Can someone please tell me what the heck is TCAS and what do you use it for??? How do you use the TCAS in Ariane's new panel??? I bought this panel and besides the fact that it's a good looking panel (once you replace the side views that is) I see no difference and/or almighty TCAS feature that's blowing me away. Am I supposed to hear voices, bells and whistles, what?? Please help me because I would like to get my money's worth and see what all the hooplahh is about...Thanks to anyone who responds...

I just had a thought... first one today :-jumpy Anyway, you know how when certain televisoin networks attempt to "colorize" something, it just does not look as good, as originally aired in B&W?For instance, I would never want to see the "Jack Benny" program in color... it wasn't meant to be; same for old silent movies, etc.Well, I think it would be neat if someone could create a scenery scape (like what some designers include with their aircraft), but in black & white, so that, when flying vintage aircraft - "Kitty Hawk", "Spirit Of St.Louis", etc. - one can feel as though he/she is in that era. I guess that since most monitors cannot go totally B&W (not my V…

  4. Hello Gang!Has anyone noticed that the FFX DC-9 and MD-80 series have little problem with the wing landing lights where they stay stuck in the retracted position? Let me explain:The DC-9 and MD-80 series have landing ligts on the bottom tip of the wings. When the landing lights are activated for takeoff and landing, these lights extend outwards and the beam of light moves 90 degrees from facing down to facing forward, hence illuminating towards the front (don't know if you understand what I'm tryin to say). In the FFX models, both the DC-9 and the MD-80, the ligts are in the right positions and they illuminate, but they do not move to illuminate forward - they stay stu…

It came to the E-mail address that I use here, and not at my website. I have sent Mails off to all companies listed in the Header, and hopefully they will soon be deactivated.ThanksAl

Hey guys i was flying the PSS Dash 8 300 and it is a remarkable aircraft. Very well done. Actually its one of the best so far. I think we should focus on Making the Dash 8 Q100 series.I am appealing to the designers to have a look at these pictures to have an idea of what could be done. Please have a look.http://www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=40634http://www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=40638http://www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=1414http://www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=10551http://www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=10813

Hi guysMy fav a/c is the sia marchitti. Difficult and can be unforgiving but great fun nevertheless. The only 'fault' is that when I have shut everything off (the engine, fuel, batteries etc,) I can still hear the rumble of the wheels on the tarmac!!Has anyone else noticed this and is there a quick fix?

Well... after finally getting up the nerve to install CFS3 (got it for Christmas), I was most certainly p*ssed off! Never had I ever come across a game/program that said I needed to update my video drivers (blah!). I had updated to newer ones (some, such as 40.19 & 40.72) but, for some odd reason, Links2001 will NOT work with those two (courses don't load and game crashes/freezes), and with other drivers, the anti-alias has no effect on Links, and looks crappy on FS2002; or at least, not as good as the default drivers*. * I am currently using the Hercules Prophet II/GTS 64 default drivers that came on the CD with the card (4.12.01.056 version# shown in Desktop/displ…

Dear members,This has been asked before but it seems that I cannot find the thread in AVSIM forum. Does anybody know how to diable the transisition in Spot View Mode? I understand that you can do this from the menu while you're flying. But I don't find it practical to do this every time I started FS2002.I know that it has something to do with modufying fs2002.cfg.Can anybody help me with this? Thank you in advance.Regards, japangg

Hi all.I've ordered the "general aviation pack" by...? Well, it says abacus on this site: http://se.pricerunner.com/games-and-consol...s/126560/pricesOK, now here's my problem. I can't find anything on it. Not one single review or anything. I searched abacus' site, but found nothing. I tried google and altavista, nothing. So, before I crack the seal on that baby, has anyone tried this one before? If not, that means it's time for me to put on my reviewing hat once again :D

I would just like to congratulate the makers of this wonderful piece of history the b25 'Briefing Time'.After buying the download yesterday form here in the uk i cant stop flying this great aircraft, going throu the checklists are just amazing and all the speeds and controls are spot on like if you follow the instructions and lift the nose wheel a few inches going down the runway it really does take off its self.If you have any money spare and are looking for a great payware aircraft this one comes highly recommended, and also your helping to keep this piece of history flying.Once again a big thatnk you to the designers for giving me the best aircraft in my hanger.

I have downloaded the definite king of the freeware DC9 models available to date, FFX's MD80 derivative. However, I am having a couple of problems. The US Navy gray repaint tends to keep the nose gear extended especially after replaying your takeoff from spot view. Furthermore, on the two repaints I have downloaded the throttles are oversensitive giving N1 oscilations that did not happen with my current setup on any other addon or default aircraft.I have also tried different panels to fit this bird. Although Paul Golding's FS2000 MD80 panel is among the best, the 2K2 adaptation will not allow toggling hdg and alt hold with your mouse or changing vertical speed on the orig…

What is the proper way to calculate true groundspeed? I found some examples on the web, but they did not make sense as there were no altitude references. I thought the higher you went the more difference it made.So my question is, what is the formula one uses to figure this out. While you mathmeticians are at it... could you give me some fuel calculations too? Basically what does one usually set in % for taxiing, takeoff, climb, flight... etc.Thank you!JohnnyKTUS

  25. I suspect this might sound like a real dumn question -- but here goes anyway!!There are a number of different kind of airports.Firstly the BIG International ones - primarily flown into by big jets, with an ILS system and under ATC control. Then you go down the scale to airports which have a mix of big and small aircraft, no ILS but also under ATC control. Then Rightdown to unattended airports which have Navaids and associated approach plates .So -- do you only fly say an NDB or VOR approach at an unattended airport? Why would you fly one at an attended airport?Bit confused about it all . Thanks barry
