arrive for the runway 9 (9/27). In the Domestic Airport (I called it 2SVM) the planes depart for rwy 8/26 and arrive for 9/27. I created the 2 files and installed it.Now the problem is for arriving. The domestic planes have no problems. They contact ground and get to the gates. In the international airport they arrive without problems, but the arriving planes just stop after getting out of the runway. They never contact ground. Both…

Hi everyone:Still working on patching my LOD7/LOD9 meshes of British Columbia. The problem of the day is visible in the screen shot attached below: it's one of a number of lakes that the good FS2002 people had extra and spread liberally across mountaintops. In other words, the lake doesn't exist in reality and I want it to disappear! I did say, please, but that didn't seem to work ;-)Since there's this huge influx of new scenery utilities and I'm just a poor mesh designer, I'd like to ask you to hazard a guess as to which tool would be the least messy (read: time spent with the manual) to exclude this and other offensive lakes and replace them with good hard earth.Thanks …

Hi,Arno and the rest. The program Bumpy removes the autogen from my airport in a really wide area, so I though I'd be smart and insert a dummy RotatedCall in the end of the code. That did no good, no difference at all. I attach the sca-file exported by bumpy and with my dummy RotatedCall inserted in the end, so you can check if there possibly is something wrong there, or if it is impossible to use a dummy RotatedCall with the source asm Bumpy creates./Sebastian

I would like to know if it is possible to change the morse code identifier associated with a specific ILS?I recently downloaded a scenery upgrade (cyyzfedex.zip) for the Toronto Pearson International Airport. This upgrade includes the new runway 06R/24L. I've noticed, however, that the identifier for 24L is incorrect. When I tune my nav radio to 111.95 for runway 24L, I am decoding an ident of "INV" which is actually the ident for 24R. Runway 24L is suppose to be "IDP".Is there a method or some sort of utility available to change these identifiers? Thank you...Dave:)

Hi GuysI don't know if this is possible, but I am trying to create an Api or textured polygon (in Airport 2.9) that is time sensitive. So that I can make it appear, stay for a short while (a couple of days or so) and then disappear again. I know there is something in Fs2002 that lets fireworks show on November 5th. Can anyone help at all.Most gratefulJohn

Hello,This is a more down-to-earth example. I'm soon turning crazy, as I've been trying to solve this for about 1 month every now and then now, with no luck. :(Look at the enclosed screenshots. The first one shows the problem in a close-up view, the second one is from greater altitude to show you the whole.What might be causing the white area to be without autogen? The AGN-file is ok. The exclude switches I've used have their corners pointed out by the red-white antennas, so that you can see their outlines. Those are not all excludes I have, but the rest are more far away and I think they just can't interfere with this area.The files I have installed in the moment of thos…

A while ago, I prepared a landclass update for the areas surrounding my local airport. I have the .inf and .raw file for it still.I am trying to fire up LCA to continue editing it, but it only launches with a blank set of fields, and I can't seem to import/load the changes I've already made into the program! It's probably dirt simple, but I can't seem to figure out how to do it. Can anyone help out?Thanks,-Greg

I'm creating a terminal in GMAX, ok for now (I have not really started with the material editor yet) and I want to get my untextured scenery into FS2002- I can do so fine by compiling my object into a BGL and seeing it in FS, but I'd like to be able to place it with Airport (as much as a test as anything- to slap Shez' jetway macros on it) I'm now going around in circles in creating the library object.Here's what I've done...Compiled into BGL, saving the files (*.asm) from there I go nowhere fast. I can decompile the object into the SCA file but I can't seem to do anything with it- I have not tried recompling as I already have a usable BGL to begin with. I just want a lib…

Hi!This time I try to develope my first dynamic scenery. But there are some problems with it, so I ask the pros.I want to design working holdingpoint-lights. The object :Pinzgauer is a vehicle and works fine yet. The object in the :TWYF-comman line contains the groundtexture and the polygones for lights above ground. This also works fine. But I have problems with the red lights.I want that FS monitors the RWY, if in use the lights should appear (:StopF)Here the code:Set( Area15mx 32 )Header( 1 N49:00:00.00 N48:00:00.00 E015:00:00.00 E014:00:00.00 )LatRange( N48:00:00.00 N49:00:00.00 )Area15( N48:15:70.00 N48:12:70.00 E014:14:00.00 E014:07:00.00 N48:15:70.00 N48:12:70.…

Hi,I read thru a lengthy thread in the forum discussing adding crash detection to an api created from gmax using fsregen.I exported the file in gmax, loaded the *.asm file in fsregen.Then clicked "create library source file".I edited this file to look like this:; Library Compiler - fsregen v0.31b by G.Ioannu ; Freeware. Commercial use is prohibited.; header label word dw 0001 dd 000989D57H dd 0FF6914C5H dd 07FFFFFFFH dd 080B60B62H dw 22 dup(0) dd (offset LIBRARY_DATA) - (offset header) dw 10 dup(0) dd 0EF4CDDC7h dd 011D72CD4h dd 0EF4CDDC7h dd 011D72CD4h dw 14 dup(0)LIBRARY_DATA label word dd (offset LIBRARY_0) - (off…

I have used Easy Navs NDB editor to create several NDBs that are used as Final Approach Fixes at Canadian Airports and are not in the original FS database files. These tune up and ident just fine on FS2002. I would like to get them to appear on my map view and on the GPS view. I have used AFCAD to open and edit Airport nav facilities (ILS, DME and GS) and these appear on the map and GPS views. There are no NDBs available to be inserted when you open an airport. I have tried opening a nearby facility and have used the insert NDB command, entered all the data, recompiled the file, and had the new NDB show up like it's suppose to, BUT, the orginal facility now disappears…

Hi, although I dont post in here very often, I visit this forum 5-10 times a day and find the info very interesting.I am recovering from a dislocated shoulder and fractured collar bone at the moment and stuck in bed, using the laptop best I can with one hand.Today I have been reading the posts about sca2xy2 and airport polygons. The procedure works ok but can default airport polygons be excluded, part of the default is "sticking out" from the new shape.Thanks, David

I read somewhere that steep gradients are retextured by FS2K2 to look like bare rock. Does anyone know how to turn that function off?I would prefer to retexture steep valleys directly because in Hawaii, vegetation clings to almost everything and bare granite-like rock is not very realitic...thanks in advance

OK I find that while TerraScene works, the files are rather large. Is a freeware program/programs available that use USGS date Land Class, Land Use, 7.5 Dems and Shape files available or, in the works. Is their a reasonable cost program available that will do this?Riochard;

Hi allI am trying to understand the relationship between the Points() & Poly() commands and Vecpoints() command, It's the Vector's that I am struggling with!!!Points( 0 0 790 10 ; 0 7 790 -4 ; 1 -6 790 -4 ; 2 0 593 10 ; 3 7 593 -4 ; 4 -6 593 -4 ; 5 )Poly( -30083 0 12986 4.10 5 3 0 2 )Poly( 30083 0 -12986 -4.10 5 3 0 2 )I understand that the 5,3,0,2 refers to the point's, I think!!!The second entry is 'Double sided'It's the first four No's which I am struggling with, I think they are (vx vz vy len)The 'Len'= length or distance in refpoints, may …
