DX8.1b install, no problems to report and no performance hit! :) as Performance isnt necassarily what DX8.1b is about anyway. As many of you know there has been a long standing Z-buffer problem That at last report was noticed by users of every make of video card in different but not all locations.I know I saw this problem in small increments around Chicago and its airports as well as many other locations.Well, I just did a quick 20 minute flight all around chicago, made all kinds of touch and goes both in a Cessna and a 737 and I am thrilled to report that I could not find one flashing texture! Runways? All stable in all display modes and in all views under hard and soft l…

Sorry if this is somewhat off topic, but I have come across an interesting set of alternative drivers for NVidia based video cards. They are available at http://www.omegacorner.com/ and are seemingly based on the 29.42 version of the NVidia drivers. I have tried them with FS2002 pro and my new GeForce4 card and they seem to work well (at least for me). See the Omega Drivers page at my site for more.

Thanks Bill for your Atlanta Int. scenery. This is the type of stuff that makes our hobby so interesting. It's frame-friendly and really adds a lot of realism to this airport. Now I will go and download the AI flights out of Hartsfield and continue to build on that realism. I love flying, but have no interest in developing scenery, and so it's important for me to recognize on occasion those who take the time to add to our pleasure.Hope you all had a wonderful 4th.Spruce.

Folks,Version 2 of the small keyboard mapping application is now available in the file archives. As with the original application, this app will let you assign a single keystroke to be mapped to a keystroke sent to any application - useful for using hacked keyboards with home built cockpits, or in cases where you have multiple apps running on a single PC, but dont want to have to alt-tab between them before pressing some keys to make them respond.Version 2 allows key-sequences to be assigned to a single key press - so for example, the key sequence "ABC" that must be sent to App1 can now be triggered by pressing (say) just the "a" key.In addition, these key sequences can b…

I found this website today...https://www.americanflyers.net/ap/default.aspIt offers you to download in PDF format approach plates, departure markers, airport diagrams, and much more....for all major airports in USA, for FREE!! They are one to two years old, so I wouldn't go using them for anything real life. But for sim use, or for airport designers, etc., they are perfect.Enjoy.....- josh[br][br][div align=center]http://members.cox.net/joshieca/fstimeslink.gif][br

Being a "Classic" and radial fan, I am always searching the web sites for aircraft from the fifties and before. If you like this kind of aircraft, you REALLY have to check out the Swordfish Package available over at: http://www.simviation.com/fs2002vintage1.htmThis is the description:FS2002 aircraft featuring float and wheel version, VFR and Vintage panel, full moving parts, rolling wheels, dynamic virtual cockpit, high detail 1024x1024 textures in four historicall accurate paint schemes showing different levels of weathering, folding wings, tailhook, landing light, nav light. 11. Several months ago I remember reading something, somewhere, that FS2002 was optimized for INTEL CPU's. Has anyone heard anything more about this, or was this just a rumor?- Josh[br][br][div align=center]http://members.cox.net/joshieca/fstimeslink.gif][br

Hi folks.Anybody know if there is a feature within FSMeteo to allow gradual transitions in visibility and wind direction?I frequently find that as a new weather entry gets downloaded, visibility will drop precipitously or suddenly widen out to unlimited (or nearly). Similarly, with an update, I will suddenly have wind coming from an entirely different direction.I have used the cloud change and pressure change smoothing options, but haven't seen any similar things for visibility and winds. Is this something that FSMeteo just doesn't do, or is it something that Flight Simulator won't LET it do?Curious.Thanks.--TonyP.S. - This should not be taken as a complaint! FSMeteo i…

3D spot views are now available in real aircraft with this FAA certified terrain based synthetic vision system: http://www.uasc.com/images/news/Vision-1_MFD_webster.jpgNow those of you who complain that spot views are not realistic are standing on softer ground. ;)See their press release here: http://www.uasc.com/marketing/newsdetail.asp?newsid=45

Maybe someone can help:When flying everything runs (perfectly) smooth, but as soon as I change airport or the scenery/AFD reloads for any reason, FS2KS locks-up every 2nd/3rd time. And only when changing scenery (any).Only lead I have is this windos-error message I get once in a while:"System out of memory".Weird, as all page files (2, one on each disk) are not fully utilised and I have 512K RAM.No other prog's running that could interfere.Hardware set-up:- PC is P4 1.8ghz. Windows XP Pro- Dual monitors- Card is a GF4 ti4600 using the 29.42 drivers.- I did no tweaking (yet).- Card has enough power, not overclocked.- No overheating of card or PC.- Clean install of the 29.4…

One of the habits that us virtual pilots have when finishing a Flight is taking a look at our approach, Landing or Takeoff, to do this we simple use the Instant Replay feature of Flight Simulator. or Play a recorded flight. What if the key phases or flight are stored into a file that can later be viewed off the Flight Simulator in a stand alone Flight Simulator player? this will enable sites to publish flight videos (of course that having Flight Simulator Installed is required) but a short crippled version without the need for all the features will be loaded to play the videos.Does this sound good?

Hi all,I've received several requests to make fixes for the flashing/shimmering/bleed-thru (we got to find a good name for the bug!) on the aprons of some airports. I've just uploaded Aprnfix2.zip which will replace all the other apron fix files uploaded. It was starting to get confusing with too many names. I put everything into the new file. Have at it!

So here's the story. This morning, all is well. I fly from KPDX to KSEA, no problems. At KSEA, I log my time, shut down FS, and install FSNav 4.51 to test drive. I restart FS and use FSNav to plot a course from KPDX to PHNL and choose to have FSNav handle the autopilot for me... or so I thought. After between 1 to 5 minutes, my gauges disappear. The panel is still there, but the displays of all electronic gauges are gone. If I restart FS, or change aircraft, the gauges display again, for a short time, then *POOF*! Only the mechanical altimeter, artificial horizon and airspeed indicator work. Does anybody have a clue? I sure don't. I have since removed FSNav but…
