Grass Developers Deserve a Medal
That would kill the sales of the upcoming release of Ladybugs Simulator 2.0. Like the EyE phone App store you can sell any thing to this group.🤣

Rob - Thanks for the Guide
Thank you Rob!! Great job and I know it will just get better in the future. Your leadership and effort deserve so much more than a simple "Thank You". I hope the above mentioned Professor of P3d sticks. A very fitting title indeed!!

ORBX OpenLC NA (Part 2) release imminent
LOL! This should not come as a surprise to anyone!! The next time one of these Brain Surgeons trys to tell you that there is just no market for Flight Sim products then remember this day. Oh they will cry and scream about how few of us there are and how hard it is to make a living Ad Nauseam. How about this one, you are just a customer. You don't need that (fill in the blank). Well ORBX found enough customers to blow up several websites this morning.

MSI GAMING X GTX 1070 Review and 980TI Comparison Benchmarks.
shivers9 replied to HiFlyer's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcGlad I took a chance on a good buy for 980TI Classified. Should be solid performer for a year or two.

Prepar3d v3.x - GTX760 or GTX970?
See my post #8 above. I think for now 4K is the only thing that is going to give a good image and handle the weather performance problem.

Prepar3d v3.x - GTX760 or GTX970?
With that set up I bet you did see an awesome increase! LOL like going from C150 to a mustang!! Life is good when a plan comes together.

Prepar3d v3.x - GTX760 or GTX970?
I just took a different approach to Prepar3d performance. I just picked up a 980TI Classified from new egg and just happened to run into a great deal on a new Samsung 4K 28" monitor (UE590D) for nearly half off the retail price. I am not as big a fan of the really big monitors as others are. I had a dell 24" and GTX 780. Only was able to mess around with it a couple hours last night. All I can say is Wow!. Very smooth with very high settings and no more need for the Nvidia inspector. My plan is to hold out for a year or so and see what comes along. I have yet to see anyone on the Flight Sim forums with a "You gota have this 1070 or 1080" post. That leads me to think there is a lot more smoke than fire here with this version of the new GPU. I do think the future does look bright in the coming year or two. Only time will tell. Edit....I should add that this approach works for me since I don't fly the tubeliners ...only GA types.

Yoke Calibration Question
I ran into this thread today and it just happened that I have not been satisfied with my controls lately. To be honest I did not even notice that LM had changed their calibration software. I gave it a try and like magic it really smoothed out my inputs. Before someone throws a hand full of rocks at me....lol....I am sure that it's sucess will depend on your set up and aircraft. Just saying it is a handy tip from our friend Rob. We have all depended on FSUIPC for this stuff for a long time and like many I just have been going there out of habit.

How about a 1,000-core chip for our Simulators
LOL and still it will not run P3D smoothly with all the sliders to the right and heavy clouds!!

Dovetail Games Presentation @ FlightSimCon 2016
I didn't mean to wake you up LOL I may be wrong but I think the old flight school type stuff was borrowed from Rod someone another and either included in a release of FSX or was on a MS website. Been a long time ago. Either way it has nothing to do with the point of the post.

Dovetail Games Presentation @ FlightSimCon 2016
LOL 70% eh?? Is that a solid number from a survey that you are thinking about doing some time in the future? I never saw thoses results published and I have been around since Commador 64 and Sub Logic days...just like the one that was on display at the Simcon. I don't think it is all that logical to use a made up number to prove how logical you are. So when you do decide to do the survey sometime in the future put me down for yes....I has ever flown a real plane (maybe you meant to say "have never") Logicaly speaking of course!!

Dovetail Games Presentation @ FlightSimCon 2016
OK...I am not a fan of this project if it can even be called a project. I can not believe that this guy showed up at a flight sim show and gave a presentation on something that does not even exist. Flight School is nothing more than a rehash of older content from FSX. I am actually wondering why MS has not brought a legal action for stealing their content. Now the new Flight Sim that we all talk about. At this point it appears to be Vaporware. I watched the entire hour of dribble about no knowledge of flight skills, no knowledge of flight sim design, no knowledge of weather, and then the best shot he had was that he has one....that's 1 friend that is excited about flight school. He is going to make up for these short cummings by "finding the magic" that is if he can get over his fear of flying. I was expecting at the end of this mess to hear "The operators are standing by to sign up now. But Wait; call in the next 4 minutes and we will double your order for the new flight sim ( that's two complete orders of vaporware for the price of one!) that we are thinking about one day maybe. Just pay additional shipping and handling. Please allow 8 to 12 years for delivery. Offer may not be valid where sane thinking people live.

LM will release hotfix for P3Dv3.3 in a few days
Sure....understand that can be a problem. Many of these things if not most are kelp under raps but even short post after the fact helps us understand a bit of the background and more importantly it lets us know that you guys are all talking to one another. I guess it just makes us feel a bit more like we are in a small way part of the process. In the long haul, I think you would realize a lot more support from many more of us users when the trolls show up. LOL Thanks for the reply.

