I cannot seem to get specific road types to appear from ESRI shapefiles. I am using MapEdit to view the files. I tell ESRI to download the roads info which it does. Then, in MapEdit, I am asked for the type of item. I have tried FROM FIELD and FROM LIST to no avail. All of the roads show up as one visual type and when examining the properties of a road it is always "unknown".This is probably procedural errors on my part but there are no help files for MapEdit so it is down to just trying combinations, which to daate have been fruitless..???Dick Boley @KLBE

Using MapEdit to convert shape files to Polish format for use in Sbuilder. During the conversion some items are not properly identified It seems that some polygons are being converted as outer looking which makes them part of the water area. Hi, I need some help. I am using FS9 with USA Roads and need todo some excludes (if possible). What I want to do is keepthe FS9 bridge and exclude the USA Roads depiction of the samebridge as shown on the attached jpeg. Am I able to do this with a scasm exclude file and, if so,could someone post an example for me to follow. I have readother posts, followed examples, and have gotten no where withit. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Dave

Hi all,I edited th ground textures surrounding an airport. But somehow there appeared to be these weird snow-colored rectangles during spring. This wouldn't be bad at all, if everywhere else the textures showed up alike. But they don't, all other cells of the ground are coloured as grass, when these are just snow. I've discovered that this somehow refers to the LOD13 cells of the ground. Could someone tell me, how can I get rid from this problem? Okay my problem. I installed FSG mesh for California and afterwords I noticed the bridges got messed up. Now that I think about it the bay entrance has gotten wider so now the bridges are very long.Has anyone else had this problem after installing the mesh? I can live with it to a point but I would like to try and fix it if possible?Any help appreciated.No doubt about it...Ronson2k

Hi all,I'm experimenting with the OceanHeightField.bmp and I'm having no luck. Before editing the bmp in Photoshop, I convert it to rgb so I can apply filtering then back to index. Afterwards I save it as a 96dpi bmp and then place it in the main texture folder. Problem is, is when I try to start up a flight, the loading screen stops at 68% every time and then crashes. Are there particular criteria to exist for the bmp to be successful? Can you recommend maybe another editor to use?I'm talking about FS9.1 btw.

I want to make new taxiway signs in an aiport, deleting the old ones. to delete them i make an exclude switch, BUT it also prevents new signs from showing up.How could i make the new ones show up?Thank you

I just had a look at v29 of scenegenx and thought i'd follow the tutorial..I have bglxml and bglanalyze so found the files required to disassemble .. neither prog will put them into xml like in the tutorial for sgx29... it either says old file type or not an afd file.... i must be missing something in their respective help files or sgx...anyone help please ??running fs9 on winMe..thanksgazps... used bglxml 1.50 to get all the stuff from vehicles, generic etc in fs9 ... no problem with them.;(

Hello all,Last night I decided to dive into the world of scenery creation. Part of my decision was that I am determined to make sceneries addons for KCOS, KMSN, and KPSP in FS9 since in all my years of flight simming there has not been any addons for these airports. I was wondering where do I start, what software do I need, how challenging really is it to make some scenery for small regional airports, advice, etc.?Thanks a lot.

Hi all,installed the update to 9.1 without problems but noticed something interesting when looking at before-after screenshots I took.The first image is before patch installation: my own LOD10 mesh (TMVL=20) and scenery, at Stewart, B.C. (CZST).The second image is after patch installation, same situation, same settings. If you save the two images and switch back and forth rapidly you'll notice that the VTP2 roads are slightly but noticeably displaced in the second shot. The apparent change in the coastline is actually the shoreline texture getting displayed differently, i.e., the LWM polygons don't seem to change. It looks like the update somehow changes the way VTP2 code…

Hello Everyone,I am using topographic maps downloaded from Terraserver using USAPhotoMaps to modify the default scenery with Ground2K4. I began the project using a satellite image but was convinced that topo maps are much more useful. After deciding to use the topo maps, I deleted the LWM, BAK and BGL files made using the satellite images. I then drew Sylvan Lake along the road into Yellowstone National Park from Cody, Wyoming. However, the lake did not appear in Flight Simulator. I redrew the lake and deleted the BGL files and recompiled but can't get the lake to appear. What I want to do is change some of the landclass designations around my local area, but I'm unsure if I have to create something NEW, or if I can do this to the default FS scenery.If it is possible to open and edit default scenery, could someone please explain how to go about finding one's local area among the many unnamed files in FS? What type of numbering system is used for various areas of the world? I have many of the utilties available, including Ground2k4, Terrabuilder Lite, USA Photomaps, ERDAS viewfinder w. Hi gents,I've got a little glitch that I'm attempting to work around, and I thought I'd harness the collective mind to help solve it...I'm attempting to lay down a small (2 LOD13 areas) VTP2 poly with a "253" texture and a couple of custom terrain tiles. I've got the process working pretty well with one exception. I've created an alpha channel in my image to mask out the water (this scenery is on a coast) and even though the textures are saved as DXT1 w/alpha, I'm getting a shadow over the water where the mask is. I've attached a pic for clarity. Is is not possible to overlay a VTP2 poly and have it completely masked for the water?thanks,

How do you run this thing? Where does the .bgl file it creates end up after it's created. I know where to put the finshed BGL but I cant find the one it created (If any was done)I just cant figure out how to run the compiler or what to do with the text file i created to run with the compiler.Do you have togo to a dos command to run it. If I click on the exe file it just flashes fast. Nothing happens! How do you direct the text file to it or just run it at all. Im lost. God knows Im forgetting something but who knows what.Help!!Thanks Jim

Hi All - After reading the dialog between several flight simmers at "SceneryDesign.org" on their attempts to remove taxiway signs, I decided to try it myself using FSSC. I chose the large Canadian airport I'm familiar with. I used the exclude mechanism in FSSC because I find it easier to use than "Excbuilder". It's easy to drag your exclude around the editor and change the verticle and horizontal values quickly. I started with a 4000 x 8000 ft. exclude and dropped it where I knew a large group of signs were. I was careful not to put it over the airport reference point which is located next to the control tower. To make my exclude easy to find in FS9, I placed a tree …

Hi all,Maybe answered before, but I have run into a severe problem - cannot get rid of some autogen telegraph poles that stand in the final approach.I already tried with all excludes available in ExecBuilder and also in Ground2K4 but the poles are still showing.Anyone have a clue what layer to exclude or how else you can get them chopped down.Bjorn
