I am having a problem with my PTT operation. I am using two monitors, one dispaying the sim (P3Dv4.5) and the secondary monitor displaying Merlin, vPilot, Navigraph charts and Active Sky. This is the configuration I have been using for years. The problem I am having with the PTT is that I have to select the secondary monitor with the mouth prior to press my PTT key (currently Ctrl). Otherwise the Ctrl pressing has no effect. I am afraid that the problem might have to see with the two monitor configuration. Any help? I am running P3Dv4.5 under Win11. Kind Regards, Domingos

Hi, I am finally in a position to upgrade both of my computers from Windows 7 to 11. Yes, both meet the minimum Windows 11 hardware requirements. One of the computers (the one I actually use for flight simming and race simming exclusively) actually has a Windows 7 Pro licence that I purchased retail some years back so under a generous policy on the part of Microsoft, I was thrilled (and amazed) to note that when I loaded Windows 11 on that particular machine, it immediately activated with a digital licence. Although Microsoft was reported to have withdrawn this "offer" late last year, that only applied to people activating Windows 7 Pro anew simply in order to get the fre…

Apps like StartAllBack and ExplorerPatcher which overhaul the taskbar and start button in Windows 11 to make it easier to use. Apparently these will be blocked later this year in the yearly update to Windows 11. In fact, it may produce a black screen when you boot Windows (no desktop). This happened to me several months ago in the update to Win 11 22H2 (I had both StartAllBack and ExplorerPatcher installed). It took me half a day to correct the issue a year ago or so. Looks like Microsoft has announced they will block these kind of apps in 24H2.

Specs: i9 13900K RTX 4090 MSI Z790 Edge mobo 32gb Corsair DDR5 ram NZXT Kraken Z63 AIO. Windows 11 If I boot up my PC and start browsing, gaming/flight simming or even if I just let it sit idle, after about 10 minutes the CPU starts running at 90+°, however if I press CTRL-SHIFT-ESC to bring up task manager window and let it sit there or minimise it, the temp comes back down to high 30's - early 40°c and I can go on using the PC as normal. Pretty confident this may all be due to windows 11 running various background tasks, only thing is which ones? And are they necessary? And if not how do I identify them and deal with them? Obviously bringing up …

Hello, like everyone, my windows 10 install regularly nags me to upgrade to 11. Reading through this forum, it doesn’t seem like many have had an issue in doing so, but I’m wondering if there is are many tangible benefits to doing so? I use my computer solely for gaming, MSFS is my most frequent use but other sims as well, racing, trains etc and a few AAA titles every once and a while. I remember reading an article a while ago that it’s easier to manage HDR perhaps?

Hello, I’d like to be able to send the VATSIM/PilotEdge ATC comms simultaneously to a sound card and USB headset. Any ideas how I would accomplish this? I’ve used Loopback2 on Mac before and I’m effectively after the same program but for Windows. I’m happy to pay. Thanks, Mike

Having suffered with frequent lockups in P3D v5.4 unlike anything I’ve had before I was at a loss what was causing them. I suspected the overly aggressive virus protection in Windows 11 which seems very different to W10. Having found out how to turn it off permanently I’ve now completed 3 flights of over an hour each with no issues. Everything points to the Virus Protection being the issue. I have excluded Prepar3D.exe, several folders and even file extensions but to no avail. I suspect every executable you run needs excluding. I’d rather trust my own judgement. As the sole user of my PC I trust myself not to need this protection and have turned it off perm…

I'm furious at the moment and could use to advice. Today, I decided to install Windows 11 and was told that my W10 pro retail key would activate W11 without issue. So I went ahead and installed it only to see that it had not activated. After some head scratching I got Microsoft to call me and after 20 mins of time wasting and drivel I was told that my key had reached its limit and expired. My boxed retail version from Amazon. This shouldn't be the case. The guy on the phone told me to contact Amazon as it's their problem but I know it isn't. Currently, I have an unactivated version of W11 Pro on my machine that is useless to me and as the key has "expired" he to…

Hi. So I built a new PC, installed Windows 11, installed everything else I needed, and saved MSFS for last. Problem: the Xbox app needed updating, but the update freezes at 1%. Going through the Store's other app updates, all installed in seconds except Xbox, Microsoft Store, Gamebar, and Web Experience, whatever that is. I've tried every suggestion offered by every Windows forum that I could find, and still nothing. Reinstalled Windows, nothing, just those four apps refuse to update. For giggles since I had already uninstalled MSFS in my old Windows 10 computer, I uninstalled the Xbox app, then reinstalled it. Sure enough, it tries to update, then fails. Both computers r…

I'm trying to set permission to windowsapp directory so I can update nvngx_dlss.dll and still having problems. I can at least read it now. I followed this https://www.maketecheasier.com/access-windowsapps-folder-windows-10/ But during takeownership update, I can see permission denied fly by. When I try to rename existing file, it says "you'll need to provide administrator permission to rename this file". When I right mouse on the folder, under advanced, I can see my local account owns it. I sign in to my computer with a yahoo.com email address. In netplwiz, I can see my account is an admin. I go into Advanced Effective Control and select my…

Hi, I'm trying to set my limits on my joystick thru properties in Win 11 pro. `The way I use to do it in Win 10 was to go in control panel>device an printers>my joystick, and right click on properties, then settings. In Win 11, this is not possible. I go into settings>bluetooth &devices>view more devices, I find my device and there is three dots at the right hand side. Right clicking will only give me an option to remove the device. How do I go into properties for this device? Gnacino

It keeps saying "Pending restart" I restarted, and it just goes back to "Pending restart" After the latest Windows update I have this problem on my test system and not on my Full P3d Game system. Sometimes after the restart my system just power off or start normally ... but pending restart On the Microsoft Community it is suggested to reinstall Window via ISO ??? Any other solution? Thanks in advance

Anyone know of any problems running MSFS with Windows 11 Professional? AFAIK the only difference between it and home is "BitLocker", which I would not be using anyhow. Thanks Simon

I have been using GOflight's MCPPro on WIN 10 without any issues. Recently, I've had to install a new motherboard, cpu, and WIN 11Pro. To get the MCPPro to work on the MSFS defaults you have to install the GF setup which includes the drivers and the app GFDevFSX. Everytime I try to open the GFDevFSX app I get the following error, "C:\Users\g113\OneDrive\Desktop\MSFS\GoFlight\GFDevFSX.exe The application has failed to start because of it's side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail" I have tried all that with no help. I've also tried uninstall/reinstall and it'…

https://winaero.com/how-to-add-rtf-rich-text-document-to-the-new-menu-in-file-explorer/ In previous Windows versions before 11, right click the desktop brought up the NEW RTF FILE choice in the menu. This choice is missing in Windows 11. The link above is how to restore it. In the article where it says " 2. Navigate to the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.rtf key " , well his way to navigate there may not work. So instead, just click on Search and enter RTF. This will accomplish navigating to this key easier. i.e. this key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.rtf.
