    Hi,I was modifying an existing airport (VIAX) which to begin with was just a runway. I followed instructions on AFCAD and added taxiways and other stuff which went fine. When I opened the airport in FS, the taxiways and parkings had trees and and shrubs on them. No problem, AFCAD had instructions to a link hosted by microsoft as how to "exclude" the dynamic scenery but it categorized that for objects, navaids. I used object exclusion switch in scenery.cfg and all the objects from that latitued and longitude disappeared. What switch should I use to make just the trees and shrubbery disappear?I could not find any instructions on AFCAD help or microsoft for that matter.Pleas…

    I am trying to use this for the first time to model better a small island. I have been following the excellent Ground2k for Beginners, but I have a very basic problem that I can't get round.I have got to the point of inserting a road, but made a mistake with one of the points positioned a long way from where it should be. I can't find any way of editing this road by moving this point to the correct position. There doesn't seem to be any undo, move or delete function that I can find.Also in a similar vein, I misunderstood the road definitions and made the road a dual carriageway, instead of one lane in each direction.Can one select the road and edit its parameters?I hope I…

    Hi all,I've been playing around with the various effect parameters documented in the SDK. I couldn't make the DUSK, etc. parameters work. When used, the effect would simply not show. I only managed to use HOD and the like and also found that you could not specify a range overlapping midnight. I did try to change the order of parameters, specify more or less of them, etc.Did anyone managed to use and/or combine these different parameters ?Cheers,Arnaud

    Hello Everyone!I have a request for the scenery design guru's out there. The idea is to reconstruct an airport so it's better designed for hub operations. The Target: KICT (Wichita, KS)Objectives: remove existing terminal and replace with one from a major airport like KBOS or KMIA. Put in new cargo facility. There is a cargo building located in Seattle that is suitable. Copies of this bldg can be placed side by side to create the appearance of a longer cargo facility.     I've used AFW to flatten an airfield in FS9 (runways etc AFCAD). I've trees growing up through runway, taxiways etc. In the past I've used excludes to get rid of these but when I try to do this within the flattened area AFW will not let me create exclude areas with polygons. I cannot create polygons in the flattened area either.Can I create another AFW scenery at the same lat/long with the exclude areas I need? Or is there a better solution.Thanks.John B

    I just started making my first scenery ever. It's a seaplane base, and I've only placed the runway yet. But when I tried starting FS9 at my airport, it chrashed. I tried starting at a nearby airport, but when I got close, FS crashed. Do I have to do something special in order to be able to make a runway in the water? I just placed it out in water, and set the surface to "Water", and added "W" after the runway designators. Anyone who know what the problem is?

    I haven't created any bgl files since I installed the patch. I notice that the source xml files have the line:version="9.0"If I want to modify and recomplile does this have to be changed to "9.1"?

    Hello all,I am working on a couple of textures, which are images of building roofs, mostly concrete. I work on them in PhotoShop, and then use ImageTool to convert them to appropriate format. The are all grayscale, and there is no color info. However, when I change format in Imagetool, it does something to them and introduces these blobs with blue and green hues - it drives me crazy!!! Does anyone else encounter this and/or does anyone have a fix for it? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Howdy Everyone,I'm perfectly happy modifying default scenery with Ground2K4 and am reluctant to try and learn a new program. However, a couple of areas, one of which I'm working on at present, have reservoirs created by concrete arch dams. It just doesn't look right without the dam.I'd be most appreciative of suggestions for the program(s) easiest to learn that would produce an acceptable concrete arch dam, powerhouse, etc.There are a lot of earthfill dams in Montana and Wyoming too. Might one program be useful for making both dam types?I'm 76 so be gentle!Wil Husted

    Hello Guys,My problem is the following:I have already created a 40m high dam at the end of a big lake. My problem now is that the water at the lake is 40m higher than the water of the small lake at the bottom of the dam. With mesh terrain it's impossible to change such steep altitudes in such a small area.Now my idea: Is it possible to implement the reflecting FS2004-water into a Gmax-Macro or whatever? Or is the reflecting water so strictly hard coded in FS2004 only allowing it to be used with LWM polygons?I could also do the area around the dam without reflecting water, but then the difference to the reflecting water would look really strange. :(Sasa

    HI,I have made a "private airport" using AFCAD2 by Lee Swordy and most of the objects are where I want them. I've named the airport after my dog:-roll (I know, it's corny). What I want to do is take a jpeg photo of the pooch and place it in my airport. I'm not photo savy so not sure how to convert jpeg to bgl or bmp(Not sure which fs9 could read) or even if it can be done.     Apologies if this topic has been done to death but I have a strange problem.When I ported my FS2002 scenery into FS9 I wrote an exclude to remove the default airfield. This was a standard SCASM GenExcl file - and it works just fine.The problem is that I can't recall how I did it and I lost the source file some time ago in a HD crash. I've tried decompiling the file with BGLAnalyse and it shows ordinary code - Header( 1 N54:06:00.00 N54:04:00.00 W004:35:00.00 W004:39:00.00 )LatRange( N54:04:00.00 N54:06:00.00 ); since SCASM does not support multiple latitude ranges; the range has been set to the minimum/maximum latitude.; LatRange information in the BGL file is given as…

  21. So my first post on AVSIM although a regular on flightsim.com.I am learning the trade of scenery design. And trying to get a project going using Ground2k4. When I get to trying to draw lines I left click as required I get this error "using outdated TABCTL32.OCX" or along those lines.What the heck is that? I installed the setup program as required. I even have the most recent copy of the .exe file recently released.I can't make any headway until I find out that the issue is and correct it.     I just cleared all the wayward signs at an airport I'm accuratizing (<- new word). Now I'm at the point where I want to generate the new signs in their correct positions. I'd read somewhere there people are using the next size larger than what MS used originally (Size=2?). I've set the size to 3 then 1 then 5 and saw no difference with each sample placed next to an original. Is there something I'm missing or us there a deficiency with create-a-sign or bgl's?

    Hi all.Can some tell me whether LWMDraw5 works correctly with FS2K2?I'm trying to better define the boundry of an airfield. I've accurately followed all the steps in the LWMDraw Tutorial, but the alterations do not resolve in the FS environment.The only quirk that I can identify in the process is with creating the BGL from the VTP source file. When this is droped onto the BGLC.exe, no BGL file is created. The other source file works fine and creates a BGL that is then placed into an active scenery folder, but this does not work with the VTP source file. Any clues?Cheers,Matthew.

    One of the mysteries I'd like to solve is this: where does FS store the "terrain map texture" that is displayed in the default GPS?It is simple enough to "fetch" the "terrain map texture" via XML code in a gauge, but thus far a method of doing the same thing in a C gauge had eluded me...The SDK's are - typically enough for MS - completely useless since there are C gauge events defined to "fetch" the files, but zero explanation on how to display them, once fetched...Does anyone know where the "terrain map textures" are stored? That might provide the needed clue that will enable C gauge programmers to access them... ;)
