I just posted the following in the scenery forum. However, it should be of interest here as well. Actually, I suspect the chances are higher this works on aircraft rather than scenery. The possibilities would be enourmous: reflective + refractive windscreens, bumpmapped panels, etc, etc. Enough to at least give it a shot.original message:When browsing around I found some DX shaders defining the water. (I know someone else from NZ found this before me, but I never chased it up until now, too busy).Something like this (WaterHLSL.fx)://// water shader//// texture 0 - base texture// texture 1 - envmap//// result = Base + Env.a * Env// = T0 + T1.a * T1//#include "Common.f…

I downloaded Lonny Paine's 757. (By the way, his panels are the best out there! go to http://www.fs2002panels.netfirms.com/ for them) Anyway, when I try to use his gauges (for my own use) on another panel, they create an error & flightsim has to restart. Is there a way to fix that?

Hello,I want to attempt to make a working master switch for the VC. I think I can make it with FSDS2 and animate it, but I also want to make it selectable with the mouse. I don't have a clue as to whether some specialized skills or knowledge are needed to do this. Could someone please point me in the right direction? Thanks,John Woodward

Hey all,Reeeeally long time since I was last here. Things have been exploding at FFS, and our Vans RV-7 should be out by the end of the month. We are currently in Beta 1.02 and Beta 1.03 will be out in two days.Guys, I am stuck with a problem. Wanna speed up the head movement in the VC, and read through the SDK and searched this forum for a while, without any results. Perhaps I used wrong key words.Any of you out there knows how to do this?P.S. If anyone would like screenshots or more details of the RV-7, there will be a press release hitting Avsim in the coming days, but you can also e-mail me at [email protected] or contact me through messenger a…

Hi Guys. I've been hacking at this code all day. From reading lots of prior posts, I came up with the following code. It is meant to display a wafer switch with 3 options (GPS,Nav1,Nav2). When you click on either of the three click regions, it changes the bitmap to represent which of the three regions you clicked on. Simultaneously, it will write either 0,1,2 to the Linked Variable L:NavMode, which I will use later in other gauges.Right now when I click on the bitmap regions, nothing happens in changing the bitmap, and I suspect in updating the variable. Any ideas? I've read the forum a great deal without any answers. Thanks. Cylon(>L:NavMode, enum)0 (%gt, L:N…

I know Christmas is over, but here's a wishlist of aircraft that I would like to see made for FS2004 in the future. A lot of these planes and helicopters are pretty popular and/or well-known, and I'm surprised that some of them havn't been made yet. Other people can add their wishes to this post as well. And if anyone knows if any of these aircraft are available for FS2004 (made in Gmax or FSDS2), please let me know where to find them!Boeing 314 Clipper Eurocopter AS-350 F-22 RaptorAH-64 ApacheBoeing 720 (or is this the same thing as a 707?)F117 Stealth FighterLockheed U-2 B-52 SratofortressA-10 ThunderboltC-17 Globemaster IIISpace ShuttleSpruce GooseThat's all I can thin…

I am interested in panel and gauge creation -- and I reckon I have the "intellectual"!! abilities for this line of FS -- BUT the thing that stops me in my tracks is the creation of the actual artwork -- ie the bitmaps. I even have ( intellectually) what it takes to use and understand graphics programmes ! :) -- BUT I AM NO ARTIST!!!!! I couldn't draw or paint anything to save my life. I have modified other peoples panels and gauges -- and have even modified their artwork a little, but that soon goes astray if I try to modify it too much! :(So what do all you panel/designers out there do? Work as a team?Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks Barry

break from all the hard work. :) I'm starting a charity fund. All revenues will proceed to my bank account to accomodate my vacation to Cuba this summer. If you are willing to spend a buck... :(Anyhow, to the point. What's with all these "I want this or that topics"?

Is it possible to write a XML gauge that will turn on a sound file located in my main sound folder, when the spoilers are raised? I'd like to hear spoiler sound when the spoilers are raised and in flight. however, once on the ground, if the spoilers are raised I don't want to hear the sound...I've look at the XML tips and searched else where with no luck.... If anyone knows of a gauge like this in a freeware panel, can you point me to the file..Thanks RJ

Hello everybody. Does anybody knows how resize the GPS window in the panel CFG? Like all GPS users, I'm disappointed each time I open it by this too big windows size. Instead of resizing it while flying, I'd like to do it one time for all. Any help?:)

Im trying to add an autopilot to an aircraft that doesnt have one, and I am running into a few problems. I've managed to add it to the window with the GPS, and it does work, but the problem I'm having is with the placement of the GPS and the autopilot in the window. I want to have the autopilot on top of the GPS in the window. The way I have it now, they both are in the same position. Could someone suggest how I can do this? Below is a sample of the config file I have so far:{window10}size_mm=250,500position=2BACKGROUND_COLOR=16,16,16VISIBLE=0ident=10015guage00=fs9!gps_500, 0,0,150,250guage01=Lear_45!Autopilot, 0,0,250,150Any help would be greatly appreciated!

