Come one come all! The friendly staff at the Dangerous Airports Database will be in tearing up the turf this Saturday in British Columbia, Canada. We need your help though! If you love VFR flying through mountains and dangerous, complicated airfields that require STOL aircraft, then you're just the captain we're looking for! Come out and help us perform evaluations on 7 remote fields in the BC wilderness by filling out a simple and short form about the airfields you visited. After the 7 fields have been evaluated, we will continue to fly around the area looking for new fields to add to our growing database. Dont feel like doing the paperwork and just wanna dust off that o…

I was asked by jd to do some final testing on V4.0 of R/C. Now I have had V3.1 since it came out. I even did my own voice files so I could hear my own voice within FS. Now I thought that R/C could not get any better

How I fly.I always have plenty of time on my hands so I enjoy flying long flights (not necessarily long haul). For example the MacRobertson Air Race (non stop catching 2 or 3 hours occasionally but only when on the ground), Beaver from New Guinea to Alaska (4 days, longest without sleep in that one was 24 hours), RTW in the heavies, etc. Flights I am planning are RTW in Concorde following most of a charter flight flown in 2000 later this month (in the air for 22 hours I think but add time for refueling etc) and having a try at the recent 23 hour flight by the Boeing Pilots in the 777LR.I don't pause. I fly without time compression (please don't make this a chat about tim…

I downloaded the fabulous DH 104 Dove (dh104v1.zip) from the library yesterday and am here today to sing its praises. What a great model of a very unique aircraft. Congratulations and thanks to Derek Palmer and the team, Saverrio Maurri, Rick Piper, Brian Withers, Garry Russell. Saverrio's panel is top flight. And all shared with the community as freeware. Amazing.BlairCYOW

Reading a post on this Forum, reminded me of a flight (fs9) I made out of O'Hare a couple of weeks ago. i hope the Moderators will allow the pic.It used to be a 'party piece' in my RC Model aircraft days, only then I used a Tiger Moth DH82a.KenSomerser, England

The release of Jordan Moore's Bell 412 prompted me to learn how to fly the helicopters in FS2004. I've spent the last several days training with the Owen Hewitt's excellent Bell 206B and have made good progress so far. However, my main issue now is that I almost invariably find myself drifting backwards when trying to enter into or maintain a hover. This is because I'm not able to judge my attitude and tell whether I'm slightly nose up or nose down. I just naturally pull the nose slightly up which causes me to drift backwards.Does anyone have any tips on how to accurately judge attitude in the helos? Any pointers would be much appreciated.Thanks.

Just recently I have had a file named 'Managerrefdent.exe' attempt to phone home to Microsoft after failing to load. The file only surfaces when using FS and has a date stamp of 13/10/05 (10/13/05 for some). Does anyone have any idea what it is about and if it is something to worry about? It resides in the c:Documents and SettingsandyApplication DataAdmin for' folderThanksAndy b http://www.jdtllc.com/images/rcv4bannerbeta.jpg

Just curious if there is any software that would allow you to program a set of checklists? By this I mean actual commands, like raising the landing gear, actuating flaps, truning lights on, checking on status of a particular system, or any other part of a checklist procedure. I know there are some out there, but seem to only do so by voice callouts, wihtout any actual functionality performing the actual command, with the exception of FS2Crew of course. I fly jets a lot that are not covered by FS2crew, and for the time being before they release some for the other planes currently offered, anything of this sort could help alleviate the load a lot, especially on a busy on-li…

Why do areas like the western United States and various other areas look different when the seasons change? I live in Southern California and it looks pretty much the same year round. Heck, even sometimes it is greener during the winter months if it has been raining quite a bit. I was just doing a flight over Florida and it looks as brown as Pennsylvania. FScene textures and BEV offer no relief in my frustration in this. Is it just not possible because of texture usage to get this right? Any information would be appreciated.Scott

Greetings All,I have read many post here praising the 767 and 737 and think that maybe I'm missing out. I use the IFdg 767-200,300, which have very stable flight mods and funny enough the default 737, which also performs quite well for my purposes. Alternating between Glass and ana panels, which are a Hybrid of my own patchwork but are very functional, which leads me to the reason for this post. I was wondering if a few of you, both 767 and 737, could kindly post a few screen shots of the main panels and maybe some sub panels so that I can decide which one I'll like to buy. The actual visual model is not a biggy with me as there is not much of a walk-around preflight i…

For those of you that like the MD 80, check out the MDMax version at http://www.mdsuper80.com/. Although they had some "rough" times initially (very late updates and availability of FMC), the recently released update w/FMC is truly outstanding. You also have the option of adding a module to merge the JCA MD80's if you own them. Very, very nice package with incredible systems modelling.I have removed the much troubled LAGO version from my hard drive.

Ever since I bought a new laptop a few months ago (which, other than the problem outlined in this post, runs FS9(.1) beautifully, even with a million-and-one add-ons, options pretty much maxed out, and at 1920x1200 resolution), I have had problems with the sound in FS9.I am wondering whether the cause could, in part, be with some of the aircraft sound files I have installed from the AVSIM file library ("Ultimate 747" and such like). Whilst these files undoubtedly make an impressive noise, I have been reading online posts by Steve Lacey, one of the FS development team at Microsoft. One thing that set me thinking was reading between the lines of his statement: "Remember tha…

I'm using my very highly customised FS2004 (with hardware panel etc.) with Windows 2000 Professional. It works well so I consider deinstalling my Windows 2000 Professional, installing Windows XP and then installing all my applications, extensions etc. very time consuming (I estimete reinstalling everything a 40+ hours work) and risky. So I'd like to know if anybody tried with any success Reaity XP Flight Line T (current version 5.2.1) with Windows 2000 Professional? This product requires Windows XP...Because I'm owner of RealAir SF260 I already know how much your simming experience in VC can be improved with gauges running smoothly (especially with TrackIR). The idea of ad…

I went to Milwaukee Airport this morning for a quick look prior to leaving for work and there was snow on the ground and it was snowing... I think this is one of the nicest effects in FS9, and look foward to some more "snow flying" from now on.... Happy Thanksgiving everyone.....:)

I hope you can help. I am desperately in need of the charts for ZBAA - Beijing. I have trawled through the usual sites and spent several hours working my way through google etc without success. I'm surprised no one has mentioned it to this point, but the recent release of the B-36 by Kazinori Ito is nothing less than stellar. He has even included the XF-85 Goblin scout plane which is housed in the bombay to be launched with a keystroke. Add Curt May's sound file, and you have an outstanding addition to your military fleet. Dating myself a bit, as a kid I remember hearing the B-36 overhead before I was able to finally pick it out of the sky, I'm guessing probably at 40,000' plus. The low drone of the PW's was distinctive to its identification. Some interesting comparisons to the Airbus A-380 from a plane manufactured in the late 40's and early 50's.A-380: Length: …
