I need somebody to help me make Gmax-lights work in FS9 with the latest MakeMDL.Ive searched through the forums, read the SDK but nothing seem to help me creating the lights.Ive tried to place effects on the gmax-objects via XML and attachobject. The lights show up, but not when when i am more than some 100 meters from the light.Is editing of ASM code the only way? I dont understand this code at all. And how do I compile the ASM into BGL?Can anyone help me so I dont have to study lights for years to get them work?

Following up on my post on using models to create animated objects -I have created a very simply "wave pool" using FSDS. It is simply a series of shallow 3d triangles that are animated using the AnimatedTimed feature. However, as I have seen before, the progress of the waves is not smooth, but slightly jerky. I have even tried putting them out in the middle of the ocean to minimize the impact of nearby scenery.Any ideas as to how to make this work better? AnimatedTimed seems to work okay for rotating parts, such as radars. But perhaps that is just because changes in angular speed are not as obvious as changes in straight line speed.Phil

If I create an animated object using FSDS, such as a waving flag, is there a way to compile the object so that users can decide where they want to put it?For example, if I compile the object as an API, people can use a program like FSSC to place it. However, an API object cannot be animated (at least not as far as I know).If I compile the object as a BGL, the animation will be preserved, but people cannot change the location of the object.It looks like XML may provide a solution, but FSDS does not offer the option to compile the object into XML.Help?Phil

Hi. I've read the beginner's guide and am somewhat overwhelemed by information! I wonder if you could help me with a (hopefully) simple task.I have some buildings which I want to make landable by helicopter. They're not my scenery, however, so I don't have access to the source files.Is there any way that I can create (for example) an invisible platform and place it at the same height as the building so I can land on it? Or is there another way that I can make the objects landable?By the way, I'm using FS2002If anyone could possibly point me in the right direction, I'd be extremely gratefulMany thanksMike

Hi Folks,Firstly does anyone know of a freeware programs that can extract mipmaps and save them while working with a batch of files. I want to test a theory re some scenery I have but need to extract several hundred mipsmaps first and the only probgram I've found can't do batches.Lastly a query re approach lights. Is there a way of getting the default approach lights to show up in daylight regardless of the current vis and time of day?Thanks Ron

Hi, I am trying to follow the forum but it seems nobody have posted this question. I was wondering to create some villages around my airports using autogen and reading the Autogen SDK I saw that I can use some of allready annotated bitmaps to have autogen files. I am curious about the filename of AGN and STN file. There are a lot of numbers and I would like to know, what do they mean. I would like to make these villages for Slovenia, which is around N45-N46 and E13.30-E15 (I guess). And yet another question. Is there allready a program available to make ordinarily bitmap (DXT1, 3 or Enhanced BMP) ready for drawing the buildings and vegetation on it?Thanks in advance!Goran

Folks, i am having difficulty eliminating a flickering problem. It results from having a gmax-created flat-surfaced object that is the same height as the terrain. Here's a summary.- I want to represent an ocean terminal with large docks adjacent to a large flat surface that is partly both parking lot and helipad.- The surrounding terrain elevation is zero- I want the dock surfaces to appear to be 2.5m above the water- I want the dock surface and adjacent areas to be the same height, and smoothly blend in elevation down to 0m where it adjoins land, and be abrupt where it adjoins water- I want a hard surface so that folks slewing around won't go below the level of the obj…

To All,I am using the latest version of Christian Fumey's Ground 2k4 utility and have noticed that .bgl files created with it will crash after dawn hours. I have temporarily had to re-do those .lvm created using the previous version (since save .lvm files with Ground 2k4 v 5.4 renders the file useless in the previous version.) Has anyone else experienced this problem and knows of a fix? Thanks.Regards,David

