Yesterday, for the first time ever, I started to experience the BSOD on starting my PC (specifications below signature). I looked on Internet and found a couple of suggestions like "Windows+CTRL+MAJ+B", "Windows+P", "CRTL+ALT+DELETE", and I could - on two occasions after unplugging all my USB items from the PC - revive my screen, I then updated my video driver to the latest, as well as any remaining Windows updates along with optional drivers updates, after which my PC restarted normally twice after the above. However, this morning, I am back again with a black screen upon starting my PC. I wonder what else I should be doing to eliminate this problem for good. …

  2. Hi guys, I wanted to go back to a previous NVidia driver but I can't use DDU any more because Windows 11 won't let you boot in safe mode because the Windows PIN doesn't work. I've tried removing the PIN but it just tells you to make one, and it then fails. There is actually no way in Windows 11 currently to boot in safe mode. Is there any workaround or way of uninstalling/reinstalling without DDU?

Hi all, i'm a happy user of win10 pro with no real issues to date, however as my pc is now compatable with windows 11 now that i've turned tpm on in my bios I'm wondering if or when i should bite the bullet and upgrade. As i've had no issues with win 10 what if any are my advantages to running win 11? Is it quicker? does it run the sims msfs 20, and 24 any better? I have seen loads of complaints about win 11 causing crashes non booting etc and this is also putting me off updating. plus i do not want all the word not allowed that comes with windows 11 ie cortana and the other bloatware that it comes with but if i am going to see some value to up…

I run MS2020 very well for over a year. No problems of stuttering. Saturday I updated Windows 10 to Windows 11. Since then I am getting stutters. This seems to be happening with various planes. FPS is fine at around 50FPS as it was before. I have updated my drivers, cleared my various cache locations. Not sure where to go from here. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks. Pat

Hi has anybody done the free update from Windows 10 to Windows 11 and how is MSFS working for you? Any improvement?

  7. All this developed post update to 24H2 and I'm perplexed as this wasn't happening pre. Since 24H2 update a few days ago I have tried installing the latest AMD chipset drivers as well as RealTek's very new drivers that may be related to this 24H2 update. I thought the chipset driver update may have fixed it but alas on my last flight it's back. I also did a clean reinstall of the latest NV driver for my GPU. If you can relate to this and found a cause/cure jump in. Thanks

  8. You have to watch this on Youtube, not here in the forum, in able to cut and paste his text into a command prompt running with Admin privileges. Windows 11 24H2 by default enables Windows Recall.

  10. I upgraded my computer to new CPU, GPU, RAM, SSD, PSU and did a clean install of retail Windows 10 Pro, upgrading to Windows 11 Pro. I plugged in the Thrustmaster Airbus TCA pack (stick & throttles) along with MFG crosswind pedals, after a clean install of MSFS 2020. Windows recognizes the throttle and rudder as "other devices", but keeps insisting the TCA stick is a "sound device" and kills my headphones. Plugging and unplugging the stick does not cure this. Anyone have any idea how to fix? Thanks!

  11. On two desktop PCs running 11 Pro the Home Screen (prior to logging in) shows weather and traffic information. But it’s for Birmingham. I live 60 miles north in Cheshire with my nearest towns Stockport and Wilmslow. Manchester is 10 miles further north. I’ve followed instructions on how to change my default location but it’s not working. Is this feature broken?

23H2 version of win 11 came out about a year ago. It would never install on my computer, even though my computer did pass the MS hardware health check. So I was stuck with Win 11 22H2. I tried several ways every month or so, including from an ISO file. Finally today I figured out why 23H2 would not install: KB5027397 update must be on your computer or 23H2 will never install Link to manually install KB5027397 from microsoft.com https://catalog.sf.dl.delivery.mp.microsoft.com/filestreamingservice/files/caa3ff4a-6420-4341-aeae-33b2d7f463be/public/windows11.0-kb5027397-x64_3a9c368e239bb928c32a790cf1663338d2cad472.msu After running that .msu, version 23H2 …

I downloaded the cumulative September 2024 update yesterday. I had taken a drive image prior to doing so since I do not trust Microsoft updates these days and at least being able to go back to an older build buys me time. This update was supposedly the one that "improves" Ryzen performance - mainly 4th and 5th generation but also 3rd generation like my 5800x3D. There have been numerous benchmarks run on the previous Ryzen KB update from August that formed part of this September cumulative update and whilst most 3D apps ran no worse or even better, some distinctly ran worse. Unfortunately I am in the "worse" camp with P3D performance being noticeably more stutter-fill…

So I've been putting off installing the windows 10 to 11 update but after a lot of reading and watching YouTube vids, it appeared pretty simple and trouble free. I finally did it this morning and as I feared, it f****** up a bunch of stuff. I first noticed my MSFS wouldn't start which led me down a rabbit hole culminating in Microsoft Store apps not updating or installing, firewall not starting and I'm sure to encounter other issues. Most everything else seems ok, it's the xbox app, which I uninstalled and now can't reinstall, Microsoft store, and gaming services. Losing my mind. Follow up many hours later: All my issues were caused by the firewall.…

Hello, When I am trying to install the recent windows update KB5040527 in Windows 11 i am recieving error 0x80070002. Its installed to 100% and then returns an error message. A manual installation by downloading the update package also fails with no error message other than "the update wasnt installed". sfc /scannow command doesnt return any errors. Simply use Stardock Start11. I learned about this right here at Avsim when Windows 7 came along. It was called Start7 back then. There a zillion modifications to the taskbar. I use bottom location, medium size icons, autohide, and 50% transparency. You could choose 0 to 100 % transparency. The modified autohide makes the entire taskbar go away when your mouse is not on the taskbar. Nothing about a taskbar is seen at all. It will not interfere with what you see when using MSFS. (use the "let Start control autohide" setting instead of "let windows control autohide"). You will see the entire MSFS display at the bottom of the monitor screen, no space taken by a strip for…

I am new to Windows 11, having soldiered on with an offline Windows 7 for my flight simming (and a legacy race sim - Race 07) for many years. I am noticing a strange (and admittedly not show stopping but annoying) issue where whenever I am running P3D, my legacy racing sim (Race07) and my "fool around for fun" first person shooter (Serious Sam Fusion), I am getting ocassional stutters that seem to last somewhere between a tiny fraction of a second to maybe half a second - and then everything is perfect again. This did not happen under Windows 7 though to be fair, although I am using the same mainboard, the CPU is now a Ryzen 5700X versus the Ryzen 2700X I ran under W…

I'm gonnna get a new PC that will have Windows 11 on it. I currently have Windows 10 with MSFS and all my 500 gb of addons. Is there any less painful and time consuming way of getting everything over to the new PC and Windows 11? I have searched and not found a satisfactory solution as most things concern just adding another Drive to the same PC, I get that. Do the files change with WIndows 11 and require a fresh install of everything again?

Myself, amongst thousands of others are having this problem. Message "Your device has developed a problem and needs to restart" All sorts of suggestions re the cause are offered but none of them work. e.g Try one of the many software fixes "Guaranteed to work" at a price. None of them do. Quite simple. Microsoft product is the problem. It is not your hardware, memory or other hardware issues. IT IS MICROSOFT.