LM will release hotfix for P3Dv3.3 in a few days
Thanks for taking the time to tell us how things look from a "Dev's eye view". One of the largest "Bugs" that exist in P3D has yet to be made public and it is going to stop Prepar3d dead in it's tracks. It is called communications or really lack of it. Dev's that still come to this site almost never take time to explain a position or situation like you did above. As a user (and one who pays the freight) all I ever see of you guys is when something goes wrong or you (meaning all Dev's and not just you) have a new product widgit or something to sell. I think it would be safe to say that based on just general impressions of the tone and context one could very well believe that most if not all Dev's either hate or at least don't like Prepar3d very much and have been drug along kicking and screaming the whole way. I hope that is not the case but if it is then we are all wasting a lot of time and money. So just to be completely clear... This is not intended to bash or put down to any Dev. I am just trying to say that a bit of good news about what is positive and looking good for the future could go along way to change the tone of this forum.

LM will release hotfix for P3Dv3.3 in a few days
Well during most events that one needs to prepare for, there is usually sun, clouds, showdows on mountains and else where, wind , rain, people walking about, cars trucks airplanes, stars, choppers, tanks.....could just be that some members of LM Management have looked out the window or God forbid actually left the cave and went ....dare I say it??....Outside!!! :Big Grin: Sorry Spirit I did the quote wrong

FTXC2 reverting backwards
+1 to all the above I think. I am going to bed and see where it all is tomorrow. To be honest I am not even sure what I have right now for ORBX. This too shall pass LOL!

Probable direction that FSDT is going
You are right Fnav77. There are probably 100's of good reasons not to move to P3D. My post not intended to get people to convert. LOL It was just a comment on human nature.

Probable direction that FSDT is going
It is odd to watch all those who are so sure that FSX will never die. It is just like we humans and the certainty of our deaths. We know it's coming some time but our minds can always find ways that keep us ever hopeful. For some it's in the numbers from insane "medical studies", others look to some form of religion or cults. We are all guilty of it. We hold certain beliefs and can not imagine a different out come. Usually those beliefs are much deeper things than a hobby or game. FSXers seem to be an exception. They are a hardy lot for sure!!

Market research - Rendering inner structures of terminals
On the surface I see no need to eat up performance with such stuff. There is another side of the story for Prepar3d. We here tend to think of P3D as a "Flight Sim" because that is what we do. If you look deeper into things then you see that P3D is much more than a flight sim. It is an Earth Sim. and may already be a Moon Sim and Mars Sim. P3D is used for training a lot of different folks. I think that is why say a company like ORBX and others are looking at expanding into this area. Having said that, I agree that P3D should have a really big on/off switch for these cpu cycle munchers.

P3D V3.3 incompatible Sceneries
Bob...I think you are correct in that P3D is now and will most likely always be a moving target. This whole situation really goes back to the age old question of are we dealing with a game or simulator. If you think about it, LM has never included the word game in a description of their product. That distinction is important now because it appears that LM is starting to slowly apply more pressure on Dev's to design products that are more code and SDK compliant. Remember they have been very open about that intention for a long time now. If you look back to almost all of the Add ons released for P3D have been mostly developed for FSX of one kind or another and then modified to work with P3D. It just may be time for Dev's to start designing add on's for P3D Simulators and then try to make them work for the gamers after release. Note: the term game or simulator here is not intended to place one group above the other. Yes....to play in the Simulator world has been and will continue to be more expensive than the gamer world. This is where the moving target comes into play. In order for anything to develope and grow it has to be a moving target. Now it may be that Dev's are going to have to come up with some sort of new way of charging for the on going changes and growth. I don't know the answer but perhalps some sort of subscription based system is called for.

My New Old Add On!
Lately I have tired of waiting for the release of something from one of the good developers. I don't like drone operated tubliners. Don't care much for any of the flying textures on a string. There are some nice Turbo planes out there but never have really been confortable with how FSX and Prepar3D handle the engines. I was starting to wonder why I did this stuff at all lol. It really came down to the fact that what I really like are little airplanes with two piston engines banging away while I look down on the earth from 8000 ft as I bounce around. After some research it came down to the Real Air Piston Duke that just seems to be always around the bend and the much loved Milviz Cessna 310R. After a quick repurchase to make sure I had all the right stuff for P3D and the GTN 650/750 I was airborn and it just felt right. Flew around a couple of hours and landed back in Pensacola. I now have One add on aircraft on my system. Smooth and 40-48 FPS....heavy rain down around 30. Not bad. So in an odd way P3d v3.3.3 has given me a whole new Simulator!! This all started because I was getting bored with all the screams coming from the users of some very old scenery files as the Prepar3D wheels ground forward and consumed their airports. Progress can sometimes be painful. I always get a smile on my face when someone on the forums ask "Do I have to upgrade to the new version." You don't have to but keep an eye out for that big ole wheel of progress. It never stops turning.
