Hi all;I have a CH control yoke and CH pro rudder pedals. I also have a MS Sidewinder stick. The problem is when I use the Sidewinder, it wants to use the built in rudder on the stick. It won't let you select to use the seperate rudder pedals. Does anybody know if there is a way to work around this? Right now I have to define a custom stick, and can only get six buttons. I'd like to use them all. Also; my hat switch on the Sidewinder and the CH yoke will only display four views in 2D mode. I should be able to use all eight. Again; is there a tweak for this?BTW, I am running Win XP Pro.Maybe we should have a forum for controller issues. ;) Thanks.

I just received my RealATC package I ordered on Sunday with the Three Real Flights. The package looks great! Lots of excellent documentation. I haven't had a chance to fly one of the flights yet but have one general complaint already (and this applies to all heavy jets). According to the documentation, the PIC (that's me) must enter all the comm and nav frequencies; listen to the tower/ATC; set the heading, altitude, and speed settings; set the flaps properly; raise/lower the gear; check the charts; and FLY the 737 through heavy weather to Vienna. Oh, I have to start this puppy up too! I have to do all of this if I want a chance for the best flight rating. Okay, wh…

So, here's the story. I've been away from flight simming for about 8 months. Before that, I was using Fly 2, and have just recently purchased MSFS2K2.Would like to get some decent addons, preferably freeware, for nav, weather, and offline flying. I Need to find my copy of Radar Contact 2, and do all the particulars of installing in MSFS2000, then upgrading. Are there any other decent freeware programs and aircraft out ther to get me started again? Any help would be greatly appreciated.BTW, if you were wondering, this spring and summer, I have been doing a lot of R/C helicopter flying. Winter is setting in soon, so am looking forward to get back into simming!!To be a newbi…

Hi,My primary hard drive just failed, and I'm about to order a new Maxtor ATA 133 40 gig. Now, I found a place that will throw in XP home version for just a few dollars more when you buy the drive from them. I'm a strong believer in Win98 SE as the best OS for Flight Sim 2002. Good idea?? Bad idea?? Thanks for your ideas.Bob I

Missed my direct (real) delta flight from Oakland Ca to Atlanta thismorning due to business, so wound up taking a United flight viaKORD to Atlanta in the afternoon. Just got home (literally.)During the KOAK-KORD hop, I was listening to Channel 9 on UALwhich allows you to hear the pilots talk to ATC in all its flavors(clearance, ground, approach, centers, etc.) During which time, this Learjet is on and is talking to Minneapolis center...andasks for clearance to DECEND to FL430. Thats pretty darn highfor a learjet is it not? Mebbe, I just dont sim with those thingsvery much. Seems like I did hear a couple of Citations on the KORD-KATL run ask Memphis Center for cl…

Would anybody share with me the voodoo science of swapping aircraft files? My reason for asking is to try and tame the landing faults of some very nice, yet crash prone, Gmax AI aircraft. Gmax models like the TU-154 crash all the time on landing and disappear. Some of Mike Stone's really nice aircraft like the A320, B727, B757 can't land at some runways that should accomodate them. The L-1011 is a beast as AI.So I'd like to at least attempt to tinker with their files to better their AI behavior by substituting default or PAI aircraft files. But I know nothing of how this voodoo science is attempted. Where do I start and with what??????????????????Would anyone please help m…

While taking off and landing in Meljets new 744 I noticed that the undercarrige does not leave the gound position until you are well above the runway, and when landing the undercarrige makes contact with the ground too early while you are still in mid air.Has anyone else noticed this problem and is there a way to fix it.Thanks

Hi,I see that ATC Simulator is on special Christmas offer for $24.95, including 120 Tracons(!). http://www.atcsimtech.com/Can anyone who owns this package, or has some experience of it, let me know if it is worth purchasing, please? Is it interesting and varied? Is it immersive? Is it authentic? I know that stand alone packages such as this cannot compare with live ATC on places such as VATSIM, but I thought it might be fun, as well as a way to learn ATC procedures and lingo? Many thanks,Frank

