After a few years away from my flight sim I decided to get back into it. While installing everything I finally broke down and purchased Steve’s DX10 fixer. The improvement in the games visuals are truly amazing! Kicking myself for not buying this years ago!

Any of you know how to run Evans and Sutherland Novoview SP1 Visual System Diagnostics? It has been a long time since I have done this. Like 1995. I am working on a visual issue on the DC-10-10 Tanker. The visual displays are flashing.

The sim runs great, but these shimmers are awful

Just quickly, all of my still/non blinking lights work perfectly with Steve’s DX10 fixer, the problem I have are with blinking/flashing lights. All of these are square with a square glow around them. I am a bit of a newby to DX10 so sorry in advance if I’m reporting the obvious.

Any help or suggestions would really be appreciated.

So I finally discovered Steve's magical DX10 Fixer last month and been loving it since, but I find that installing any payware addon that adds more extensive contrails like Envtex or PrecipitFX causes a weird stuttering issue. The issue is not directly with the contrails themselves, but weirdly when flying high enough to get the contrails and then looking down at the ground from the plane. That's when the frame rate drops from a constant 30 fps down to like 20-23 fps. Only when these addon contrails appear and only when I look straight down at the ground passing underneath my plane do I see the frame rates drop. It's definitely the contrails as there is not stuttering before the contrails appear or after I lower my altitude to make the contrails disappear. This is issue does not happen with the FSX vanilla contrails.

This is using Steve's latest Fixer version. As far as I can find, there is no option to turn on or off converting effects in the latest Fixer.

Anyone else having this peculiar issue? Thanks.

When using bloom activated in SteveFX's fixer together with a REX sun preset, I found out the lens flare effect recieves accumulated bloom which makes the sun ridiculously large.

To prevent that i have tune down the Fixer option "Light Glare Halo" all the way to 0. The option "Alpha/Halo" has no effect on this. I suppose its the lens flare textures that recieve bloom by the sim instead of the actual sun textures.

Here is what it looks like with Light Glare Halo off:

However, this removes the shiny effects from all other bright objects as well. The SweetFX bloom filter has an option to "blend" multiple bloom effects instead of adding them. Now I wonder if there is some way to tell FSX bloom logic to do the same, or make the lens flare texture simply not recieve any bloom, as using SweetFX in FSX DX10 results in frequent CTDs.

The "Limit light scaling" or "limit environment bloom" options have no effect on this, as well as the "Light Glare Halo" slider itself doesnt change anything. The only way to get rid of the big sun is to turn it all the way to 0.

Another option is to simply turn lens flare off, but since REX sky force textures use FSX's lens flare logic to make the sun look less flat and actually shiny, I would like to keep it on.

Hi Steve, maybe I'm giving you something absurd, a few years ago I bought your Fixer from Flightsim store which is closed, then later I also bought your Clouds Shadows on FastSpring.
Unfortunately I have lost all data but I would like to fly FSX DX10 again, even if I just got MSFS 2020.
I kindly ask you if you can help me track down my two software that I bought if that's not too much of a problem.
The only thing I can give you is my name, because then I changed several e-mail addresses.
I thank you in advance and wish you a good and happy new year. Greetings from Italy.

Hello everyone. After some time adjusting settings in my FSX and laptop (see specs in signature), I was able to get a satisfactory setup, with framerate locked in FSX-SE at 32 FPS in DX9. In DX10 with this FPS lock, FSX feels smoother, but I find some annoying blurry ground textures:

	This is in FSX-SE, DX10:

As you may see in the background, the city textures in the background are blurry. However, this does not happen in DX9:

Can you see that these textures are crisper? All these tests are taking off from KMIA runway 9 and then, after reaching 3000 ft, turn right. I've tried changing LOD Radius (4.5 and 6.5), Texture size (1024, 2048 or even 4096), AF values (16x or 8x in Nvidia Inspector), mesh complexities (50 or 100), AA values in DX10 Fixer (2x, 4x, 8x), DX LOD Bias (-1.000 or clamped 0.0), Bufferpools, Affinity Masks (with or without), etc, but simply nothing works. I've followed both the DX10 How-to guide, and the Avsim FSX setup guide, but I still get these blurry textures. Does anybody know how to fix this?