AllI thought I would try my hand at GMAX. To that end I bought a couple of books and have been experimenting (mostly playing) with it. Tonight, I thought I would step through the p-38 tutorial. All went well until I got the bitmaps loaded in the viewports. The Tutorial steps you through creating what it calls a calibration box. It shows in the tutorial picture a 3D box encompassing most of the aircraft. The protuberance on the rudders are the only thing extending outside the box. A perfect fit.W-e-e-e-l-l, despite re-setting and re-trying about fifteen times, and despite checking and double checking the length, width, height dimensions and despite double checking th…

Hi,Is it possible, in XML, to create a gauge that reads, oil pressure or oil temperature or both, then once a particular pressure or temperature is reached starts a counter and when this counter hits a certain number causes the planes engine/s to stop?.CheersDan.

Hi,(Was already in another thread but just as a "bump") Not specifically alpha, but to change the brightness of my MFD's i use this element as last one in the row:................. (A:Circuit general panel on, bool) (L:bright,enum) 0 == (L:bright,enum) 1 == (L:bright,enum) 2 == (L:bright,enum) 3 == (L:bright,enum) 4 == (L:bright,enum) 5 == (L:bright,enum) 6 == (L:bright,enum) 7 == (L:bright,enum) 8 == (L:bright,enum) 9 == (L:bright,enum) 10 ==..............and on the pedestal a rotary knob:............. (L:bright,enum) 4 /................MFD's Less Bright (L:bright,enum) 1 - 0 max (>L:bright,enum)MFD's More Bright (L:bright,enum) 1 + 11 min (>L:bright,enum).........…

Hi Guys,Quick question... does anyone know of a way to increse the view radius in the main panel view? What i'd like to do is increse the view on a panel to between 120 and 180 degrees. Effectively creating a panoramic view of the surrounding landscape...Is it possible without using a tool such as WideView?

Hi all,Has anybody else noticed that the fs2004 stock P-38 airspeed indicator (p38f_lightning!Airspeed-Indicator) reads too fast? I noticed this after downloading the P-38F/H/G from the PROJECT XP-38N web site (http://www.kazoku.org/xp-38n/).It's really a nice job, but I noticed that it doesn't take off at 100 MPH as indicated in the documentation, but more like 120. Then I placed the mouse cursor over the indicator and saw that the rollover digital airspeed readout is consistently 20 or so MPH slower than what the needle is indicating. I suspect the digital rollover is the correct value as the ship does jump off the runway right at 100, as indicated by the rollover.pr…

Hi all,OK, I have the Borland C compiler 5.5v downloaded and working OK. I have downloaded Arne's packages that he and Dragonfly had assembled some time ago. I have looked at various makefiles they and Jean Luc have put together and shared on this forum in the past. No matter what I have tried over a period of a few months....I cannot get a single gauge to compile from the examples that Arne B had shared with us. I have no problem creating simply c code and compiling it, linking it etc.. So my paths and lib/dirs etc. are set up correctly. Also I am carefull as to where I have placed and reference the gauge dirs files and the h files etc.. Again I do not get compilati…

Can anyone point me towards a nice backlit compass for the panel I'm working on? I would really spruce up my night lit panel. Not looking for a backup compass, the main one way up high. I dunno, maybe they're the same. Thanks!!!Adam

I managed to replace the COM2 radio in the FS2004 Maule with a NAVCOM2 radio -- in both 2d panels and the VC panel.I also managed to place a VOR2 gauge into the 2D panels -- but cannot place this gauge ( from the Cessna 182s) into the spare space on the VC panel. I think I might have read somewhere that this can't be done.Any ideas? Thanks Barry

Hi all;I had a downloaded file of an old Icelandair 727 that was for Capt Sim 727 Pro, it was TCE compliant, and now I cannot find it anywhere. Can someone possible point me in the right direction? I looked through the AVSIM library, and I cannot seem to find it.Thanks in advanceMarvin

Hi all,Firstly, if you are just starting out. And simply cannot get the set of SDK gauges for FS2K2 to compile. Read the stuff in a thread I started a few days ago CALLED:"Can someone help me with a Borland compilation problem."Read Arne and JeanLuc's answers and JeanLuc's solution carefully. It worked for me!OK. Some observations, now that I can succesfully compile the SDKpackage.********What I want to share here comes in two parts. *********First. I had been wondering if one can compile just one Gauge out fo the SDK package. By package I refere to all the dirs/files that are created from unziping the SDK Tool Kit download for the Aircraft_Panel SDK.OK the two quest…

I would appreciate some guidance on the steps I need to take to rework my FS2002 flight model for FS2004 users. Are there any parameters that definitely require alteration or is it a matter of tweaking the existing values by trial and error?Thanks,boneshttp://fsaviation.net

I went through several aircraft.cfg's and noticed that the slat positions are usually 0.5 and 1.0, while in real life those may be 15 and 30. For flaps, on the other hand, the position correspond to actual angles. Why the difference ?

Hey guys,I'm trying to develop a multi-function display as part of an aircraft project, but I'm having issues finding the best way to implement a menu-driven system. If MS would just release an XML SDK life would be alot easier:)What I'm trying to do and have one gauge with a number of buttons along all sides which corespond different pages. So what I need is a good system for case logic to keep things tidy, and to store the current page in a variable, along with some logic to decide which "function" of the gauge to branch to based on the options available for the current page. Those of you who have seen a military MFD/DDI will know I'm trying to do. Sounds simple, but I'm…