I can't recall the thread in which someone suggested this, but if you're running a high end box with an nVidia based adapter I can honestly say life is MUCH better with FSAA disabled. To whoever suggested this: thanks!Performancewise, the GF4 series appears to tolerate higher resolutions far better than it handles FSAA. Take the LOD BIAS down a touch -0.3 to -0.5 (use RivaTuner to do this) and throw in 16-Tap (Level 2) anisotropic filtering and you have a hot lookin' sim with almost no performance hit. 32-Tap (Level 3) looks stellar, but you'll eat about 10-20% in frame rate.I took my sim up to 1600x1200x32 where the need for antialiasing is almost nil without a drop i…

Hello all,I just downloaded Mel's 747 (NW & UA) and a panel I found here on AVSIM (7474pcj.zip), but I can't get the nav frequencies to change. Is there something in the aircraft config I need to edit, or do I need to try a different panel? If the latter is true any suggestions??Thanks in advance!!JC

Hi guys,I just bought A320 Professional and I'm using it with the Project Airbus model. I'd like to have your opinion on who's flight dynamics is more realistic: PSS or Project Airbus. I've heard that PA's FDEs are better but I'm not sure whether it works well with the panel. Can I refer to the PSS charts when I'm using PA's FDEs, or are they totally different? Thanks guys.Regards,

I hate the term "Real Pilot", what is a real pilot? The term pilot can mean many things, not necessarily one who commands an aircraft.According to the dictionary a pilot is:1.One who operates or is licensed to operate an aircraft in flight. 2.Nautical. One who, though not belonging to a ship's company, is licensed to conduct a ship into and out of port or through dangerous waters. The helmsman of a ship. 3. One who guides or directs a course of action for others. 4. The part of a tool, device, or machine that leads or guides the whole. 5. A pilot light, as in a stove. 6. A television program produced as a prototype of a series being considered for adoption by a networkEv…

Well after a weeks waiting my DVI - DVI monitor cable finally arrived. I'd been holding out using the monitor to get the full impact of a digital picture. The wait was worth it.Plugged into a Leadtek GS Ti4600 the picture is simply stunning. Never have I seen colours so vibrant. Blacks are jet black, whites are pure white. The image is razor sharp corner to corner. I thought the picture on my Sony 400PST was good but side by side it doesn't come close. And FS ? Well, I'm seeing none of the anomolies that other LCD users have reported. The reduction in resolution from 1600x1200 that I normally run FS on a CRT, to the native 1280x1024 of the Eizo, is more than made u…

Hi all, I'm having big problems with a lot of my a/c for FS2002, the textures on all my default a/c and the AI default a/c are flickering they are then getting covered up by funny rainbow coloured textures. When i zoom right in they disappear it seems as if they are masking the proper textures when i zoom out. If anyone could help me i can send you an email with a BMP image to show you because i can't post on the screenshot page for some reason. drop me your email address and i'll send the pic along. Many thanks,Simon

Ok everyone,Here's a philosophical question. I'm currently contemplating the purchase of Dreamfleet 737, PIC767, PSS 747, 777, and A320.My question is as follows: Does the ease-of-use of these add-ons offset the apparent complexity? As a reference, I used to use the (terrific) Mad Dog 2000 and the original freeware EE757/767 version 7 that 767PIC is based on.What I want in a panel is the following: the ability to set and fly (manual and auto) accurate Vspeeds and thrust settings and the ability to properly follow a flightplan. When using FS98, I found that the EE757/767V7 panel coupled with FSNavigator and Tom Corson's FMC gauge was perfect for my needs - the panel its…

I am having an awful problem..unable to control pitch on takeoff either handflying or AP; aircraft wants to do its own thing. VS is only set to +2000. Pitch is set before TO. However, pitch is so extreme right after takeoff that it stalls aircraft every time. Very frustrating. Anyone else having this problem? Appreciate any advice.Grant

Hi,I really need somebodies help... I just got 2 best buy gift certificates, and I'm planning on buying a GeForce 4. I have 60 bucks with the cards, and I'm willing to pay 40 more... what i'm finding is the GeForce4 (64mb) SDRAM is $99.99, which is perfect, but one of my friends told me a DDR is better(179.99). the difference is the AGP SDRAM has 31million polygons per second, and the AGP DDR has 116million... by just looking at the numbers i know the DDR is better... considering FS2002, has anyone tried both? or does anyone know the difference i will get from a DDR and SDRAM in FS2002(fps). i'm currently using a intel chipset... The things i'm looking for are better grap…