I was using Steve's free DX10 shader fixers on Win7 Ultimate 64 with terrific results with FSX:SE. Either when I upgraded to Win10 or replaced my Video card, I lost in-cockpit shadows. So...wondering about the status quo of Steve's fixers, I discovered an updated and more feature rich version was being sold online again and bought the DX10 Scenery Fixer and Cloud Shadows patch without hesitation. I now have terrific shadow and lighting effects in my cockpits again and the sim overall.

Something I've noticed, is that when I access "Fsx Settings" from the DX10 Fixers Controller's menu, there's a lot of FSX.CFG settings, some of which I wasn't aware of. Some of them I've set, but over half are blank. I just upgraded from a GTX 680 w/2 GB DDR3 to a GTX 1660 w/6 GB DDR5, so I'm thinking I might need to set some of these or change them, but the "Avsim Basic FSX Configuration Guide" I originally used for my FSX.CFG tweaks didn't mention them. Meanwhile, a graphic of that FSX Settings form is in the DX10 Fixer manual, but no explanation of what the settings actually do?

I'm hoping someone here can give me some feedback.

These are what I have set in my FSX.CFG:

	CPU Manages Buffers (UsePools=1) (enabled/selected)
Graphics Texture Bandwidth = 4096
Texture Bandwidth Multiplier = 80
LOD Radius = 4.500000
High Mem Fix (grayed out, but set as "HighMemFix=1" in [GRAPHICS] section of FSX.CFG)
ProcessorAffinityMask (enabled/checked)
Core1 (enabled/checked)
Core2 (enabled/checked)
Core3 (enabled/checked)
Force VC Shadows (enabled/checked)

I'm not sure why Core0 isn't checked under processor affinity masks - is that correct or a mistake?

These are the settings that are not currently set in FSX.CFG:

GPU Manages Buffers (UsePools = 0) (disabled/deselected) Should it be enabled instead of CPU Manages Buffers for a more capable Graphic card?
PoolSize = NOT SET
Reject Threshold = NOT SET
Display TextureMaxLoad = NOT SET
Swap Wait Timeout = NOT SET
Max Async Batching Jobs = NOT SET
Fiber Time Fraction = NOT SET

	I don't have a powerful CPU or motherboard: i5 2500 @ 4 x 4.33 Ghz, socketed onto a Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3 Sandy Bridge-DT XE (unfortunately a CPU and mobo replacement are currently a possibility.)

Any info or suggestions as to whether I should make change/tweak some of the FSX.CFG settings, would be much appreciated.

I've tried making the 1/2 refresh rate work in my laptop, but somehow, it's not working. The monitor only works at 60Hz. I've set 1/2 Refresh Rate in Nvidia Inspector, and set full screen and FPS unlimited in FSX Steam.

The full laptop specs are in my signature, but I'll sumarize: ASUS TUF FX504GD laptop, i5-8300H CPU, GTX 1050 GPU, Windows 10 Home, FSX-SE running in DX10 (with the Fixer installed).

If I understood correctly, this 1/2 refresh rate setting will limit my frames to 30. However, in the lightly loaded scenario I'm using (on purpose), I'm seeing over 180 FPS at least. I was expecting to see no more than 30 FPS, and the same smoothness I had in my old FS9 laptop with FPS locked at 30. Switching between borderless windowed mode and fullscreen I see no difference in behavior. In fact, the only way I know I'm in fullscreen is seeing the option ticked in the menu. I'm not sure what do I have wrong, if my settings in NI, my settings in the Fixer, FSX, or my understanding of this tweak. Can you confirm me, please?

	Hey all,
I'm new to the forums here, but I've referred to Avsim before for problems with FSX.

Anyways, I'm trying to get SweetFX working with DX10. I have the fixer and everything else works just fine, but I can't get SweetFX working when DX10 preview is enabled. There is no difference in color/saturation and changing the settings for SweetFX has no effect. If I uncheck DX10 preview, SweetFX works fine.

Any fixes? Much appreciated.

