Between the Avsim Flyin and the Battle of Airlines vs Cargo this weekend there was some great ATC on Vatsim this weekend! When there is full coverage of a busy area and the tech gods are smiling on you there really is no substitute for online flight. At times I forgot it was a simulator/game. The ATC was as good as any I've used in real life - maybe better actually. Good job those of you who spend your freetime making our freetime so enjoyable!!David

I have been trying to get acceptable FPS after installing Flight Ontario Scenery. On my system, with stock MS FS9 scenery and Traffic, I lock FPS at 20 and it's more-or-less at the max (20 FPS) with scenery and traffic sliders pretty well full right. When I installed The Flight-Ontario "Toronto" Scenery, the FPS jump all over the map, from as low as 1.0 all the way up to 20. Not so much "stuttering", as simply "jerking-all-over", and totally unusable. It turns out that the only culprit seems to be Traffic. Anything over like 8 percent Traffic, and FPS goes berserk, EVEN WITH Visibiliy and Scenery sliders full LEFT, and "no weather". But with Traffic set at zero, the FPS …

Has anyone been able to get the corsair to behave on takeoff?I read the other posting and all of the instructions enclosed with the plane but it seems impossible.I have to believe that this is not how the real aircraft behaves. I am a real pilot and i know all about "p" factor and torque and i know this thing is swinging a huge prop. But when yu can only give it 30" on takeoff and you still run out of right rudder that seems a little ridiculous. Lets not forget these aircraft were used during the war and they flew from unimproved airstips most of them not very long at all. There is no way that these aircraft got off the ground using 30" or less because of the torque. Neve…

I like others feel this is great news about an update to FS2k4. The only problem is how long it took Redmond to release it. Most of us don't have a basic install of FS2k4 anymore. We have tones of add-ons and tweaks to the sim that would be hard to get around at this point. Some of us have shut down certain Autogen objects due to framerate issues, others added various texture updates to enhance the speed of the sim. Case in point FSW's clouds, AI improvements like Ultimate Traffic, Active Camera.... How will FSUIPC be affected??? Many of us know you can fix one thing that totally hose something else. That's why the hope is always that a patch is release not that fa…

Not sure if this is the correct forum.I was just wondering if many/any people in Europe, when thinking of buying a payware product that is downloadable, actively seek out a US site to get it from rather than a European site in order to save paying VAT?

What 4-5 addon utilities are recommended by most for use with FS2004. I haven't installed any, but have read some about FSUIPC(I think).FSBuild, FSNavigator, etc.. It seems everyone talks regularly about four or five that they normally use, aside from addon aircraft and scenery. iMiller

Let's say I'm approaching an uncontrolled airport and there's no ATIS or Weather Advisory stations nearby. How do I determine which runway is the active runway? I didn't see any information like this in the tutorials so that's why I'm asking the question. Thanks for the help.

If one of the AVSIM staff that is Denver could ask MS a question this weekend regarding the patch...Is this going to require a virgin installation of FS? Most of us have a literal plethera of add-ons, ...USA Roads, FScene, FS Genesis, Chris Arrington's textures, to name a few... Are we going to lose all that when the executable runs???BobL

Currently I am doing an around the USA tour that I started with the purchase of FS9. Being in Easom,Mississippi (M23) on my tour I decided to see if my plane could survive Ivan. Since flying during a hurricane is unrealistic I decided to just leave FS running all day with 15 mins updates on WX. During the day I keep checking the winds and finally they were steady 242/33 gusting 99. I had moved my plane from the save area knowing if Icome back and my plane is back where I saved it then I had crashed and it reloaded but being that my a/c was North with the wind off my side even gusting up to 99Knots my plane survived. During the storm I decided to see what would of happe…

I am currently running FS9 on a midrange system with overall good performance., my only bugbear is the lack of force feedback pressure on the joystick (Sidewinder FF2), when flying a heavy. The joystick functions perfectly well on other games and FSK2, so i assume ammendments were made to the default configuration in FS9 itself.I am wondering if this has been addressed with the forthcoming patch or if it has been considered at all., either way any comments would be most appreciated Cheers., Dan Poets are the unackowledged legislators of the world

I seem to have got trouble with the invisible building crash 'bug' that is a problem at several airports as there are a number of posts on it. It occurs when I click S to change view.It is happening at NZWN and I am using the NZWN scenery(which incidentally is very good) from the Windowlight/Godzone site.I am running MSFS2K2 and the scenery was developed for Fs9 but it also happens with scenery for 2K2 running on Fs9.It is diffcult to see if any solution to the problem has been found other than disabling crash detection.Does anyone have other suggestions?Thanks,:-hmmm

Hi Folks,Recently, Lincoln NE (KLNK) changed their runway numbering for 17R/35L and 17L/35R. 17R is now 18 and 35L is now 36. 17L/35R was changed to 17/35. The ILS designation previously labeled for 17R/35L was changed to match the new numbering. To make the sim match my real life approach plates, I decided to use AFCAD to renumber the runways AND the associated ILS approaches. Runway renumbering worked fine, sim ATC recognized the new numbering just fine. HOWEVER, it did NOT recognize the fact of the renumbered ILS approaches--in fact, since there was no 17R/35L runway, there was NO numbered/labeled ILS approaches in the ATC menu at all. The ATC menu just had a listing fo…

Hi all,I would like to install EFIS 98 for its EFIS Planner (which in my opinion gives the most realistic prints).I have installed FS 2000 hoping that EFIS 98 would install, but it won't. It says it requires FS 98. I don't have an FS 98 CD anymore.Does anyone know what to do about this? I have EFIS 98 SP 2, but of course, that requires EFIS 98 to be installed first.I appreciate any input,Thanks,Sven.

Just wondering how this helps. Does it affect any existing addons, like fs genesis, or does it open the door to further addons that take advantage of the functionality (whatever it is, hehe)?billg

Sounds wierd, right? Well, I installed a new NVidia 6800GT O.C. card last week and replaced an ATI 9800 Pro 128. I saw a nice improvement in Frames. At KABE (my home airport) with REAL WEATHER, and most of my sliders maxed, I went from about 22Frames to about 30Frames. But this morning, I unhooked my MSFF2 joystick and installed a Cyborg Gold (Saitek)which I bought a couple of months ago, but haven't really tested yet. My Frames went up over 40 sitting on the tarmac with tremendously overcast skies (Real Weather). I'm sad because I love Force Feedback and I was on the Beta Team for Russell Dirks FSForce software. I love the program and am looking forward to updates. Howev…

The pitch action on my CH yoke is very "sticky" as it has been sitting unused for a while and collected dust. I put W-d40 on the rod but that didn't help. Anyone have an idea?

First...Thank you MS FS team though you have and continue to take scorn (though some well intentioned from many of us including myself) you have pleasantly surprised us and no doubt we all look forward to the update and the news concerning the continuation of our beloved FS....Thank you!!!A couple of thoughts/request for more consideration please...Scenery designers need the ability to re-mesh or completely flatten an area without having to rip apart and reassemble stock FS bgls (which is so annoying!!!)as Dick mentioned in his reply here:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...id=211033&page="I was hoping they would give us the terrain-redesign ability to return…

The yellow routes are 1900D and green are 737 (see route map for details). Please e-mail myself or patrick with any questions or comments.http://www.flysky1.comAt the current time, we are only supporting PMDG 1900D and 737-600 as we hope to have textures for Mike Stone's 1900D done soon.
