I recently posted a thread about a problem I have with CTDs and received some helpful advice - thanks folks. Having explored pages and pages of threads on this/seasonal CTDs and the various fixes for it, I'd like to mention an extra element of my problem which no one else seems to have.Like many of you, I get CTD at certain areas in the scenery, especially in north America/Alaska. I have been testing this on the runway at CYEV in the Northwest Territories: as soon as I get onto the runway and switch on my GPS, CTD. If I leave the GPS off I'm fine. All seasons, all weathers. Hi All,I'm running into a terribly irritating problem. My neighbour is installing FS9 on his system (Dell 8250, 512MB RAM, Nvidia MX420 64MB, SB Live!, WinXP) and when we try and double click the FS9.exe icon on the desktop the following DLL's show as being unable to load:acontainAI_playrATCControlsDemoFacilitiesFEFlightFSUIG2DG3DInstructorMainMultiplayerSoundSymmapTerrainTrafficand a partridge in a pear tree!!We've un-installed and reinstalled with the same result. I am using 3.7s, and with every release since those, I have had issues shall we say. So I would prefer not to load the suckers if they have problems with FS2004. Your experiences would be appreciated.Noel

I'm flying the Baron 58, and I'm learning on the GPS. Suppose you've activated an approach in keeping with your flight plan. But when you contact the tower at your destination airport, they assign you a different runway. I read here where you can request a different transition. How do you do that? Also, how many of you fly GPS until you get to your approach, and then switch to a VOR or ILS landing? How do you do that, too? It can get complex, but I'm sure someone has an answer for me.

I have a vision of a program that will allow the user to make their own VA from scratch for online or their own personal enjoyment. I was doing a flight last night and noticed that the runway textures were very bright, almost like the daytime runway textures with all the markings visible. It was about 10:00pm with no visible moon. I slewed above the airport and all the taxiways and runways were like this. I have never noticed this before. The runways/taxiways should not be visible at night, even with a full moon. I should only see the lighting. I haven't done a large amount of flying in FS9 due to computer issues but I just got a new one and I can't figure out why the airports look like this at night. I have the hardware indicated below as part of my signature.For about $300 +/- I can get a 3.06 GHz 533 FSB Pentium which includes Hyperthreading which my motherboard supports.Another alternative is a new CPU, motherboard, and RAM. I'm thinking 3.0 GHz 800 FSB Pentium (non-Prescott), ASUS P4P800, 1 GB RAM. This looks something like $800 +/-.I'm leaning toward the first as an interim until much faster Prescott Pentiums are available.Perspectives from the community would be appreciated.

Excuse if this has been on a zillion times. I had not noticed it. I have discovered (In FS9, Century of Flight) that when crossing a VOR on autopilot, in NAV mode, in the Cessna 172, Cessna 182, Learjet, 777, and some others the aircraft will go into a steep banked turn, and if you don't recover manually or with the Heading mode, you lose the aircraft due to overstress or crash and so on. The 172 just orbits the station likes it is in love. The Mooney will fly on across but it drops the NAV mode. The NAV light goes out and the airplane flies on. Is this a Microsoft problem? Are they going to fix it? What are the experiences on Avsim about this problem?ThanksAero…

I recently added the lear45 autopilot to the GPS window of an aircraft that didnt have an autopilot. With some help from BobL on the panel design forum, I got the sizing and display the way I wanted, and the autopilot works and functions well, but there is one problem. I can only change the heading and altitude increments by tens and hundreds, and not by ones.(eg 080, 090 etc..and 1000, 1100, 1200 etc..)I cant do 091, 092, or 1001, 1002, 1003 etc..)while the autopilot is engaged. If I dis-engage the auto pilot, then I can set them to whatever I want. As soon as I re-engage and try to change anything, I can only go by tens and hundreds again. I tried flying the Lear 45 and…

Hello All;I hate to ask a stupid question, but here goes. I was thinking about going ahead and dumping my FS 2002 and purchasing FS 2004. As I understand it, it has better weather, the ability to file IFR in flight, plus adjust the radios from the virtual cockpit. So, the question is, is does the FS 2004 Learjet have a virtual cockpit ?I hope I don't have any trouble running FS 2004, I have a pentium 4 with 256 mb of ram, 1.5 ghz, 32 mb graphics, and a 40 gb harddrive. A little over 2 years old, but probably obsolete 5 min. after I bought it new. Thanks in advance for any info.Baron.

Well, I've got my new system being built and now I'm wondering about which add-ons are considered mandatory or almost so for FS9. With FS2K and 2K2 I used to use FSUIPC, FS Meteo, Radar Contact, FS Nav 3.0 (I believe or was it FS Navigator, hmmm), and FS Traffic. Are these still popular and are they needed with the improved features that are in FS9 now? I still use PF2000 the odd time in FS2002. It works well, but you don't hear the AI with the adventures running. Has anyone ever got the FMC to work in add-on FS2002 panels? It works in the default 737-400, but when I add it to (for instance) Paul Golding's A310, FS just CTD.

hi everyone, i was just flying the default 777 and then i realised, the vc is terrible! the autopilot switches mainly dont work and you cant see the values dialed in anyway, there is also a big blank screen in the middle! in the 2d cockpit you alter the data shown by the screen, nav engine data etc, but none of that in the vc. has it gone wrong or has anyone else noticed this? is there a decent vc available from anywhere for this otherwise A1 plane?cheers,James
