Are everybodies buildings blurry - or just mine. Here is a picture of the default Chicago Meigs scenery -- you can see that the lettering on the fuel pumps is unreadable and the building behind is unclear.I have a Geforce 4 TI 4200 vid card with 128 meg ram. I find that I have to change all my aircraft exterior textures to DXT3 format for smaller size - and I also have to save them as DXT3 with NO mipmaps -- otherwise my external a/c textures are also unclear.Any ideas?Thanks Barryhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/124833.jpg

After a complete uninstall and reinstall of fs9 I checked under the help tab and found that the upgrade did not show up. I downloaded it again and tried to install it but I get an error message saying the upgrade is installed and it won't go forward. I found an uninstall icon in the fs9 directory, ran it, still no joy. I uninstalled Fs9 and reinstalled again, still no luck. Anyone have any ideas? JamesJ

Hi,I've been playing with Deane Baunton's UH-1 series of helicopters. I've got the FAB repaint by Cristiano Magnani, and Deane's release of the UH-1D. I was hoping to use the updated sounds by Manuel Gonzalez and Olle Kauppi from the Christiano's UH-1H repaint in the UH-1D, but when I tried it there was no sound. When I checked out the aircraft.cfg files, I noticed that in the UH-1D the Engine type=3 (Heli), whereas in the UH-1H (FAB), the Engine type=5 (Turboprop). Hmmm.I assume this is where the problem is in the sound. Should I change the engine type to 5 for the UH-1D? All the other parameters in the engine section are the same between the two files. I want to mention some R/C software called aerofly that I recently picked up that translates the feeling of realism to a simulation just about 100% all the time for me. This is something that happens on and off with Flight Simulator 2004 but for the most part the feeling is different from real life. I have been flying R/C planes on and off for the last 25 years as well as being a Private Pilot for the last 14 years. In all those years of Radio Controlled flying there were lots of things I wasn't willing to try to risk crashing another model as well as in real life to fly by the book. My lightning strike displays are blocky and solid as displayed by my ATI XL 800 Pro.Is there an effects file that will cure this? A search of the library returns nothing. A search at the 'other site' returns a file named 'fslightng.zip' which contains nothing but a bmp file.Does ASV have anything to do with how lightning strikes are displayed?HelpDom

After watching some plane crash videos, I wonder whether such is possible to simulate in FS as well.E.g. is there any add-on which allows for partial gear landings, and are semi-crashes possible at all or do the contact points automatically trigger a full crash?Andreas

I've just installed the PANC scenery by FRF Studios, the problem is, the new terminal building is not there and I noticed there are no textures included. I moved the RWY 12 object to the RWY 12 folder. The only objects showing in front of the new terminal are the jetways. Ciao to all,I've posted on PMDG forum, but didn't receive any responce....To get the TCAS "on" I need to select the switch on the pedestal to TA/RA and CSF on the autopilot..correct??But i don't get the "TCAS" word on the central display...Also if i do the TCAS test....I don't get anything...Why???Please help...PAco

I live in the US and have only been downloading freeware and payware scenery of the US, since I just fly within the US. However, now that ive been getting into the PMDG 747, I would like to try flying overseas flights. Since I haven't paid much attention to scenery packages in Europe, I was wondering what the best scenery's are available (payware or freeware) for the UK and Germany. Thanks for any advice.Rob

During my holidays on Lanzarote, I had the opportunity to watch different aircraft land and takeoff using both directions of the runway there at different days and weather conditions.It's possible to get very close to the runway, especially at both ends of it, so one can exactly watch what the pilots do to align the plane with the centerline and get it down.Knowing the approach procedures well, I was more than puzzled by the fact that all approaches without exception were made more by "brute force". I just hope that there is any hope to relieve the dilemma of the ever-changing SID/STARs - my flight planner and FMC is constantly out of sync and therefore give me incorrect data and massive flight planning headaches.I would suggest to generally lock down the SID/STARs for flight simming and increase the cycle to a yearly update.

Hello,I'm doing some software work on my simulator and would like to know what the NTVDM.EXE (16 bit virtual machine) module is running in my fs9.1 sim. There seem to be times when it is using VERY HIGH % of the CPU. I first noticed it when running my FS-1/Dreamfleet Bonanza. I had FSNAVIGATOR on a second screen and the only thing in the Bonanza that I could think of was the Reality XP 430/ 500 Weather Radar that is part of the add-on.I have been getting some CTD's when I use my network computers for other addons like RC3.1 or QUICKMAP.I am running a very quick machine (MONARCH - ATH 3500+, 1 GIG of ram and two NVIDIA 6800 ULTRA's. I am using XP and no virus protection …
