So there I was, just a few minutes ago, cruising in my DC-3 at 17,000' over the Dominical Republic on my way IFR from Haiti to St. Thomas. No failures set for the flight. Next thing I know, my altimeter suddenly starts going crazy, says I'm at 6,000' now, and I'm climbing. ATC comes on and says, "Douglas 0DC, you're 700 above your assigned altitude, descend and maintaing 17,000. Current altimeter 4117." Obviously a crazy pressure was reported to Jeppesen by one of the Dominican Republic weather stations, normally highly reliable, I'm sure. I'm adding a new texture to the cfg file of an aircraft I just downloaded, but can't seem to find the cfg file that I can open w/notepad. I did this a few times several months ago, but can't figure it out now. arrgh ! :>) I even have a shortcut on my desktop just to open the cfg FS9 files. double arrgh..I open that folder, and open the aircraft folder in question. Then click on the 'state cfg file'and open it with notepad.. All it says inside is- 'engine.0 accumulated time=' I know it's in there somewhere,and I know you know where.Thank you very much,I'm running out of hair... :-) Bill

Lately I have been getting unexplained CTDs. The ones that simply shut down the FS9, then I restart the flight and all goes well. Usually happened like after takeoff, or little later. Don't have a thing to do with overheating or similar (been playing other games, which require more CPU and GPU!).So I've been thinking of how can I see what causes it, because usually you get some unknown event in Event Manager only.Idea: leave FileMon running (makes the FS9 run a bit slower, on my highend machine) and I think when the CTD occurs, you would see in FileMon what caused the CTD! Thanks for the answer about AI traffic, now have a question about clouds......my mind wants to soak up knowledge today!!From what I see, when people modify cloud textures to increase fps, it is usually the Cumulus01.bmp that gets reduced. What are all the other cumulus(cumulus_broken.bmp, etc) used for. When do they come into play? Why are these still left at larger sizes, and not reduced also? Would it not help if all cloud texture sizes were reduced?Thanks!Rick

I'm having a problem which has been bugging me for some months (at least six). I have Mike Stones L1011 - wonderful aircraft - but I'm having probs with the weight and balance. I became interested in loading up to MTOW with cargo and doing a few short hops, and again loading up fully fuelled and doing some longer runs - in general just what you'd expect an aircraft to do. However - as it is I'm having probs doing this. I've tried changing the cargo stations, but it seems the only place I can add cargo without it tipping up is right in the cockpit - and then I break a nosewheel on landing. To all Ai-lovers,just a stupid question.I love the models (and repaints) of Aarvark. So far, I have found quite some base models and repaints to liven up my virtual skies.However, I'm still looking for a base model for the B727-100 and 200.Repaints I find plenty but I just can't find the base model.It's a pity that those base models cannot be downloaded from the Aardvark homepage..Is there anybody who can point me in the right direction?thanksLuc 'Glaudrung' Brusselmans

Hey everyone, I put a search in for this but came up empty. Besides my other nightmares that have reappeared with FS9, I had this question. I have FE2004. I wanted to use the DXT clouds as the others bring my system performance down alot at times. With DXT, render to texture must be ticked in FS9. Is there any benefit in using render to texture other than allowing the use of DXT clouds? It seems like the performance suffers when I do use it. But then I can't use the lower quality clouds. Kind of a catch22, isn't it? I just wanted to see how many of you prefer render to texture? Best regards, Jeff

Could someone answer this question on how ai traffic loads. I understand that ai flightplans have a % at which they will load if you have traffic set to that % or higher. My question is this.....Lets say I have traffic % set at 75%. If I am flying in the US, but have flightplans from all over the world......does FS9 load all flightplans from 75% and below, or just flightplans 75% and below within a certain radius of my aircraft?Thanks!Rick

Does anyone know if the reception range for ATIS can be increased? I flew EGKK - EHAM last night with the PMDG 737NG. The Bendix-King KLN90B GPS offered by FS2X offers a wealth of aircraft performance data in addition to standard GPS functions. why is there so little notice of this little gem? Too bad there don't seem to be any panel.cfg's like Reality-XP. It's working great for me on the F1 C441. I've also checked real world C441's for sale and it appears there are about as many KLN90B's out there as there are Garmin 430/530. http://www.fs2x.com/

Evening all, Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I've been busting the internet looking for some maps and adventures for Canada bush flying, fishing trips, hunting trips, ect. For FS9 Please help. I know about the BFU, but i'm looking for more adventures in Canada, or for that matter in the 48 states would be good too. Not that I have anything against Alaska, I have all add-ons for it plus Misty. I'm just looking for some great trips in Canada and the USA for bush planes.Thanks, Dan

I managed to do this once -- but have now forgotten how. You are flying along and you wish to see whether an airport has runway lighting. I think that it is easy if the airport shows up in the "Nearest" list -- but not so if it is outside the range of that list.Thanks Barry
