Hangar Chat
This forum is for the discussion of things you might discuss when going into an airport hangar. Please make sure that your topic isn't covered in another forum before posting here. Please refrain from controversial topics...politics, religion, conspiracy theories, climate change, COVID etc. Topics that elicit or are deemed by staff likely to elicit heated argument, contention, or otherwise objectionable banter will be removed from view. We allow some latitude, but please remember that, first and foremost, this is a flight-simulator oriented site frequented by people from all walks of life.

My phone is racing toward fubar status, with a cracked screen, a dodgy battery and lens elements that jam making my award winning photos blurry. 🤨 Luckily for me the new S24 FE has been released, most of the features of the flagship phones but much cheaper. Big screen too. So I have one on the way. The reason I mention this is to alert my Avsim buddies to the fact that Samsung are giving away a free smart watch with the phone. So if you're in the market for a top-notch phone it might be worth considering. Phone offer only lasts till end of October though. https://www.samsung.com/uk/smartphones/galaxy-s/galaxy-s24-fe-blue-128gb-sm-s721blbdeub/

From Aviation Herald: " A Frontier Airlines Airbus A321-200, registration N701FR, flying flight F9-1326 from San Diego, CA to Las Vegas, NV (USA), landed on Las Vegas' runway 26L when large flames were seen on the right main gear. The plane stopped on the runway while emergency services responded and sprayed the right main gear with foam and water. There were no injuries. The airline said the crew smelled smoke and immediately declared Mayday, but it is unclear whether they were aware of the severity of the fire. The FAA later reported: "Frontier Airlines Flight 1326 made an emergency landing at Harry Reid Las Vegas International Airport after reports of sm…

Human beings are so easily fooled. Tell them it's a new version and they convince themselves it's much superior. 🙄 Good job we have such things as double blind placebo controlled trials.

Not supersonic yet. Mach 0.6 so far. We simmers are used to landing while looking at a screen so we should offer our services. Should be easy for us. 😀

I’ve known the head man at FS Labs for many years. Lefteris Kalamaras has often described me as a friend helping me out with a few problems with Concorde over the years. Most of you will know the company play their cards close to their chests and only reveal info very close to a release of their software. A topic was started in March enquiring about when FSL’s products would be made available for MSFS. A reply from Andrew Wilson said “we’ll announce it in due course”. The topic drifted on for months with various people asking when something would be available for MSFS especially with a new version coming. No answers other than the standard reply by the beta…

Been playing since 2002. The new release will be revolutionary. My first pick to manage is Brighton. And the release date too is not poles apart from MSFS 2024 😄

1942. Produced by Jacques Tourneur who was often a collaborator with Alfred Hitchcock. With Tourneur, the drama comes from mood music and weird surrealism instead of blood and gore. 2 discs in the DVD edition because it includes special features on #2. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01H66WAUI/ ----------------------------------------- 1957. An excellent classic film Night of the Demon (U.K. 95 minute version, American version Curse of the Demon was cut to 82 minutes). Based on the famous story Casting the Runes by M.R. James OB FMA. Both book and movie were based on the life of a real Englishman. They changed his n…

New research suggests, possibly. Specifically, they postulated in a 1996 paper that consciousness may operate as a quantum wave passing through the brain’s microtubules. This is known as Orch OR theory, referring to the ability of microtubules to perform quantum computations through a mathematical process Penrose calls “objective reduction.” https://www.popularmechanics.com/science/a62373322/quantum-theory-of-consciousness/
