Hi all,Any Scottish members? If so, have you come across what I have dubbed 'fantasy island'?http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/96155.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/96156.jpgAs you can see it appears to be a body of land situated a few miles due east of the Forth Estuary. It even comes populated with autogen!I have recently installed Scotflight Scenery ver.2.0c but I am pretty sure that it is not the cause. Disabling either Scotflight or ScotflightLandClass has no effect - the island/textures persist.Just wondering whether others have come across this anomaly and/or know what installation is responsible and what to do to get rid of these textures?I posted this in t…

I used NovaSim successfully for several buildings in the FS2004 upgrade for my Vancouver International Airport last February. Recently, in undertaking a further upgrade, I have encountered some serious problems using NovaSim, in that I could not get the textures to draw properly on my new buildings. The buildings are simple, and I have used the textures elsewhere before. In the bitmap page of the NovaSim part I was working on, I marked out a strip of texture with the 4

Hi, I thought it might be appropriate to post this message where the experts hang out. I am trying hard to increase the realism of the landscape in Michigan. In particular, south east michigan (livonia, plymouth, 1D2, etc.) and the Detroit area. I am now ready to buy a third-party add-on, but am a little confused as to what "features" I should be looking for. For example, I know that in my area the mesh/terrain is relatively flat, so that's not AS important to me as the overall look of the landscape. So far, I believe that products such as FScene 2004, FSGenesis, MyWorld 2004 may meet my needs. Are there any others I should consider? What are your thoughts on these…

Does anyone have a solution to my problem?If I go into top-down view in FS9 to find coordinates using the FSUIPC or FSConnect link to Afcad2 or FSTFlatten, at low altitide, say over a helicopter pad, the aircraft obscures the detail underneath so it is difficult to position the "cross" accurately. The easy solution would be to have an invisible aircraft, but how do you do this?George

Could someone please tell me where I need to install MSXML4? Everywhere that I've looked including Microsofts site, seems to leave that one detail out (and, is it just the msxml4.dll that i need or is there more to it)?When I attempt to export an object (mainly buildings) from GMAX to the /.../addon scenery/scenery folder I get the .MDL file, but no .XML file. I've become pretty proficient at building design and having built several local landmark buildings, I'd like to finally see them in my FS. Thanks for any assistance, Rick Tobin

Hi all,I'm new to scenery design, and a new user of SBuilder. What I'm trying to do is bring a Shapefile of forest polygons into SBuilder so that they'll render as VTP polygons in FS (so that I can preserve the shape of distinctive looking forest patches in the sim).The problem is that SBuilder gets confused over complicated concave polygons. It tends to create almost a convex hull around them. It seems to handle simple concave polygons well, by splitting the poly into triangles, but with more complicated shapes, SBuilder's algorithms lose the original shape of the poly.So I was wondering if anybody has any experience in pre-processing these complicated concave polygon…

Hi Folks,I'm missing something very basic on a very simple FS2002 airport design on a Pacific island using AFW.I need to create a very tiny island in the Pacific, and place a single coral runway on it.I drew a "blocky" island, and placed a coral runway on it. It compiled fine and when I look at it with the top-down view on FS2002, it still looks good. But I place the aircraft on the Rwy, look out the window, and the ocean seems to meet the edge of the Rwy. No land is visible. If I taxi sideways off the Rwy, I go into water, like the island isn't there.I have surrounded the island with a flatten polygon hoping that would harden the island, but no luck.What am I missing bes…

Hi,If you have installed SBuilder 2.02, you may get a 2.03 beta and test Reprojection of Raster Bitmaps files into the "Geographic WGS84" system. Before SBuilder reprojected BLN vector files only. Now you can select "Bitmap" in addition to "BLN".The bitmaps must be in 24-bit format. If the input file is called my_original.bmp, a sister file with the name of my_original_bmp.txt should be present in the same folder with some lines to specify the boundaries. Somewhere back in this forum was a thread advising against building large numbers of objects in one GMax file. I think the rationale behind this was the visibility issue as the objects extended well away from the 0, 0 datum.If the alternative is to create a BGL for individual objects (or say a group fairly close together) then the end result is a large number of BGL's for your scenery area.Is there any advantage in combining a number of these BGL's into one file by using SCLink or similar or would this defeat the original issue?My thought was to merge files like lighting poles from my current 30 plus into one BGL.boneshttp://fsaviation.nethttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/i…

I'm trying to develop some waterclass and I'm running into some problems.1. The SDKs don't really cover it, except the list of textures.2. It appears that waterclass bgls compiled with the Fs2002/2004 resample won't display in TMFViewer. It gives "can't open file"I note that the file size is about 1 or 2 k, about the same as for a landclass passed throught fs2k2 resample.3. By experiment, and searching the old messages, I ran the same raw and inf through the old fs2000 resample, and it generates a file of about 66k (includes the entire raw file data) and after tmf2bgling it, it will display in TMFViewer.4. Hi folks,I am new to this forum. I have been searching for an answer to this question, but all attempts have failed.When I try to install Ground 2k4 v5, I get the following error message in a popup window when I click the setup.exe icon:"Cannot find file: C:ground2k4_v5SETUP.EXE (or one of its components). check to ensure the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are available." I have started to add a road and carpark to the small airfield I have created. As I use the VFR Photographic Scenery for the UK, the actual base area is simply flattened and the runway and parking areas (all grass) have been added using AFCAD. Everything else has been created using a mix of FSSC (flattens, API's) and Gmax (Buldings). I have also created the road and car park using FSSC, however they have clear sharp edges.Is there a way of making this more realisting by blending the edges more so that they are not so sharp. I have also noticed that the texture I have used tends to stretch something awful and just looks like a grey blur. Is there a specific setting for the…

I am trying to put down a photoreal texture on the ground with G2K4. I find that if you draw a VTP2 poly which traverses across a grid line (LOD13 block I think) on the GUI of G2K4 then on compilation I find the FS2004 texture is repeated. If you keep to a LOD13 block then the texture is applied in whole. Can someone confirm this?ThanksShez
