OK, I posted the same question over at Arnos forum, but I thought I might post it here as well in case you didnt see it over there...I have redesigned some of our club scenery in GMAX. The problem comes with fuzzy textures. When I load up the new scenery, the textures appear clear for a few seconds, then go fuzzy, http://www.margaritaair.com/uploads/main//uploads/fuzzy1.jpghttp://www.margaritaair.com/uploads/main//uploads/fuzzy2.jpg Then clear up again after a few more seconds. I thought originally that it was a texture issue for the new scenery. All textures are stored in DXT1 format. Then I thought it was a landclass issue. So I removed the landclass bgl and the…

Hello, I'm trying to go beyond 4.8 m/pix photorealistic texture resolution. I use textures with 1m/pix resolution. I created in gmax 16 512x512m polygons which are covered with 512x512 textures. All 16 polygons are located 5 cm ( 0.05 m ) over the default terrain. Terrain is flattened and scenery exluded ( bgl's were created in FSSC )Everything is ok on ground and altidues around 2000 ft but with icreasing altitude photoreal textures are starting to blink and default terrain is showing up creating big mess. Blinking is very fast :-( When plane is not moving ( when on pause ) blinking stops but every slight movement brings mess up.I had tried various texture formats such …

I had to remove and replace me secondary drive, where I had Terrabuilder installled. I have posted at least three email messages in the last week, at the TerraBuilder Support page with no response. I guess if you don't purchase the Pro version you get no support.I realy need a list of files that TerraBuilder installs,( Uninstall.DAT), because, even though I ran the Uninstall, I get a message from the InstallShield Wizard "Do you want to compleatly remove the selected application and all of its components?" I want to get TerraBuilder Lite installed againWould Someone PLEASE help me!Richard L Hill

In the advent of the new FS2004SDK and the ability to create hard surfaces, would it be possible to create an elevator for aircraft? To be more specific, in my aircraft carrier that I'm modeling I would like to create an elevator that would lift an aircraft from the lower deck to the flight deck. I'm thinking that the animation would be triggered by a specific frequency set on the aircraft. Am I reaching here?Bill

I just bought the SCC, because I thought it would be better than FSSC, Ground2k4 or other Designer-tools. But I couldn't believe my eyes:I wasn't able to link it to the FS9 and as far as I can see it doesn't include the ability to make animated objects.Does anybody work with it for FS9-scenerydesign?

I know I once saw an article about this but can't find anything at this time. Scenery texture tiles have very long numerical names like 003020000102101su.bmp and I know those digits represent where in the world that tile exists. I need to know this because I'm adding a feature to my new program where a user can view the tiles on a mosaic and be able to see how they fit with one another. When one lays them out in alphabetical order, some fit together properly and others don't. Anyone have a key to the format? Art Martin

Despite some known issues, I purchased the Ultimate Terrain for Canada & Alaska. I must say that I'm quite blown away so far.My problem:Due to the UT coastlines being much more precise than the FS9 scenery, some container ships and cranes are now high and dry (see pic). I used ExcBuilder to exclude all objects within a square around them and the bgl compiled fine. I have the bgl in the Add-on Scenery folder which seems to be at a higher priority than all the other Stevens - Anchorage Intl. Airport scenery (PANC), but as you can see, nothing was excluded. Here is the exclude code generated by ExcBuilder:<?xml version="1.0"?>This compiled into a small bgl. Here…

Hello all, I've started to play with dynamic objects, with the possible objective of adding dynamic object creation to AutoAsm so that, for example, moving traffic could be added along VTP roads. Thanks to Edgar for his 'Dynamic Scenery Design Notes', which got me going. My current objective is to make a large number of instances of an object follow the same path. I used a modified file as a test which I include below. The objects all follow the same path, but with delays to separate them. If I add two Cessnas then it works fine. But if I try to add a third Cessna it fails. One Cessna follows the path correctly while the second (or the second and third!) stays at the st…

Well, I should know better than to use my development machine as my testing machine but definitely had some program problems masked. My new Autogen Creation/Editing program is posted in the library now but got immediate feedback on install problems. First of all, I'm using Martin Wright's excellent MWGFX dll's to decode DXT bitmap files and included the dll that ties into VB but forgot to manually include the MWGFX.DLL. If you download his dll package that problem should be solved until I upload the next release. A few other VB dll's are showing up as out of date but I don't believe they'll be show-stoppers. Simply keep your newer ones during the install. The last b…

