Hi, I'm setting up the new PC and the only thing I can't program on my little Orb Weaver like the last PC is taking a screenshot. I think it was shift+v. But not sure.

Whenever I took a screenshot it went right to the Pictures folder in Windows 10 but now I'm on Windows 11. I looked and looked but can't find a setting in 2024 for taking a screenshot.

I did a google search and there were a bunch of ways to do it, one with the NVIDA panel but that's kludgy as it was so simple just last week.

Is there a simple way like in Windows 10? It just worked last week in 2024 on the other PC.

	Much appreciated.

When you click the Windows Start icon, you always see the All Programs list. Here is how to add something into it:

Make a shortcut to the "thing" you want in the list.

Right click on the shortcut and select COPY

Open the windows run box (Windowskey + R is one way to do this)

In the windows run box type this: shell:common programs

(That opened the proper File Explorer folder for the All Programs list)

	Paste the shortcut there.

	Done.

With much help from this forum, several months ago I updated my W10 OS to W11 using one of those programs that bypassed the Microsoft checks. (I have a "non compliant" system).

All has been fine up to just before Christmas when I noticed that I was getting update failed messages. Before that updates were taking place regularly.

I checked and found that the update was reporting that it could not proceed as TPM and secure boot were not present.

Dear old Google showed a registry hack that I was assured would fix it.

	It hasn't.

There doesn't seem to be any practical downside to this at present but is there a permanent fix (apart from buying a new PC, which is out of the question)? And why now is it starting to complain?

	Any suggestions welcome.

A few days ago I contacted HP as my graphics card was playing up. They reinstalled my Windows 11! I have now lost my E Drive, which is integral and runs the Sim and other items. Do you know how to locate internal DRIVES, as it is not showing on Disk Management?

Of course this is a hardware issue, but an agent of HP chose to do a fresh install of W11. So far it has taken HP 7 days to come up with a solution, but as the PC is still under warrenty, Nvidia has said it's the responsibilty of HP, etc.

It's bizarre as the drive is physically there in the computer, but it's not showing on Disk Management!

I'm running the paid professional version of Fortect.

Any ideas how to retrieve this drive would be very helpful.

I have an issue where my PC is down to the left of my desk and the wire comes out of the right side of my USB headphones meaning that I have to drape the wire all around me. I am currently using the headset the wring way around but have the problem of the left channel in my right ear and the right channel in my left.

I've googled this to death and can't seem to find a way of swapping the channels in Windows11 at all - Anyone got any suggestons other than cutting and swapping the wires on my headset, which I really don't want to do or of couse I could get a USB extension cable.

I did find a suggestion about using Realtek to do it, but it didn't work and Realtek seems to have caused me nothing but problems, so any other solutions would be great - surely it can't be that difficult to do within Windows, though it seems to be from what I read.

Without this exact windows update, you may have no mouse or keyboad in Windows Recovery Environment (like when you do a Shift/Reboot). Which would mean that you can't fix windows problems that way. This could be a very serious issue if you need to correct something in safe environment.

The cure is to download KB5070773 if it is not already shown as installed in Windows Settings.

I need some help from the W11 boffins here and this nothing to do with simming.

I installed 24H2 a few days ago. First impressions, cool, no big upsets. Then I hit a snag.

It seems that 24H2 has managed to destroy the computer's connectivity over wifi. What do I mean?
I have various movie/music etc files on the computer. I could access them through a variety of apps such as VLC, Foobar2000 and the like and enjoy the view on the home theatre tv set.

Since 24H2 I simply cannot access anything neither from my mobile nor from the tv. I keep getting asked to input a domain name and password.
After numerous days of trying different solution suggested on various websites I finally decided to restore the computer to 23H2.
It is now all back to normal.

This is, obviously, not a solution as support for 23H2 ends in November and I would prefer be up to date with security issues rather than risk anything especially now that we are constantly connected.

	Does anyone have any ideas?

	Cheers.

I managed to get this installed from 11 23H2 to 24H2. MSFS runs as before, I see no difference. But there may be some small changes to fps performance, but I can't tell any difference.

Warning if you use apps found online such as discord to alter taskbar and other features it may be hard to remember how you have changed the windows registry. And then when you run the MS windows compatibility app it will say all is well, but despite that, 24H2 won't install. Windows 24H2 is now picky about 3rd party apps. It requires a reinstall of windows to proceed, which saves data, but does NOT save your programs. What a mess!

The only safe way to change the new GUI of 24H2 is Stardock Start11 ($10). It's 20 years old (it keeps changing the name). Very safe and lets you do almost a hundred options to change Windows to an easier and simpler GUI. Taskbar, Start window, Seach window, much other stuff.: It lets you choose between windows 7,8,10,11 looking interfaces, taskbar, etc. Mine is set up to look and operate like Windows 7, not Windows 11. It's windows 11 in functions, but with a Windows 7 GUI look and feel.

I'm probably in a very small club that still runs a Windows XP netbook exclusively to feed data to my weather website. On Saturday I noticed I couldn't access the data on it from a Windows 11 laptop. I need the link to feed the info into an Access database to analyse the data.

This process has worked perfectly well for many years until Saturday.

I did some searching and found KB5065426 is responsible. I uninstalled it but of course Windows wants to install it. More research and I discovered a utility provided by Microsoft that will block selected updates from being installed - wushowhide.diagcab.

Except they've withdrawn it for reasons unknown with no alternative yet available. Fortunately other sites have it and I was able to download it. Having uninstalled the update I then ran this utility and it displayed the problem KB.

I've now blocked it from updating. This is very useful for any updates that interfere with your systems.

But it won't do it until you tell it to do so by a command prompt. This video explains. Right now it can't fix because Microsoft has not yet installed the fixes in the cloud. They will come later when MS puts them there.

To force windows to fix before a windows bootup, you run two command prompts (run as administrator). And then do a "restart" in the normal way or run a restart command from the command prompt (all / should be proceeded by a space in any command prompt). It's at time 7:20 where he shows running the commands.
