There was a post on this forum a few months back in regards to changing the format of textures on AI Aircraft (PAI , FSP, etc.) to improve framerates. The suggestion was to open the textures using imagetool and save the DXT3 textures as DXT1. It cuts the size of the bitmap in half and you will eliminate reflections but to me, that does not matter as I like a lot of AI and I have a lower end machine so I can live with that. The problem is, when I try this, the textures get all messed up. Some turn black, some other colors. Don't know is there is something else in Imagetool that I need to do to the texture to correct this. Just trying to figure out what step I am missing he…

hi all,well this is from KatyP who has the beta, she has confirmed in another forum AI use multiple runways ... "...For example, at KLAX all 4 runways are in use in FS2004. The two outer runways (furthest from the terminal building) are used for arrivals from the North/South the 2 inner used for departures. So if you're departing to the North, say to KSEA, you'll get the closest inner runway the direction you're going. Sounds confusing, but sure looks neat. And of course, you can request a different runway when you get your taxi clearance at the gate.":-jumpy

Anybody know if PAI (AI Aircraft) will work with FS 2004? If so, I wonder how you would install them? I think I'll just copy over the AI directories and stuff and run the compiler and pray! Does anybody have any further info on this?Thanks for the help!Dan :) :+

Hi,I never used to like Autogen, felt it looked pretty random and fake, until I downloaded some great South Florida scenery that it seems to work really well with. I now fly with it set at "very high" level.My system is near top-notch- P4 3.06, 1mb RDRAM, Radeon 9700, so I get smooth framerates locked at 30FPS flying the Dreamfleet Archer. That is, during the daytime... I tried flying at night yesterday and found that the Autogen (apparently) brings my system to a near stall (4FPS)! while looking out the side windows at less than 1500 ft. Above that altitude it smooths out.I know all those little twinkling lights must take some system power, but am I alone in this? If not…

If you look upon FS2000 as a somewhat ill-fated alpha release of FS2002 then the leap from FS98 to FS2002 was ENORMOUS in every respect.The jump from FS2002 to FS2004, on the other hand, is not all that much compared with what went before. Okay, anybody had this before within FS2002.For some reason, my chosen resolution (1280x1024) is no longer working (fine in Windows, just not in FS). I've reset the display settings and 800x600 is fine, 1024x768 is fine, even 1600x??? is working but whenever I try the 1280x??? is defaults back to 640x480... Hi all, I had a question for the PSS Bus users out there. I was curious how long it took for your to basically know what to do from a cold/dark cockpit until engine shut-down at the destination airport, that includes to MCDU functions, autopilot, the over-head panel functions.I just bought this bird today, and honestly I havn't the slightest clue on what to do. I have been reading the most important parts of the manuel piece, by piece, and I'll try to get that done. So how long did it take? And did it just involve practice, and lot's of time on the bird? I've never fiddled much with local and global visibility settings in fs2002 until recently. I set global and local visibility to 10 miles just to see what would happen. The mountains and valleys in the distance were abruptly cut off by a wall of white at a distance of 10 miles. Since I'm flying in rough terrain, the transition really stands out. I can see a gradation of haze up to the 10 mile point, and this looks fine. The problem is there is no gradation "beyond" the ten mile point. I just see a solid wall of white with a very sharp transition between the wall and the terrain I'm traveling through. This doesn't seem right. The mountains and valleys should still …

I'd like to do an overseas flight in fs2002 eventually. When I do it though I'll just let it run overnight so i don't have to sit here and watch for 8 hours straight but I have a question. Is there anyway to do the flight using fs2002 ATC and without them cancelling your IFR fp during hte handoffs and commands?
