Hmm strange mine defaulted to 5 and it doesn’t let me change to 0.

Good to know thanks.  Something's wrong and not sure what's left to fix it.  Presumably not the PMDG 738 as I know you're using that plane or were.  After a complete (pretty sure) uninstall of the mod, and reinstall using the latest version and run as administrator still getting this issue where MSFS loads fine but once I launch the flight it progresses as mentioned about 3/4 of the way the sits there for I don't know how long, 10, 15 minutes or what have you.

At the bottom of that page there should be a reset to default button. That may reset to 0?

I think when you check the "enable cache" box, it will auto jump to 5, and stay there until you uncheck the box. Unchecking the box = 0.

One of the last options is "update channel", if you reset to "latest stable" it will check if you have the latest. The latest is 7.6.2. Whenever you update the version, then it will reset to 0  (the enable cache box will uncheck).

If you have 7.6.1, then you are not on the latest stable version.

Well, I had a major scare this morning. The first four flights I started, lasted around 20-30 minutes , and then my PC crashed, not to desktop, but locked up totally requiring me to power it down, and restart it. I have had around 2 CTDs in the last two years, so this was really bizarre, and frankly had me really worried. I then realized that I had done two updates, since yesterday, the first one was the Active Sky Beta, so I figured this might be the culprit. I reinstalled AS 8883 which I had been using since it was released, after uninstalling the beta, I started a flight, and same problem, so AS was not the issue. Then it occurred to me, that when I started the Map enhancement tool this morning, I was told there was an update, so I updated it  to 7.6.2. 

I then started a flight and did not use the Map Tool,. just default BIng scenery, and everything was back to normal. Hopefully that was the issue.

I had used the Google Map replacement tool in a couple of the early releases, but gave up on it in the end. Can't remember why now but it obviously failed to grab me for some reason.

Saw this thread and thought I'd give it another go, so grabbed the current version (7.6.2 at time of writing). Five minutes to grab, install and set up, and well impressed after my first flight. No cache, hi-def/hi-LOD or whatever it's called on, brightness down 15% and it all looks pretty good so far. Haven't done exact shot for shot comparisons on and off, but it just feels right so I'll leave it as it is for now until and unless I get any problems. I don't like to tinker if something seems like it's working well enough.

Only observation is maybe a minute or so extra on MSFS start up times, but I can live with that.

It gets my vote.

Also, if the dev upsells his app common sense dictates using the free version since he is in China.

After installing the latest version you just had to do:

Clear all data & Clear phogrammetry and check or uncheck according to your preference The cache Option.

When I launched the mod this evening, I got the update. I’ve used this mod for ages btw..

The simple option to enable or disable the cache seems to be back, so easy to just turn it off now!

Very nice. Could you post some more varied shots to show the differences with your color profile? I’d test myself, but am on a trip. 

Decided to try the subscription for a month. This is with Apple Map (Pro) in a hold southwest of Manchester:

Btw for some reason the app is working perfectly now, whereas before I would get tiles loading in distance + strange artifacts when using high LOD.