	Hello Folks;

I am trying to get a clarification on this. Should the FrameRate limiter still be set in both FSX app (graphic sections slider) and also in the NVI "Frame Rate limiter?

The DX10 Fixer document stated for example; 60Hz monitor should be 31 in NVI and Frame Rate Limiter 30 in FSX and of course 1/2 in the Refresh Rate.

However, looking at recent posts you rarely see (actually haven't seen it at all) a value in that field in NVI settings. It's value is always off, the value set in FSX slider (30) and 1/2 refresh in NVI. Maybe those posts are generic and aren't taking DX10 into account hence the reason for off. There are lots of posts out there for NVI settings for FSX Graphics however, lots of them don't tell you if DX10 is included or not.

Another interesting thing I have noticed is my version of NVI has values like (~30FPS or 30FPS Version 2) not like the manual which is just "30" probably because it's an old version..

Any clarification and or input would be greatly appreciated.

	Kindest Regards.

	Forshaw.

	Hi all, and happy Easter!

I am running FSX in DX10 mode, using Nvidia Inspector to apply all of the DX10 settings, and of course the DX10 fixer

	Everyting used to run good.

But, I recently have upgraded some computer parts, and changed from Windows 7 to Windows 10 Pro 64 bit...

Now, all the lines (like taxi lines) are very shimmery...

Is there someone who can help me fix this, maybe post a Nvidia Inpector DX10 profile?

	Help is very appreciated

	Cheers, Wilco

I bought my copy of the DX10 Fixer from the what appears to now be dead FSS site. Well, it's still up, but doesn't seem to be hosting the updated versions and Steve seems to be selling it on another site now. Is there a way to get access to the new versions? Or will I need to purchase it all over again from the new location if I want the updated version?

Sorry, another AA question

Yes, I have read through many posts and the fixer website, but I am not quite clear as to whether the AA options I am currently using with FSX / DX9 will work under DX10. Like many here I can't stand any jaggies but with my older GPU I am successfully using 16xQ AA + 4 x rotated grid transparency supersampling AA for FSX under DX9. This gives me pretty good image quality with jaggies only in certain (very minor) situations such as the electricity pylons in my ORBX scenery. I could probably get rid of those using 4 x supersamping for the whole image area but that is way too costly for my current GTX580 and just cripples its performance (though I may try it again when I build a completely new machine late next year).

Anyway, given there is no demo of the Fixer program for me to try, does anyone know if I can still use these settings under FSX / DX10 and get the same result as I am getting now under DX9?

And is DX10 going to be "slower" on the GPU itself compared to DX9 if I preserve all the same settings as before? Perhaps it might not even be worthwhile trying DX10 at the moment with my old GTX580 and I should wait till I get more horsepower under the bonnet? I know DX10 is supposed to "free up" some CPU but in my configuration that probably won't make much difference as even my current AA settings are pushing my video card to its limit under DX9 - so my video card with its current settings are just as limiting as the CPU currently is.

	Thanks

	Hi,

I have a big problem with FSX. Recently, I installed some new aircrafts. They worked ok and everything looked ok, but then, randomly while I was playing with a plane's flaps, the whole plane became invisible. If I use the 1st person view in the Cockpit it's fine, but when I look at it from outside (from any angle) it's literally invisible, there is no plane (but the shadow and the lights are visible).

This thing happens with every single aircraft (even with the default ones).

Can anyone please help me solve this problem? I would really appreciate it!

Have a good day.

	Hello, Simmers! :)

Today, I flew with my PMDG737NGX in my FSX(DX10).

After I bought the DX10 Fixer which Steve made, the external shadows where just awesome.(It was quite more realistic and more accurate than before.)

However, Today when I flew with my 737 aircraft, The external shadows on some parts of my aircraft's fuselage didn't appear adequately. (To be more precisely, It was the bottom, center part of the fuselage which connect the body part and the main wing) Well, the other parts are good. For example, the Main Wing, Engine Nacelle, Fuselage and etc.

Is this a limitation of the DX10 Fixer? or Did I something wrong with my DX10 settings?

Thank you so much for your help in advance! :)
