I am going to write a sentence..."Hey, what are you doing?"You have just read a sentence. How did you interpret that sentence?Hint: There are 3 general ways to interpret the very simple sentence above (though, much more than that, but I will use the following 3 to make a point)...1) Friendly, as in fun curiosity.2) Neutral, as in a general question.3) Hostile, as in an accusation. The point I am trying to make is that the sentence was "written" to you, and not "spoken" to you. If you never met the individual writing the sentence, the interpretation is probably going to be based on the reader, not the writer. Lets pretend there is no additional content, so you have to inte…

Yes I know, I know, many of you profess to be utterly free of stutters so this post may not be for you. However, what I am about to describe may prove useful in the future, even to you lucky people, so read on.A while back there was an interesting thread whereby many contributors were experiencing improved performance by simply lifting a generic entry from display.cfg that seemed the closest match for their graphic card and pasting it in place of the Display entry in the FS9.cfg file. My current entry as written by FS9 is:(DISPLAY.Device.RADEON 9800 PRO.0)Mode=1280x1024x32TriLinear=1PanelAsTexture=0 :)It would certainly be interesting to hear of the experience of others…

This is a bit awkward, but I have the feeling I'm not the only one experiensing this.On some airports (allways addon scenery) I tend to have a major FR decrease whenever the A/C moves. It can be during taxi, T/O or when the aircraft touches down on landing. The effect is quite drastic, from 17-18 FPS to 1-3.Use the breaks and bring it to a stop - I regain the FPS, as soon as I start moving again I get the same slideshow. The strange thing about it is that this does not happen consistantly, sometimes I get this phenomenon and other times all goes smooth. I can't find any pattern other then it only occurs with 3rd party scenery. It can happen with any aircraft (had it with t…

I thought I read somewhere in this forum, or it could have been in another, or I could have been dreaming...but I seem to recall a post that stated that you could create a gauges folder within a given aircraft folder in FS2004. This is of interest to those of us who do not wish to co-mingle third party gauges in the FS2004 main gauges folder. It is also for ease in removing or updating those third party gauges with respect to new aircraft panel offerings.Searches return nothing. Any recollections? help?

This shot shows the Wilkes Barre/Scranton area and the Susquehanna River. Is the river data flawed, or is this a landclass issue?Timhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/35932.jpg

Hi,I was wondering if anyone else has or had the same problem with FS2004. I have a Geforce 4 Ti 4200 64meg and run full screen 1280*1024 to suit my LCD monitor. I have the latest Nvidia 45.23 drivers and run XP Pro. Since installation of FS9 FS2004 when I switch from window to full screen the screen goes black and the mouse pointer flashes with the hourglass and the HDD is accessed. I have waited but it stays like that indefinately. I have tried earlier drivers without success. It doesnt do it all the time and I have deleted the config to start again. Any ideas.Mike United Kingdom

Hello All:Recently I have noticed that each time I startup FSACOF the plane I choose has the rudder fully deflected and I cannot recenter it. Any idea why this could be happening and what to do about it?Thanks for any ideas.

I know I became an instant fan as soon as Bob's project was introduced. His final result is far beyond anything I'd ever imagined.... I thought this link would be of interest to simmers who are enjoying this new aircraft--it has more tech stuff than anyone could imagine.... http://www.cafefoundation.org/aprs/legacy.pdfRegards,John

I understand that you have to set your altimeter to QNH below transition altitude and standard above transition altitude. Is there a name for the speed restriction boundry? For example in the US below 10,000 feet you're not supposed to exceed 250 KIAS. I thought the speed restriction boundry was called transition altitude, while transition level was related to QNH/Standard.Thanks

Anyone with the Carenado 210 notice what happens to your panel lights when you switch on the landing lights at night? On my system, at least, the panel lighting seems to "double", becoming almost unreadable (and really ugly looking).Anyone else experiencing this? If so, is there a fix or why does it occur?Best,Joel

Well guys, my trusted mentor, Bill Leaming has saved the day I believe. One of the gauges made for the Legacy was made with Easy Gauge. And as Bill pointed out, and I failed to remember, you need to have the Gaugesound.dll located in your FS root directory, or when changing aircraft or exiting, the sim will crash. I will repack the project and upload to Avsim.Sorry bout that guys.Bob C.

I have a P3 667MHz, 374MB pc133, geforce 4 4200 128MB graphics.Frame rates with FS2004 are generally OK until I turn up virtual traffic and detail ground candy. Taking off from a major airport with everything at max gives about 3-4 fps.I only need a fast PC for Flight Simming so what is the minimum I could get away with to give me 15fps + in the same situation?e.g. I could get a new mobo and AMD1.5 XP for under

Has anyone read the OpEd over at Flightsim about the realism (or lack therof) in the way FS models rudder response? If what the author says is true- and I'm not a real pilot so I don't know- it seems incredible that I've never heard anyone mention it before. Would seem like a huge oversight in flight modeling, and at least something that people who plan to use FS as a "training tool" in their real flight studies would want to know about. But given that, having not heard of this before, is there another side to the story or is the author right on point? Interested in opinions from pilots and non-pilots on this one, please take a read of the OpEd if you get a chance.Best,Joe…

hi all,With the advent of fs2004 becoming a VC environment, who prefers VC to the 2D counterpart?PMDG have a fantastic 3D cockpit, but unfortunately that plane brings my flightsim to its knees, the frame rates are pretty poor with all that details and advanced processing.Just for fun, i hoppped back into the default 737 VC and pushbacked and taxied to the rwy 25R at KLAX at night, and boy it was wonderful, very smooth and the night lights from the ac were fantastic.I think MS did a pretty good job on the VC even if its pretty basic.

Desperate about this: I want to do some long runs with a Meljet or POSKY 744F. To do the range, I need to load restrict - how can I reduce the ZFW of the aircraft in the sim?

Hi, Don't know if my "subject" line is the correct terminology, but I enjoy flying the big jets more often than not, and I am looking for a "freeware" or even a "payware" package of cockpit sounds I could add to FS2004 COF that can be incorporated into any of the big jet sounds, (B737, 747, 757, 767, 777, Airbus, etc) that will add the "callouts" for altitude on approach, ie; 100 feet, 50 feet, 20 feet, etc, and warning callouts for example, "terrain-pull up". I have seen some short videos from some folks in this forum and others in the past that had sounds like that, but its been awhile back and I don't recall who they were. Does anyone have any links to places on this s…

Being a student pilot I was looking forward to using FS9 for learning/practicing procedures. I have found though that several of the RL frequencies my local airport uses are incorrect in the sim. IRL my aiports tower is 121.90 and in the sim it's 121.70. Is there anyway to edit the sim so that I can correct these errors? Thanks!Dave

I (still) have a FS2002. I changed PC recently and spend some time to have it working correctly. Now I came back to FS and after adjusting several adds-on that worked on the old PC also under Home XP I want to fly again. That is when I noticed that the VOR1 gauge on any plane and at any location does not react to the VOR position. The DME works OK. The sound signal says that I am in the VOR range. But noway to use the VOR1 gauge with any VOR or ILS. The VOR2 reacts to VOR stations (not ILS of course)normally.Has anybody an idea what is going on here?Roger Potie

I guess I should be contacting Scott on this, but for the record, does anyone know if a new version of "Guage Clean" for FS2004 is in the pipeline? It's a very handy program I just cannot do without...LOL.Regards,Tom Stewart
