Yeah, I'm a dinosaur, but at least I'm a happy dinosaur.Anyway, does the new RWY12 package work in FS2002? I downloaded a scenery created with RWY12, but it doesn't show up with the traditional installation. Is it enough to just add the .bgl and texture files like any other scenery, or does something from the RWY12 package have to be installed as well?Also, has anyone tried actually creating a RWY12 scenery in FS2002?

I have been putting this small airfield together over the past few months expirementing here and there. Finall opted for a mixture of FSSC and Gmax. Now I am putting the AFCAD together, although I have created the runway, it will not show up in the scenery in FS9. I am sure that I have got this to work in the past but do you think I can this time. It is there as I can pick the runway direction in create flight, just cannot see it...help pleaseThanksPaul

HI ALL,Can anyone help, i am trying to make some additions to Wellesbourne Mountford (EGBW) with Lee Swordy's excellent AFCAD 2.21, i have manged to add ILS/DME which show up in FS9, but when adding RWY lighting or Tavi/Apron Lights they do not show at all, I am editing the British Airports File, also Buildings or static aircraft are hit and miss as well, i have placed them using RWY12, sometimes they show somrtimes they dont, does anyone have any ideas?.THXPaul

Hi All. I have a question about magnetic data in FS04. It is rather old now and in most locations the magnetic variation does not match current terminal procedure chart values and runway magnetic headings. I would also believe that some navaids are now not accurate in their magnetic settings.As far as I know there is the magdec.bgl and there is some more magnetic data in the airport sections of the scenery bgl files. My questions deal with how do they interact and who uses what and when. 1. What function does the magdec.bgl file provide? 2. What function does the magnetic data provide in the scenery files? 3. Hello I'm working on a Gmax version of Brussels Airport, Belgium. All the 3D objects are (or will be) made with Gmax. But now I'm looking for a good way to make runways, taxiways and approns with custom textures. So if you would use AFCAD or SceneGenX, you can only use the standard flight sim textures. But I want to import custom textures and custom ground markings. I could do it in Gmax, with the zbias_ prefix for the material names. But I'm having troubles to create smooth taxiway lines. Another problem are the edge-lights. In Gmax you would have to place every single light, which is a huge job on a large airport.Furthermore on a particular taxiway, I want to apply cust…

Hi Guys,I'm just experimenting with an airfield in the mountains. There are a lot of trails in the hilly area next to the airfield which have to be implemented. Unfortunately these small trails affect the mesh-terrain like large highways.I've seen in Austria Professional that their roads don't affect the Mesh-Terrain. Does anybody know how to do that?ThanksSasa

SCASM Dot Command and the FS2004 UpdateHas anyone noticed the difference in the night display of SCASM Dot commands between the original FS2004 and the update?I am finding the DOT's much bigger and more solid when viewed from a distance and more solid when viewed up close. Before the update, the lights had a more natural diffused appearance and were barely noticeable at large distances. In my opinion the DOT command was much better in the origianl FS2004. The DOTs now look pretty ugly and detract from the night views of sceneries that use them.I seriously doubt that MS will consider a patch, but it would be welcome.Does anyone know of substitute ways to achieve lights …

Hi all,I created a new little fictional airport as a programming exercise which has turned out fine. The runway is The code compiles and I would have expected something at least to appear in my approach 'choices' menu. But nothing - zilch - still only visual.Can anyone point me in the right direction? BTW the fixIdents I've used are the nearest intersections from the flightplanner that seemed appropriate.Hope someone can shed some light on this because I'd love to understand this stuff.

This version used to work but now the control panel opens but the graphics screen does not. Stopping the program (X at top right) removes it from the screen but the exe remains and Task Manager is needed to kill it. The LWMViewer "stable version" works ok. I have re-downloaded and reloaded 1.4b as well as the two macros. No help??Dick Boley @KLBE

I was wondering if anyone had a good SceneGenX Tutorial? I am still having problems setting up the background bitmap, getting everything aligned correctly etc.What is the best way to get everything set up, and what are some good pointers to make sure you get everything in the right place, right headings, etc.Thanks ahead of time,AJ

I inserted five new default bridges across the Fraser River channels in my Vancouver International Airport scenery (CYVR4.1.zip) with Ground 2k and since applying the FS9.1 patch, these have disappeared! When I try a default scenery.cfg file, the four default bridges (I had excluded these for my CYVR4.1) are not there either! It seems as though the new bridge function in FS9.1 might have removed the old default bridges

I am working on Oakland (KOAK) and have assembled a nice arial for the airport from Terraserver images.A while ago, I sucessfully placed these very well using FS Architect. I was wondering if anyone would recommend another program to do this. I wish only to place the photos, and then work the airport with other programs such as Airport and Novasim.Any help would be appreciated.CHEERS :D

Hi Gentlemen I am presently engaged in writing routes for the Empire Airmail Service of Imperial Airways. Usually the Short S23 only flew by day,and aircraft are able to alight on Lake ,Sea or River without any problem.However in order to present the actual routes as per timetable,some destinations would be reached at night and therein lies the problem,how does one alight at night? Is there any means of making a flarepath that could be positioned at appropriate destinations. As an old flying boat pilot,we used to have a line of small flare boats aligned with the wind direction.Could a means of placing a series of lights in the Sea etc,at sealevel be possible?I …

Are there any freeware programs (other than ground2k4) that can change the position of roads, bridges, and waterway edges in FS9? I can't even install ground2k4, and nobody seems to know why (or they are not telling).Any help would be greatly appreciated.Take care,--Matt

Hi Guys,I'm looking for help with Library Creator XML by Aron Gerretsen. I've created several scenery objects with gmax and exported them in the FS Scenery Object (*mdl) format. No problems there. I get a mdl file as well as an xml file.I run Library Creator XMl and create a new library. Then as a test I add two mdl files, save the xml file and then compile the bgl. Everything appears to be OK.I'm trying to use this newly created Library with Rwy12. I moved the files to the appropriate folders and run Rwy12.In the category drop down menu in Rwy12, the new library doesn't appear but the two objects do show up as individual selections. Gday all.I am creating a sound FX for a scenery and have the desired sound however i cant work out how to create a custom Sound Type and Sound Param.The only one i can get to work isSound=5Sound Param=40 ( barnyard effect )( im looking for a large booming explosion )Could someone please point me in the right direction as to where this data is kept so i may add another Sound Param or atleast get a listing of the available Sound Params for FS9thks & rgds Jeff

Hi all:I completed some experiments with photoreal textures plus autogen (via Rhumba's VTP2 method) in FS2002 and FS2004 and wanted to share a few results. For those of you unfamiliar with the method I have attached an outline at the bottom of this post.1. I wonder if anyone can help please.We're trying to install the scenery for some IFLOLS ( meatballs ) similar to the type used on a aircraft carrier into FS9.When we use FS SC and choose zero height in the program, the IFLOL scenery created floats in the air about 40 feet off the ground. FS SC won't let you put negative numbers in and I'd just like to know how we can change the scenery so it sits on top of the runway.Many thanksClive

I've always used Terrabuilder here, but for one project I have a funny-shaped image which would need to be blended with the default -- I know that SBuilder can do this, with the help of an alpha mask. I've made the mask, and everything seems to work ok -- I get a bunch of texture files, each with an alpha mask -- and a BGL file. Unfortunately the simulator crashes when I attempt to load this BGL. Any ideas what I'm missing here?