The above tutorial warns that SCASM-compiled bgls can be unreliable in FS9.I have been getting a few CTDs flying in the vicinity of objects created with SCASM (roads, bridges, dams, etc). Not always and never before adding the SCASM scenery. I may well have messed something up, but now am wondering if there is a serious issue here. So, two questions.1) I'm sure the authors put that caution in the tutorial for a good reason. What sort of problems have users typically been finding with SCASM objects?2) Would it help to take a SCASM-compiled bgl, decompile it with BGLAnalyze or LWMViewer, and then recompile using BGLC? This "laundering" seems to work and changes the c…

I'm creating some LWM polys to replace some default lakes. I'm using Ground2k4 to create the polys. I'd like to use a texture other then the default that is displayed. So I created a waterclass map over the LOD 5 area, using 254 over most of the area and 2 over the lake. I've also copied the 002b2wa1.bmp to the associated texture folder from the worldtexture folder. But when I see the lake in flight simulator, the 002 texture is not displayed. I can see FS load the texture (it show momentarily) but then it is overlaid with the default water texture. Is this a layering issue? What am I doing wrong. Here is a picture from the TmfViewer. As you can see, the cursor was …

Is it possible for special scenery objects to act as a trigger to play a sound in FS9?If so, could a plug-in be created to play the sounds of AI aircraft landing and taking off? These 'objects' could be rendered invisible and placed anywhere on the runway or, perhaps, at a certain AI spotting location. I believe MS Train Simulator uses this method to play various sounds - eg - birds, cars, running water etc. Perhaps certain 'flags' in the aircraft.cfg file could trigger certain engine sounds - eg, piston, turbine, jet. I am an absolute AI fanatic - so this idea appeals to me - alas - I don't have the skills to create it myself. I know about FSHotSeat - but I like the idea…

GreetingsI have been writing an application that places FS9 default objects in my scenery much the same way that Rwy12 places their objects. I currently use FSConnect.dll to get location information from FS9. Just skew the aircraft where you want to place one of the FS9 default objects (I currently have about 200 of the guids in my program) and the app writes xml code and then compiles the bgl file using bglcomp. This is not intended to replace or compete with the excellent Rwy12 application, which I currently use and enjoy. I simply wrote this to take advantage of the many default objects already included as part of FS9. Right now the app makes new files and adds obje…

Ok, so..I am building an object with a buddy of mine...more so, he built it, I created textures. In anycase, he sent me the object file in .3ds format and I imported it into GMax. I then exported it with the MDL scenery format exporter, and firt got the error stating that my object was not in meters, but that the exporter would convert it. I then dragged the exported XML over BGLcomp, and looked at the object in sim...what I came up with was a MASSIVE object about 100x bigger than what is really supposed to be there. Any ideas?Problem #2:If I view the object in a program such a Deep Explorer (a program to view objects in), I can see the textures on the object. However, wh…

Ok, got my first lesson in international programming trying to distribute my autogen editing program. Seems many users were getting invalid property value errors when running my program. Turns out the problem stemmed from the fact that outside of the United States, it seems the world uses commas instead of periods in denoting a decimal value. I'm using masked edit boxes (cause I was too in a hurry and lazy to create custom controls) for entering the min and max values for vegetation heights and part of the mask includes the period for the decimal delimiter. Turns out if a user changes their global machine setting to use the dot instead of the comma, suddenly my progra…

Hello all, I would like a list of all the "ordinary" autogen object library GUID numbers. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm aware of default.xml and the list in the BGLC SDK, but these are not for the standard autogen objects (default.xml has lots of things such as restaurants with giant chickens, but not the standard autogen buildings etc). The reason is this: AutoAsm can add enormous numbers of buildings, trees etc linked to VTP lines, so large numbers of buildings can be used to create towns and villages etc. The most convenient method for adding many simple buildings is to use the old FS2000-style buildings. However, when the building density goes abo…

Hi all,I have designed a new small utility to help those designers that compiler their source files (XML/ASM) by the drag-and-drop method. With this tool you will be able to see the output of the compiler, instead of just having a black window flashing shortly. For more information and to download:http://www.scenerydesign.org/forum/showthread.php?t=986

  24. Anyone know what the BGL names and locations were for the old FS2000 or FS98 BGL's?I'm hoping to experiment with some of these old BGL files to see if I can call some FS2004 GUID's and regain some of the old animated boats and airport ground vehicles. Also does anyone know of the old GUID codes for the FS98 or FS2000 dynamic sceneryd default objects? I'm wondering if they are using the same GUID codes as in FS2004.Also I'm curious as to whether or not any default aircraft in FS2004 have GUID codes.Any help would be both fun and appreciated... ;)
