I just have to say this which seems to be a first for me since FS2004. Usually when a new version of FS comes out I delete most of the old scenery and aircraft from the old version that I had. With FS2k2 there are just so many above average aircraft and features that unless FS2004 totally blows FS2k2 away, I'll hang onto as many aircraft and features as I can. Not to mention I most likely won't upgrade to FS2004 right away. MS is makeing a big mistake by not supporting FSDS2. GMAX is not and should not be the only game in town. What started my rambling today was I downloaded the RealAir SF.260... What a wonderful bird....

jerrycwo4I'd like to give a SPECIAL thanks to Page Cline for his time and effort in helping me fix one of my main problems with KSFO( San Francisco). Earlier I posted the problem without any assistance and then I posted it again and he personnaly took the time and effort to help. Thank, Page.I had a lot of 'missing ' texture at KSFO and just adding his "aprnfx8" did not fix my problem. The problem was fixed by copying the three below files in my MAIN FS2002 TEXTURE folder. That fixed the problem. The three files are INCLUDED with his "aprnfx8" here in the Avsim library.Below is how KSFO looked with WHITE concrete, then with the correction made and then lastly, the three f…

I have driven myself nuts the last few days. I got back into MS2k2 after a few weeks away from it, and what do I do? I change video drivers about ten times, I fiddle with the Nvidia Tweaker program. I change FS2k2 settings about 100 times and then I change them again for good measure.Somehow, with all of this, I actually got the darn thing running pretty good. I took a flight over LAX, and held a steady 20fps (my maximum) with about 25 heavies sitting on the tarmac. I landed at Sea-Tac and put the front gear right smack dab on the runway centerline (a definate first for me), with the fps holding at 20 all the way down.Right now, I feel like a new parent who's finally got …

I've been using the FSD Commander for a few weeks. All in all, I think it's a great plane.I noticed something tonight, though. I was flying with the virtual cockpit, and happened to swap out to the default Cessna 172SP. I immediately noticed how much smoother the instruments were. I jumped back to the Commander and the bank indicator and altitude indicator were very herky-jerky, to the point that it was difficult to fly by the numbers. I tried loading up the default baron - smooth instruments. Back to the commander - sluggish and jerky. In all cases, the frame rate stayed locked at my maxium of 20fps.The instruments in the virtual cockpit have been bugging me for a while …

I was just wondering if it was possible to get Canadian runway markings in FS2002...? You know... how they are dashed instead of solid... Thanks. BTW are all Canadian runways done like that??? I've just been to Vancouver and Kelowna.Sincerely,Phil Geddes

Hi, I recently upgraded to this card that has 64mb. I had some problems though trying to get it just right. A lot of objects such as buldings and aircrafts and so forth had ridges and zig zag lines on them, there was'nt good smooth texturing. I had all sliders maxed out, but I still had same problem. I then read here in the form that the antialiasing should be turned off. I did this and then I put my setting at 4x to play with it a little bit. I now have fabulous graphics and most of the ridges are gone. But there has come this other problem: When in the cockpit view, there is this purple fuzzy block that shows up. This does not happen when in the 2x mode or the other mod…

If you were a kid growing up in the 1970s, who didn't want their own Mattel Vertibird! I had one back in 1972 (along with an Amazing Dareplane Stunter) with the spacecraft, astronaut and life raft to boot. It's been long destroyed but ever since I've always wanted another one.Now I've got one!Peter Hirschberg has written a free Vertibird simulator for the Windows platform as an exercise in OpenGL. GET IT! As soon as I installed I felt I was back in 1972 - it even comes with a cheesy soundtrack (which you can turn off). As soon as I applied power, the memories came flooding back. And what's better about this Virtual Vertibird is that you can change views and fly it fro…

I've read tons of posts about this product. THough I'm not having lockups, I simply don't see anything moving. I must really be blockhead. I've installed it and ran the AI up to 100%. There doesn't seem to be anything else that i can do. Right now, I'd be happy to see ground support service SOMETHING. It doesn't even have to be my aircraft.COuld someone perhaps give me a hint as to what I'm doing wrong? I ran around Heathrow for about an hour. Saw TONS of planes arrive and depart. Not a single ground vehicle though.ANy suggestions would be appreciated.Mark

Hi guys,I'm definately NOT trying to "stir the pot" - I'm posting mainly because I don't want Avsim to trash my User ID for not posting often enough :-)!. I have the utmost respect for Bear and totally understand why he is narrowing future reviews to FS aircraft only - I'm just surprised it's taken him this long to finally run out of time and patience. I've written before that the Avsim library is getting out of control with the amount of stuff being uploaded per day - but the "quality NOT quantity" argument doesn't seem to make a difference to the Avsim staff these days. Anyway, I'm getting off the point... according to the front page, Bear has stated that he is no longe…
