Hi everyone, I have created a few buildings for my scenery using Gmax. I then grouped them together into an object library using Arno's XML object library creator. (BTW excellent program Arno!!) I then placed the buildings in my scenery as macros using FsArchtitect. Until now everything worked perfectly. The buildings showed in the scenery as well, but I encountered two problems: 1. The buildings only showed up once I set the display setting in Fs2004 to dense. Lower than that the buildings disappeared, even though I set the display setting to very sparse in FsArchitect.2. How am I going to adjust the V1 parameter for the buildings? I've tried modifying it from Architect…

My project mainly involves correcting an ocean coast surrounding an island covering 4 cells. My first cell is 46,195. The associated LWM default file is HP905240.bgl. Using bglpatch, it couldn't find the default file when I used SceneryOcensceneryHP905240.bgl. When I copied the file into the bglpatch directory, it worked correctly, and also created the SceneryBackup directory with the files in the path. I am assuming the .dat file is correct (all 00 bytes except for one which is 01).I will be working on 46,194 next so will check out how subsequent edits of the default file work.scott s..

Hi simmers,I build an fiction airport in Thailand, when I taxi to a gate I get an building crash but there is no building around.I build that airport with FSSC 1.5.11 and check the exclusion button.Then I removed the airport to see if there is a building but there is no building or any object around. Maybe somebody want to see it happen with Your Fs too. If start at N 15 57.22 E 100 30.51 heading 90 degree after a few meters You will get a crash.If I slew to the crash position and go back to normal the aircraft is stucked I can pull full throttle no moveSomebody knows a solution. Im not a scenery designer but had a question and an idea I thought might be of (marginal?) interest to some here. Being an inveterate tinkerer, I downloaded the MS special effects SDK. In it, I found instruction and some sample code on creation of a forrest fire. I compiled it and low and behold...a small fire now burns permanently east of KSEA. Very neat. It occurred to me as being a little surprising that given this very big "hint" on how to do this particular effect, that nobody has included it as a part of a scenery package...particularly out west and in S. Hi I am new to the forums and scenery design and want to start my first remake of KORH (Worcester Regional).I have GMAX,FS gamepack,Airport 2.60,AFCAD,BGLcomp,PSP7,and the MS SDK installed.I am fairly new to GMAX but I figured out how to make simple structures and texture them.What I would like to know right now is how to add more apron to the exsiting airport.Also what additional programs I need.

Microsoft forgot a major lake (or a few hundred) here in Michigan. Can anyone suggest for me what might be the easiest way to add the lake back in? I'm not very experienced with the mechanics of scenery design, is there any quick and easy way to add this in???Regards, Steve

Hello allI'm trying out the possibilities with the use of effect lights instead of the Light(..)-command in SCASM for my custom runway and approach lights macro. After FS2004 the Light()-command is almost useless because of the short range the lights have. With the use of Light() in my macro I have the possibility to place the lights around with x y z values. For my approach light poles I have used TransformCall. Now that I'm replacing the lights with effects I need to place my effects with x y z values as well. Hello, I am working on some G2k4 scenery project but ran into a problem:I cannot reassign landclass values in G2k4. I am seeing slight data corruption using the Martin Wright's great Convim w/dlls (latest versions) some times the 0-0-0 rgb values that are used to get alpha mask are changed to 1-1-1 (only near adjacent colored pixels).I verified that the original 24bit bmp data is clean (0-0-0) but that after conversion to Dxt1 via Convim the corruption occurs.I have preferred MW's programs for the high quality conversions and mipmaps over previous MS tools as the results of the MS tool was very poor mips and the results were completely unacceptable.My bmps are 10000x10000 in size and result in more than 1400 dxt1 bmps.thoughts and comments appreciated.Thanks.

I was working on my G2k4 scenery and went to compile, and when it got to "Night lines" step 1 it gave me a compile error. Looking in the Ground2k4.log it had this listed:Start 6/23/2004 12:23:46 AMVerify : degenerated poly at bitmap : X= 3795.34560863723 Y= 1576.96113629139End 6/23/2004 12:24:25 AMI don't know what degenerated poly means? Furthermore, this was off a poly that I drew (and compiled) yesterday? All of a sudden today it is not compiling? These polys are water polys which are sections of a river. I have encountered a problem where when I hit ctrl s to see the taxiways I see nothing but green grass. I have recently added some scenery's but I'm not sure what to remove or where to look for the appropriate files can anyone help?regards Rob Linsell

I am having a problem with ground 2k4. I am trying to make ground textures for my new airfield. I am following the directions in a tutorial. The tutorial says to use ltp1. Ground2k4 won't let me. That option is grayed out. I have been trying to use ltp2. But I can't get the texture I selected to show up. Using ltp1 it said to attach the texture using a button. That button is not available to me. It is grayed out. How can I fix this. I have been at this for 2 days now to no avail.

Hello,I'd like to make the coastlines more accurate then the default scenery that ships with FS2004. I've had success in scenery design for the following areas: 1. Custom 3D object insertion using GMAX and 3DSmax 2. Airport modification using AFCAD 3. Modification to AI scenery using TTools 4. Extensive terrain modification using Global Mapper, seamless.usgs.gov and the resampler utility from the Terrain SDK.One area of scenery design I'd like to work on is VTP and LWM. Hi!I am trying to make some animation in a vehicle which is part of dynamic scenery library. I am doing it using FSDS2 and SCASM, all the tweaking by hand. What I am trying to do is for example move whole vehicle smoothly (!) few meters ahead or raise a part on the vehicle for a meter or two again, smoothly. I have been strugling to do this animation for the last two days and I haven't succeed. I can do it in flip/flop way but to animate it... HelloI noticed a weird thing hapening around my add on airport (that I designed). When I leave the airport and fly away and then come back, I notice that sometimes, a wide spot around the airport looses its autogen. Very weird. I do not know what is causing this to happen. Is it because when I come back to it the drawing process of the airport is not done correctly yet autogen gets missing from a wide spot around it?Any idea?ThanksMichel

My first G2k4 project (Grand Teton using Holger's satellite image) is gradually getting there. It's a slow process but I think I'm starting to get the hang of it! I've also used Holger's tutorial to amend some of the default flattens.Here are two pics I've taken of how it looks so far. I've done most of the lakes, but I still need to add rivers and roads. I also think I'll amend some of the shores to be less jagged in areas. One of the pics shows the outline of an island in a lake. I have amother island in the same lake and as far as I know both have the same properties. However one shows but the other doesn't. I'll keep looking into that. http://forums.avsim.net/user_fil…

I've created a new airfield using AFCAD 2.21. The airfield is just a single grass runway with runway numbers, a centreline, and an AVGAS facilty. Everything is OK except that it is only visible in the GPS map at a zoom of 15nm or less although adjactent airfields are visible at 20nm and higher zooms. It is visible in the main FS map. It also appears in the GPS Nearest Airport list and shows the correct details when selected in this list and clicking the ENT button.Is this a FS characteristic or have I done something wrong?Thanks in advance

Hi all.I recently looked at a problem with VTP lines and an odd memory loss connected with them.What I discovered was that when we make VTP lines or polys, and use named textures ( rather than the numbers in the terrain.cfg file ), we must be careful with the use of a twin "TEXTURE" folder... just like landclass!If our BGLs use a named texture, all the textures used must be in the local "TEXTURE" folder, or we cannot have a local "TEXTURE" folder at all! If we intend to place the named textures into "...worldtexture", that's fine, but then we can't have some in the local "TEXTURE" folder. Have them all in one folder or another.Also, we cannot have an empty "TEXTURE" folde…
