DX-10 Discussions, Hints and Help

I have followed Nick's guide and have setup fsx and NI for FAX with DX10. I have removed all components not required per NIck during nvidiz driver install. But I see the physx driver is still there, should that be uninstalled as well ? Thanks... Hari

Hello Some time ago Paul gave me the original Shader HLSL folder but I have since lost it. When I click on the link provided by Paul in this............ http://forum.avsim.net/topic/387343-the-how-to-doc/ thread I get the infamous error 404. This could be at my end but I'm not sure. Paul, would you mind checking to see if your link is not broken. I am in dire need of the originals so I can back track my DX10 fixer. I'm wanting to start from scratch and would like to be sure I'm starting over with the correct files in place. Thanks so much !

All, Is their an alternatives to Saint Maarten other than FSX and FlyTampa. I already had an issue with this airport using VOXATC, I can never get a clearance out of their I get Fatal error. But once airborne and can connect. Now, that I have installed DX10 fixer I get a big pink wall at the East end runway, right where the beach supposed to be. So, I think I'm just going to have to eat this cost of FlyTampa Saint Maarten and uninstall it, but was checking for an alternate first. Thanks, Ray

Any tips to reduce this annoying and eye-tiring issue for us ATI users? I followed the "how-to" doc with RadeonPro without any serious improvement. Airbus Extended is my favorite bird these days so i refer most to this particular aircraft. SweetFx also make the situation worse even if i checked SMAA off.

For many years I have been using dx 9, like many of us. On the otherhand, surely would like to move up to dx10. Currently my system is running pretty good with fsx. with all the usual suspect addons as well. My problem is that when I click dx10 preview in fsx, and then reboot the sim, my planes such as Pmdg are flickering. I use Nividia inspector for dx9 and I have a 780GTX. In dx 9 no such flickering on any planes. The reason why I would like to move up to dx10 is the issue about VAS, saving memory, and supposedly the sim runs even smoother. Hi All, I love DX10 with SweetFX and Shade. Thanks go out to Steve and PaulJ for all their combined hard work to date. I'm flying over a small part of the UK close to London City airport at 2,000ft and can see a pair of smoke stacks in the distance. Their smoke is blinking on and off. If I turn my lights on using the L key the smoke stops flashing. Any clues on how to fix this? Cheers Daz

Hi, I am using water 2x max. I have noticed the reflections of the clouds and land and autogen seem to flicker a LOT? Even the reflections off ships.... Anything I'm doing wrong? Il using fsx +ftxg + Rex overdrive. I have a i5 4670k @4.2ghz 16 GB ram 770gtx 4gb Cheers Ian

Free patches had raised my frames to some extend but i remembered that the sim was smoother than now with the Fixer. Are there any tips for this?

Hi everyone, I notice that the VC dome lights do not work with DX10. I can look up and see them on, however they do not light up the cockpit. Is there a trick to this by chance i may have missed? Thanks in advance... and Jim...here I go again, I know! Best, Jeff

I got a surprise query a couple of days ago, in that one of our DX10 flyers asked if he could use my banner - the blue mess at the bottom of my posts... so, 'yes' was my reply - 'of course', but it's left me thinking that we really do need some kind of "more professional-looking" banner than my original thing - so I'll throw it out there: Will someone - anyone - who can use Corel's Paint Shop Pro, Adobe's PhotoShop, or the Gimp freeware - get set down and come up with a nice, smart-looking design for a banner, 500 x 125 pixels, that will tell the world just how good this change to DX10 is? I've just noticed my Sun is looking like a weird big sploge in the sky. Is this a DX10 problem? Sun was loaded in from REX. (see pic attached).

Although I am thoroughly enjoying DX10 via the Fixer, I can't help noticing the absence of the AI lighting. Is this a known issue? Are there any steps to take to maximize the lighting? Kind Regards, Gordon Clarkson

With the latest build I can finally fly Day to Dusk to Night to Dawn without any issues. Impressive work! My FSX.CFG and nVidia settings are apparently not traditional but they've provide great results for my system. I've posted some video and screen shots over at the appropriate AVSIM forums ... I know it's good when I start recording. Big thank you and big thumbs up! Rob

I'm loving the fixer and all it has done for fsx,but I've had a sneak peak at another platform in development I won't mention for obvious reasons,but I will say this,it wipes the floor with fsx DX-10 visually even with the fixes we have a lot to look forward to in this hobby of ours

Is anyone experiencing no guages at night with the ATR VC panel. Daytime is fine. At night, the gauges have only a white glow. The 2d panel seems fine. Only the VC at night. tony

Ever since I installed DX10 Fixer I am noticing more cloud and water flashing. Which settings in the fixer or in the fsx.cfg should I try to adjust to reduce this issue. thanks.

Hi, I've recently made the jump to DX10 after realising that the new AMD catalysts drivers don't work for FSX ( Running 2x 6870s here btw ). I have also installed DX10 scenery fixer and followed the guide to using RadeonPro for AA. My experience with DX10 has been rather frustrating to say the least. I'm getting less than 12fps on the PMDG T7 with Opus, GEX and REX installed. Would appreciate it if anyone can take a look at the my fsx.cfg file and let me know if there's something wrong. I've been seeing some great water shots since the fixer came out in the various threads on the different forums. I'd really love to know everyone is getting that nice reflective & clear water. Mine looks like total garbage since my reinstall. It looked bad before on the 3.2.2 patch in the file library but also under DX9 something was off too, so I reinstalled FSX from scratch since something was corrupted. I actually uninstalled everything then reinstalled including to a totally new folder over about 4 days to finish all the addons. Then I added on the DX10 Fixer tool. Guys What are your favourite stable drivers for NVIDIA cards using DX10 and Steve's DX10 fixer? I tried the latest Nvidia ones (331?) but the performance seems a bit worse than my previous stable 314.14 drivers? Any thoughts? I'd like to experiment with other versions of the driver. I'm using a GTX 650 2GB RAM card. Adam

Good day folks, I've been hesitant to post this as I know the reaction among many will be frustration. I am a fond supporter of Steve's progress with DX10, and I have used it exclusively from his earliest patches to his most recent "fixer" release. Sadly, I have not felt that my FSX is operating at it's best potential for my system. I get so confused reading member's posts here regarding performance enhancing, and I am concerned while reading the success of others in maintaining admirable and consistent performance with similar systems.
