DX-10 Discussions, Hints and Help

Interested in getting DX10 Technology working properly in FSX | FSX-SE?  This forum is for general discussion of how to get DX10 working properly and settings.

@all I think it's high time to thank Paul for all his tireless contribution towards the DX10 project! From my point of view he's the pusher of DX10 with his patient way to organize, document and clarify all the important facts about FSX/DX10. His commitment gave Steve the chance to create the DX10 fixer and now we can happily enjoy the benefits of DX10. We're the witnesses of a new era in FSX simmering. Thank you very much Paul Spirit PS: Maybe I didn't notice some other helpful hands and brains, sorry for this and thanks too

I have an issue with the moon lighting up the ground way to bright in dx10 mode. I have Steve's fixer, fswc doesn't control DX10 whatsoever.

  3. Hi guys it's more than few weeks I constatly fly in DX10 with very good result on performance and quality. I love too much VC shadows that bring FSX close to real cockpit life, but I get jagged edges shadows and don't know if I have to modify something in my Nvidia Inspector or is better to wait for Steve Fixer, here are my NI settings: http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/1600/b0r4.jpg Another issue are aircraft external lights, strobo and beacon as you can see: http://img543.imageshack.us/img543/9130/fu3l.jpg is there a way to fix them or wait for the fixer as above, does Steve's fixer solve this issue? Many thanks for your help, Riccardo

H there I am experimenting also with dx10 and I am very happy so far :-) One thing that is very visible, at ORBX KMSO my airport lights (poles around gates and appron) are blinking in a constant pase, like it would be a redlight on top of a building. Is there a fix for that? Thanks McDan out

Hi Paul, are the setting shown in the how-to doc (dated Aug 31st) reflective of the optimal settings to pair with the DX10 fixer? Just wondering if you have any new suggested options for Nvidia Inspector to get the best out of the tool. Also, would you be able to please comment if you use any of the following items in your fsx.cfg: [Display] TextureMaxLoad=XX [TERRAIN] BATCH_AUTOGEN2=1 SWAP_WAIT_TIMEOUT=2 [sCENERY] MAX_ASYNC_BATCHING_JOBS=3 SmallPartRejectRadius=4.0 Thanks! I have 2 problems with the fixer. A) some of the buildings at my destination airport are floating in the air. B)When I'm flying at night the terrain below and/or around me gets lit up as I'm about to fly over it. Any one gets the same thing ? Thanks V My specs : i7980x @4.20 (stable)- gtx580+6gbram+win7 x64. I'm including 2 pictures so that you can see what I mean. My controller settings:

  11. Sorry to start a thread here, but my question was overflooded by others posting in the other thread and nobody seems to saw my message. Here is a couple of question : May be its a stupid question, but, should I install the fixer after or before others addons on fresh install ? And what if after that for next purchase and install ? (question base on the fact that there is no need for AddonConvertX, so what's up for futur install of scenery not really DX10 compatible?) Thanks and sorry for my English. Michel

The DX10 Fixer has fixed the flashing landing lights on my ConcordeX. Nice surprise (for me anyway). For others who fly this aircraft it unfortunately does NOT fix the greyed out HSI gauge when in full screen mode.

Now that I have The DX10 Fixer do I still need addon converter X ? I was using mostly to display AI aircraft with their proper livery in DX10 mode.

I'm having difficulty getting AlacrityPC to run. It looks really handy - something I was thinking about a while back. This is the error (image below) when I run the default vista profile. I have also tried creating my own profile but get the same error. Any help much appreciated!

