    Hi! (Sorry for my english.)I want to light a tower at night.I made a tall cylinder object (tower), and place near a spotlight (light). The tower has 2 texture, one for day, one for night.The night texture is pure black, because the tower not emit light.A) What I must set for spotlight, if I want to see this effects in FS?(See attachment, red circle.)- OR -:( This effects made only in texture.Thanks!abelino

    Did some programming last night that got deeper into examining the structure of an autogen .agn file created by the Annotator program and found some strange results applying the format that had been printed here previously. Everything works out really well in regards to the house floor densities, the bytes holding the number of houses, vegetation types, etc. The strange stuff comes when one looks at individual house data. To do this test I created an extremely simple .agn file using annotator that had but one house defined and one vegetation area.     Hello All. This is my first visit to this forum. Looks like a very cool place to be. To my quest. I have been designing scenery for FS since 2002. I found that FSDS2 is easier for me than Gmax (I'm all thumbs with gmax). I've started using Rwy12 and I think it's great. As objects can be created for Rwy12 using gmax, I am wondering if a similar way of doing the same using FSDS2. If anyone knows of a method of converting FSDS2's fsc files to xml files, I would greatly appreciate help along those lines. Thanks.

    Aargh! Is there an utility that would reverse-convert from *.asm to anything that would be readable by GMAX or 3DS MAX?As I was working on a project, GMAX crashed and wasn't even able to emergency-save the the file (hence they ask wether I want GMAX to "attempt" to save the file LOL)The only record of my project that I can use is in the *.asm file that was created as an intermediate file ( I'm tinkering with some reflectivity settings, and I have a switch for intermediate files set in a MakeMDL cfg file)The question is: Can I somehow reverse-convert from *.asm to GMAX?     I am looking at is ktus_158462.zip by Grainger, needs rnwy12 and jetways to work....you also have a ktus.zip by Jeffreys, question: how does one decide which to use, or can you put both on??.........also some of the scenery downloads need a Nova, Nova gold, Lago something, and some trees, etc. I am not real familiar with these , so that is why I was asking if there is a forum on proper ways to download add-on scenery............PS, I did install one for Osgosh, Wisc, but that was only one file to add to scenery so that was easy and seems to be working........I am told that some of the add-ons really hurt the fps so to beware.........again, any rules of thumb on …

    I need to find out how I can decompile non FS9 BGL files to XML.Several years ago, I created a VERY large scenery project for FS2002 which was distributed through AVSIM and other sites to several thousand members of the Flight Sim community. It was called by the name of the scenery area, "Stone Mountain", and included an airport, large mountain (largest exposed granite dome in the world), and surrounding park which attracts 100,000+ visitors each year.     hi there, :-waveit's been a while, (2 year absence) but i'm back into creating quite a large scenery area for FS2004! it's good to be back on avsim.com! first off.. if you've got half of your area as water and you've used an alpha mask, that area still counts as texture and takes up space right? so ideally it'd be better to use the smallest (LOD13) around these coastal/river areas? anyone working on a large scenery project? what size areas do you normally work with (LOD)? any other helpful formatting guidlines?it's late right now but i'm sure i'll churn out more questions tomorrow!kind regards,-mitch

    Okay, my conscience is bothering me here and I need some feedback from other scenery designers about this issue. As I've indicated in other posts, I've embarked on a huge photoreal scenery project for the Phoenix valley. Other than a few little holes I've covered all the ground and could easily release what I have to share with all the others that have donated their efforts on these flightsim websites.     Somehow while I've been working on a photoscenery project, when I had had everything lined up with WGS84 data, suddenly it has jolted in the sim and is now off in the sim...I went to a reference lat/lon to find the image has somehow shifted even though the values I used were correct and were tested and confirmed accurate in the sim...I'm left scratching my head... I have since gone back and double checked old versions I made which I know lined up and suddenly they're all off from where they once were too...I had all my phototiles pefectly aligned in the sim, and it was verified against terraserver images and lat/lons...     I am making a cylinder-esue object (a tower) and I wonder if there's a way to tell gmax to tile a texture five times around the object if I mark the whole thing for texturing. Or do I have to divide it into five slices and texture each one of them separately?And just a short one about textures and alpha channel; can I add alpha textures in the same file as the normal textures or should these be in a separate file. Would it handle gradients?Sorry, I am very new to gmax so go easy on me. :)

    Greetings,I'm very new at the scenery design thing, but I'm trying to apply photoreal textures to my local area. My problem right now is that the textures I end up with after resample.exe are just not high resolution enough to do the .25m resolution images from TerraServer justice. Is there any workaround I can perform to increase the resolution of the textures to something more like 1m/pix?Thanks in advance,James Bryant

    I am pulling my hair here. None of the development tools I download will work. First TerraBuilder which is throwing out targafiles, then SBuilder which wont work at all and now Ground2k4.I start a project and pick a map (24-bit Bitmap), but as soon as I am going to type in NW/SE-coordinates it crashes:Before the program terminates I get a message in French; roughly translated:"Erreur 480 Impossible to create an image in AutoRedraw mode"Ok; what am I doing wrong here?Please help before I am going mad.....
