While working on an airport, how do you delete the default scenery for the airport, or just parts of it?

I fly from EIWT, Weston Airfield, Co Kildare in Ireland. Since this airfield is currently undergoing a substantial expansion the FS9 default version no longer bares much resemblance to the real thing. As there is no good downloadable version I decided to have a go myself.Using SceneGenX I created an exclude rectangle and laid out the runways and taxiways as they now appear. There used to be runway 07/25 (asphalt) and runway 18/36 (grass). 18/36 has been removed and replaced with a grass strip running parallel to the (now extended) asphalt runway. My new scenery reflects this change but FS still shows a textured area where the old grass runway used to be and also unde…

Good Morning Members.Apologies in advance if this forum is incorrect for my posting but I thought it the best place to start.Does anyone have any ideas on how to make the Landing light poles for Tenerife North 30 sit correctly in relation to the approach terrain. I enclose a screen shot taking whilst on the R/W but facing the poles.I know that in reality, they are situated on the side of rising ground, but the virtuality is that when making an approach, the aircraft fly straight through the middle of the poles. Many ThanksPaul

  6. hi,i dont know much about the programming of fs. i think i might be interested in altering the default atc to allow use of real world approaches/departures. has anyone done this? or is this the right forum? i know this may be a challenge, i dont know a lot of code, but i am familiar with some of the older languages, as well as actionscript 2. i'm pretty sure i can pick up the programming - maybe a bit slowly. it seems like altering the atc would just require a series of if/then statements and some learning about how the voice works. anyone feel like telling me this is ridiculous and its far more complex? how would i approach learning more about this. - it seems like…

Hello there!Just a question, simple one, promise :-hmmm When I make a model and put in a library it gets this 32 long number. Now I know that 32 to the power of 16 is VERY many items :-eek But what happens if two designers actually have the same numbers aplied on two very dissimilar objects, say a rwy-sign and a cathedral?Does FS place; A: both, B: none or C: flicks between them?Anyone?/Bqt

Hi to all,a two years ago I created airport via AirportForWindows(AFW)2.6 and some objects (mainly ground bitmaps) in this scenery was made by my own scasm code inserted into AFW. Now I instaled AFW 3.0, loaded the airport I made and and I don't know how to modify scasm code inserted by me in version 2.6. When I select "Edit Selected Obect", radiobutton "Custom Scasm Object Insert" is checked. But when I click on button "SCASM", nothing happens.Does anybody know how to do it ?Thanks. milan

I have been placing helipads on non-hardened surfaces and these work ok, except that the statement type="NONE" doesn't work, I always get an "H" in a circle. To get round this, I thought I could perhaps set the lat/long to 90/0. Is it true that one cannot fly to the North Pole within FS? If so, I could create a mound of helipads that no-one would ever see.Any ideas?George

I seem to remember on the Eurowings Commuter set for FS2002, there was a BAe 146 that would display a tug on the front wheel when the engines where shut down. There was also a Ground Power Unit that appeard whenever the ground power switch n the aircraft was switched on.I would like to know if it is possible to do this to other aircraft, say when a door is open some stairs wold appea, or if this was something that was hard coded ino the aircraft during it's creation. Thanks for any info.-Phil

Hello,I am trying to get rid of a static aircraft object in a scenery I downloaded, and I am wondering if it's possible to decompile a BGL and see what models are within the file. I have tried the XML program, but it tells me that there is no facilities data...I am at a loss here. So, is there a way I can at least get a list of what is within a .BGL file? Thanks!

I am curious what other lake/river/coastline developers do with the MS-default scenery files, such as H*928170.bgl, that must be modified (in most cases, default lakes/river/coastlines removed from the default).I have seen developers include the modified default file in their add-on, but instead of backing up the default file and copying the modified file into the default location (e.g: FS9scenerynamescenery), they place the modified default file into their addon folder. To me, the problem with this method is that there is the potential to have modified default scenery files covering the same location all over the place, making it highly likely that the user sees multiple…

Folks,Is there a list of the effects distributed with FS9? Is the flashing light (green/white/red) an effect? Jon

Folks, I've used rwy12 and SceneGenX for non-airport object placement, but I am looking for something more sophisticated. I want to be able to click and drag my objects, and easily access my own custom objects. What else is available (payware fine)?EDIT: This is for FS2004; I'm using XML, so it's fine if I just get code fragments I can cut and paste into my main code.Jon

Hello all, after a long delay caused by a serious family illness I've finally got around to the new release. Since the last full release at the end of last year there are many new features, though they were included in the temporary updates. Since the last update there is one major new feature: the ability to 'paint' landclass over the LWM/VTP bitmap. The manual contains a number of detailed tutorials. The last tutorial allows you to build an imaginary island with coastlines, lakes, roads, towns - and a volcano! This screenshot illustrates objects automatically aligned with roads, in this case FS2000-style buildings that create a small town. Unlike normal autogen, the …
