Where to get the "Bing" version of Google Maps Enhancement?

Any tips to improve performance?  I'm using the High LOD setting and it looks very good but the impact is around 15% +/-. over MSFS default.  And it's one of those things where I have beau coup main thread and GPU headroom and yet the native rate drop to 39-41fps at KDEN just now.   I did the same flight, same time of day, gate etc and we were at 47-53fps at the gate after pushback.  I think it's going to be worth the hit but because I don't use DLSS FG as I'm happy to keep native rate locked at 45fps I'm hoping there might be some settings to help mitigate performance impact with this Bing Latest mod.

The only thing is Bing new but with high LOD disabled.

Bing Latest is pretty amazing and much better than Google Maps. It does feel like an MS2024 preview.

Do you think it's worth using w/o the high LOD enabled?

Imho you would have the sane resolution as the default Bing but with more detailed and newer tiles.

Seems like you're saying there is definitely some value.  Ok cheers I'll try it though I've already been...spoiled!

If you want to edit your hosts file in notepad, and notepad tells you that you don't have permission, then type notepad in Windows search bar and right click and run as administrator. You can then edit it.

One symptom of a faulty hosts file is very slow loading of flights in MSFS.

Yes it is, but the problem with this app (high or normal LOD) is that there are certain areas in which the default tiles look better... areas with baked in clouds or custom watermasks that are not present in the raw Bing maps.

Sadly, there isn't a solution for the entire world.

P.S. There's no need to manually edit the hosts file with recent versions of the app

I can't help but notice so much beige colored everything w/ the Bing Latest--what was greenish tinted is now all white/beige and I think it looks much worse overall.

I notice that too , however using HDR plus some Nvidia filters makes the terrain look much better ( upping contrast and vibrance)

I prefer using GFE's 'Detail' filter along w/ NCP's Desktop Color Settings including vibrance.  Fortunately we have lots of nice options to get to something that looks best to our own perceptions.  One person's poetic license to make the world look better than it does in the RW is another person's 'cartoon'.  I'm not done with Bing Latest and am retrying default to see which one I prefer overall and right now out of KORD it looks quite good.  Here is a shot of Chicago w/ this overly monotone white/beige.  Some fine tuning would help but still this doesn't look good at all:

Those greyish patches look like clouds baked in the terrain... certainly with such aggressive filters it's difficult to discern other artifacts, how can one play like that? :))) De gustibus...

BTW yes, the enhancement tool has its issues too, and clouds are the most evident... usually I test these apps from time to time, but I play mostly with the vanilla sim.

P.S.

Yesterday I ditched Lossless Scaling too. Too many artifacts when panning with the Tobii and anyway I can get decent framerates also without it, and with GSync, which otherwise wouldn't work with the app.

That's me, decent FR w/o frame generation.  I'm a rare bird who finds the panning and motion artifacts associated w/ DLSS FG in an RTX 4090 significant enough to never use FG.  Hopefully some day that will improve and I think it's possible but for now I'm okay with 40-45FPS.
