I have a problem with Win11. The builtin xBox app uses the same registry value as my CH Throttle Quad, so the Throttle Quad is inop. Anybody know how to get around this problem? What happens if I delete the xBox Values? Does MSFS require the underlying xBox app? Ideas? Thanks in advance, Jim Driskell

I use Win 11 but with Stardock Start 11 installed I have a Windows 8 Start Menu instead of a Win 11 Start menu while using Windows 11. I have seen no adds whatsoever. I think Stardock Start 11 cost me $5. This Youtuber says Microsoft is flooding the Win 11 Start menu with advertising (which MS calls badging instead of advertising).

It's nagging me to upgrade but I'm not interested in doing a new clean install of Win 11 at this point. If you personally have installed Win 11 overtop of 10 please describe how it turned out for you, good and bad. No need for recommendations on clean installs I'm only interested in what happened to people who did what I might consider doing. Thanks in advance

Hello everyone. This week Windows Update started offering me again to upgrade my main rig to Windows 11 (specs in signature). I'm using it for mainly P3Dv5, MSFS and sometimes P3Dv4, flying mostly the PMDG, FSL and Fenix birds. Are there any advantages of applying the upgrade? I've just recently reinstalled Win10 because of a drive crash. For reference, I have a laptop (specs also in signature) which works beautifully, but I guess this one was designed with Win11 in mind. I built my desktop for Win10 and P3Dv4 (with a 1650) and upgraded it (with a 3060Ti) for P3Dv5.

I'm still on win7 and my new PC parts are shipping now, I have this windows copy installed for 10 years and while I would happy to carry on, it's clear I just can't. I can image I'll want use the new system for another 10 years, before get over-obsolete like now, I really hate not just switch system but even have to reinstall the same one. It seems win10 will EOS somewhere around 2025, So I'm thinking just go win11 to keep it afloat longer... But if win12 will came next year, then win11 might not do that all better on this front anyway, and there is tons of reason I hate win11, force online account is the start (while it can and I certainly will evasive that). …

I use Windows 11 [Version 10.0.22621.963] and start Prepar3D with SimstarterNG, a tool to start the sim with different settings or additional programs. Simstarter has always been configured to start with admin rights. I am using an admin account. But suddenly, Simstarter tells me, it is not started with admin rights, which is not good for the program to properly work. So the box has been unchecked by some ghost here. I'm the only known user at this computer. So what is this? Why does it change all the time, after I have it set again to admin rights? Dan

Always the same cryptic error message not giving any hint. Tested all hints found by google to make it run through. The update installs until about 40 % and suddenly stopps. I hoped after some time it may install better but no success so far. I could install other updated before never having a problem. Windows Feedback doesn't help either. Any suggestions?

Hi Everyone Ok ... this is an interesting one .... I have six screens in total and using the top three to span using NVidia Surround and the bottom three for undocking windows and using LittleNavMap All went well ..... the top three screens are being seen as one screen and the bottom three screens as 2 . 3. and 4 (This is obviously on 2 x graphics cards) My problem is when I start P3D it only opens up in one of the top screens ..... I usually either bump the P3D window up to the top of the screen or click the 'expand' icon in the top right of the P3D window and it will span across all three screens nicely ..... BUT not in this case .... I…

It was easy in Setings with windows 10. For windows 11 a registry edit is necessary. The specific key was changed in later updates to Windows 11, it is now TaskbarSmallIcons REGEDIT Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\TaskbarSmallIcons (make sure you are editing the correct key) ! TaskbarSmallIcons DWORD 0 is large icons. DWORD 1 is small icons. To see the effect either restart Explorer in Taskmanager or Log off and back on or restart computer

I hope I am putting this in the right place. My flight sim computer bit the dust and so I replaced it with a new one that has Windows 11 on it. No matter what I have tried (and I have tried many ideas from many sources) I cannot get FSX to run reliably in Windows 11, most of the time it black screens on me with music playing and a small spinning circle, it never gets past this. It has run once (after following advice from installing it on the Steam forums) and now mostly will no longer run after hitting 'Fly Now'. So at this point unless somebody has found a sure-fire way to get FSX to run in Windows 11, I will have to change software. I have a huge investmen…

After updating to Windows 11 I get annoying popups on the internet about approving a phone number. This video and webpage shows how to remove a Windows feature called Phone Link. It worked for me, now no more annoying popups when PC Windows websites want to turn on my phone. First of all Micorsoft.com official pages says you no longer can remove it. But you can using powershell. Here's two links to show you how to axe it, thus enhancing your security: 1) Open PowerShell as Administrator. Go to Start Menu > PowerShell > Right click > Run as administrator 2) Run the following command in PowerShell and press enter: Get-AppxPacka…

After the latest update, Windows Boot Manager has disappeared from the boot options in the BIOS, and when I try and restart it just comes up with ‘UEFI Interactive Shell v2.2’ screen and a mapping table. I have had this issue before but have no idea, and had no idea at the time, what I did to rectify it. Can anyone help at all? Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Is this a terrible idea? I have a 12900k, 3090, 64gb ram on windows 11. We all know p3d loves high frequency and core 0. Is is a bad idea to overclock just core 0 to like 5.2ghz in intel extreme tuning utility?

MS said it will be 'at least a year' after initial release before they will start charging for Win 11. That release was Oct. 5 2021. So free upgrades will last until 'at least' until Oct. 5 of this year. And maybe longer. It may pay to try and upgrade now where there is still time to test it. Going back to Win 10 is supposed to be easy (under 10 minutes).
