I just saw benchmark results and those left me disappointed.

A review with benchmarks on a German website said it's very stuttery even with a 2080ti.

On the other hand I'm sure there will be plenty of testers here who will swear it's very smooth.

So overall there's conflicting information. As with all the rest, only the widespread reports of paying customers after release will give a reliable answer. And then of course it's still a pre-release for now, hopefully with the possibility of significant optimization.

Its sad, really. It seems the reviewers did not use any bench-marking software, and without revealing their specs and settings, its hard to make a judgement, especially when people are claiming the sky is falling, apparently without ever wondering even a bit if its a problem on their end.

I look forwards to myself and others being free to release flight videos with the fps and other indicators in full view, via afterburner or other software.

In the meanwhile, consider the smoothness and detail of the videos already on hand, and ponder what that says.

How something is performing, is a highly personal and subjective observation.

There's a lot of threads in here alone, with users complaining/praising how P3D, FSX, AeroFS, DCS, FS2004 etc runs on their computer. It's highly depended on how their current computer is optimized, what's running in the background, anti-virus systems etc... it's nearly impossible to judge just from a video.

To be honest, I'm quite optimistic about it - but I'll withhold judgement on MFS and make my own assessment of the performance, when I get my hands on it.

A French leaker with a middle of the road rig said in his YT some months ago that the stutters were only over high density areas like Manhattan because his connection couldn't follow the stream.

A reminder that the performance gains we are seeing in MSFS2020 are on DX11. They haven't even ported to DX12 and its supposed benefits yet.

So far, the main thing that folks are excited about is the scenery and pretty pictures. Based on the early results with the P3d platform and DX 12, I would sure question how well this Hi rez stuff may run. It will sure take a magic Video card with a huge amount of VRam. That is going to be interesting to watch in the future.

Interesting this is pretty similar to my current build that's soon to be retired, just got the I7 4790k instead. Was hoping to have the new PC, I9-9900k, 32GB of ram built and ready before the sim cam ou.  Wasn't expecting a release middle of summer, caught my by surprised.

so seems like the sim should run okay on the old girl, maybe a little bit to playing around in the setting to get the best out of her, before she is retired at the end of next month when i get the last few bits and put the new machine together.

Yes definitely, even better if you are running 1080p. I'm in the process of building a new system. I7 10700k, 64gb ram (used for video rendering). Don't know if I should get a 20 series or wait for the release of the new gtx

You clearly have no hands-on experience yet with the sim. My own rig is over 5 years old and was by no means state-of-the-art when I purchased it. There are indeed a few issues with the sim, but performance isn't one of them.

Just as I said, I'm waiting widespread reports and vids after release. Moreover the sensitivity to stutters is a highly subjective thing. I've grown to become less and less tolerant to them.

And what i did read there left me a bit disappointed and anxious.

It was stated the benchmark using pretty much the same Hardware as i do (i9-9900K, RTX2080ti etc.) gave a result of 68FPS average on medium details flying over countryside with a low of 25 FPS. Flying over New York 52FPS vs. 19FPS.

Actually i don't know what to think know. I was planning to buy the new sim right at release but taking these results into account, i'll pretty sure wait a bit and see what the reviews say.

I really hoped that the times of "Yeah 30FPS is really all you need!" were coming to an end. But i'm not sure anymore.

Maxing out graphics and expecting 200fps is not realistic given the visual fidelity on display. Have a sense of perspective, medium detail in this sim is head and shoulders above any other sim. Have a look a DF's preview and you'll understand more.

I've removed my version of the video link, just noticed @Baber20 has posted the same video, click on his instead 🙂

Nope, but maxing out and expecting 1080p @60FPS should be realistic.

You can still be CPU bound without your CPU running at 100%. You are core bound by the limit of DX11 and it's limited capabilities of multithreading. Until the games switch to DX12. High end system will be limited in performance.

How sure is it that they will switch to DX12 eventually?

BTW: Like your name and avatar. I'm like the biggest turtle fan(boy) in south-west Germany 🙂 Just love them and have my own (tortoise) who's ~30 years old. Also my nickname is dedicated to him 😛

We don't know but since the Xbox Series X is a DXR api and the game is coming to Series X. We can make the assumption that Asobo will convert the game to DXR api in a near future. that should bring us a good performance improvement.

Thanks for the kind word about name/logo. I like turtles !

It's not. Yes, this is next-gen, but it still has the same inherent limitations of other sims in that it's trying to do a ton at one time.

Very interesting video and gives some insight on performance.

This is like the 5th or 6th time this video has been posted in this thread lol.

Unless this was merged from another thread.

It shouldn't.

Don’t be ridiculous.

An add-on right two and you cant max out FSX and get 60fps a lot of the time, and that’s 15 years old.