I'll never go back to Dx9. Dx10 is so smooth its crazy. I tried 2 days ago but decided to go back to Dx9 because of the shimmering. Did a little more reading and found out that I can get the same 8x AA by adding MultiSamplesPerPixel=8 to the fsx.cfg file. After doing that the shimmering was gone and the graphics looked just as good as dx9. I have frames set to unlimited and have it capped at 30 in Radeonpro. I'm averaging 25-30 fps and its smooth as a baby's butt  . Only problem I have encountered so far are little black squares on the ground but they disappear after a while, and I cant use my FXAA injector anymore. Oh I also have bloom on and not noticeable loss i…

Hello everyone! My English is not good, Inevitably there is a syntax error.THANKS! First, I feel the advantages of DX10 1.FPS improve the lot,Set high, running smoothly. 2.Open lightboom not affect fps 3.Using DX10 mode, GPU computing would increase, the overall performance is better than DX9. I encountered problems Plug airport the night textures are missing. How can we solve? Image below: Modify the texture can be resolved? THANKS.

Might have been discussed elsewhere but there is a rather obvious issue when these transitions occure . It is in step and not very smooth at all. Is this also fixed with the DX10 Fixer ? Michael Moe

Hi All I've been using DX10 for quite a while now but relatively recently my fps has dropped to 10 :( I've got a reasonably well specced rig and I don't think I'm throwing too much at it. Mainly using Aerosoft AXE with UK2000 airports along with UTX and GEX Europe, REX textures, OPUS weather and Radar Contact. I've probably read and applied way too many tweaks to the stage I can't keep track of what I've done!! I would be very grateful if someone could take a look at the attached .cfg and NVI screenshots and try and point me in the right direction? Many thanks in advance Regards Alan

Hey everyone, I am new to DX10, always saw it in the FSX menus but I managed to ignore it and write it off as a failed feature of FSX that no one uses. I recently got annoyed with the constant OOM's that began popping up for me whenever I would fly into some of the newer payware airports so I did some research and found out about the DX10 fixer. I was really surprised to see how much progress was going on in the background to fix all the issues with DX10 and I was also surprised by all of the advantages to using it. So I sobered up and reluctantly switched to DX10 mode and installed the fixer thats uploaded to the Avsim library. For the first time in months I was able t…

Please, I need help on how to get SOME aa into DX10 preview. I'm looking to start using DX10, but man those jagged edges!! I tried the setting for Nvidia inspector on the "How to" document. I've tried the Fsg cfg [MultiSamplesPerPixel=8] entry. I get absolutely no change. It looks very terribly jagged. I've had the aa button ticked and un-ticked in fsx setting and no change. What in the world am I doing wrong?

Hi folks I flew my A2A piper today and noticed that the magnetic compass and oil temperature gauges were blank (black) when using the latest freeware DX10 shaders. I'm pretty sure that it worked fine with the previous shader version (v3.2.1). I'm running the latest (v3.2.2) from December 2012 (I can't believe its been that long!) and Ive got black gauges. Can anyone with the A2A Piper confirm my anomaly or offer any guidance to overcome the problem (short of going back to the original version  ) Thanks Brent

  23. have a look here. I am really impressed of the added value in the scenery appearance, e.g. colour depth, colour graduation. BTW not only for FSX relevant. Thanks to Jaydor. www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/58637-improving-fsx-via-windows/ Wulf

I've upgraded to a more powerful system for FSX and I've done a clean install and been tuning my simulator for the last week or so. Today, I enabled road traffic to see if it would work over photo scenery and how it hit my frame rates on my new system. I was using DX-10 (but I have not applied any shader fixes yet), UTX USA, Blue Sky photo scenery (loaded San Francisco Bay area) and road vehicle traffic set at 28% (airport vehicles, leisure craft and ferries.. were off). I happened to be making a FRAPS video at the time, so when this artifacting occurred - I caught it on video - it starts at about 1:12 and goes on for several seconds, then goes away: Here's the video, whi…

I was playing with DX10 last night in anticipation of the DX Fixer coming out, and noticed that I no longer see an FPS improvement with DX10. In fact, I was sometimes seeing a 25% loss! Before I was seeing some increase (can't remember how much) as well as some smoothness improvements. The only two things that I can think of that I may have done since the last time I tried DX10 are: 1) tried this: http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/58637-improving-fsx-via-windows/ That gave me a huge increase in FPS when using DX9. Maybe using DX10 is somehow negating it...? 2) I may have run my .cfg through the tweaking tool. I just read through the DX10/ATI guide …