HiI just updated my G2K4 to version 5.40 from 5.1 which was working great.Problem is when I go to compile the project, I get all my bgls for everything Ive done except the _9.bgl.When I revert back to my previous version, I an getting a (530) error upon trying to open the project Im workin on.Funny thing is I can open all other projects, just not my recent one.Im baffeled here. Although I have shorelines and roads created in my project, It wont create the bgl for them.I have a friend who is having the exact same problem.Any help on this would be very much appreciated.Thanks Al

Hi guys,After almost 10 days of unsuccessful tries to light a default ground polygon in FS2004 using the Light_Land command, I gave up and decided to move on and attemp to light the ground using effect files! :-)But I have another problem using this approach :-(I know how to place an existing fx file into FS2004 but guess what....I don't know how to create a new one :-)So I would ask any of you effect gurus if possible to provide a guide (or even provide the code if it is more convinient) as to how I can create a simple effect that will emit a circular beam of light on the ground straight from above at a given radius in a given RGB colour value, and fade out as we move aw…

I have done a search for excluding autogened files in areas that are rebuilt using AFCAD. bgltools was designed for FS98 and I am not sure whether it still works for FS2004. Is there a newer tool that can do this ? This should be simple by now. Hello Everyone,Suddenly I'm having problems with "islands" of snow being where they're not supposed to be in summer. I've been modifying the scenery in the Absaroka Range of northwest Wyoming using Ground2K4 and have made quite a few landclass changes to lower the tree limit to a realistic elevation and added snowbanks using the coral texture when they appear on the maps. For a while now when flying about the area to check on my scenery, patches or islands of snow have been showing up where there was none before. It's more of a dusting or moderate snowfall than the hard-edged snowbanks that I've drawn. I have the FS9 season set to Summer/August 15. There's a lot more of t…

Hi all.I was wondering whether some kind sole would be good enough to show me what I'm doing wrong in Ground2K. Basically, the polys are not going where they should.I've attached a top-down image of the location I'm working on, as viewed in the Ground2K working environment. As you can see, it's a mess. The blue triange is an experimental body of water. The green rough triangle is its final location as it resolves in the FS environment.It's also apprarent that the grid-gen and cell-grid lines don't match up, despite setting them to the same location (710,334). Also, the cell-grid cells don't aline with the white-dashed LOD lines in ground2K. Got me stuffed what I'm doing w…

I don't know if this is a known issue, but I installed an airport addon (mke2004.zip) consisting of 4 scasm excludes (genexclude) and a main scasm scenery file, and an AFCAD2 file.I had a problem with ILS LOC not being displayed in my A/C, so I went to work.There are 4 ILS systems at KMKE, 2 on 110.3 and 2 on 111.5. One of each was not being received, though they were showing up on the gps.So I removed the new AFCAD to use the default: same problem.I dug deeper. One thing I discovered, is that if the excludes are loaded, it kills the AFCAD visual scenery, regardless of scenery.cfg level. I apologize for this question in advance, I know this information must be right under my nose, but I just can't seem to find it.For my New England and Florida projects, I'm using Slarti to generate rivers and lakes/bays/oceans separately, meaning they're in separate bgls. I make the rivers without shores, and the lakes/bays/oceans with. My rivers should extend into the lakes/bays/oceans with the hypothesis that the river polys should cover the lwm beach from the lake/bay/ocean that it flows into. At first, this worked perfectly. I have managed under the guidance of Luis to successfully produce some islands in deep water (mid-ocean). However I have run into a problem with Ground2k4 and cannot find any reference to it on the forum.When I select new to bring up the dialogue for entering data and I select 'poly with shoreline', on clicking the 'Lines' tab the choices in the selection box are 'greyed out' and there is no image in the viewing box. I think this image is shoresu.bmp and it normally resides in the FS9sceneryworldscenerytexture folder.It seems as if Ground2k4 is not finding this file and no matter what I've tried I cannot get the image and the selections to load.I have had a look at …

I accidently screwed up my Scenery.cfg (default one that came with mfs04). Is there a place I could download it or could someone send it to me? I have alot of custom settings in MFS and I really want to avoid reinstalling..THanks!
