Hi, Is there any way I can get the lights to work in Dx10 (w/Fixer) for the ORBX Regions? The lights seem to work with Global but there is a lot of flickering with the Regions Cheers

Hi all, From just prowling this forum, I have noticed more and more DX10 related discussions appearing. I am a tweaker, flies 30% and tweaking 50% (the remaining 20% I don't know what I'm doing), therefore always looking for ways to improve visuals and performances. After doing some reading primarily around this forum, I see there are many problems with DX10, thus the SteveFX fixer come into play, and it does look quite promising (ie saving lot of trouble tweaking manually). But I have a fundamental question to ask, is there a guide/s that explains how one with no DX10 experience could potentially move into the DX10 fields? On that note, can I assume if I ch…

Hello, I've heard a lot of great things about this new DX10 Fixer, including an FPS increase. I think my computer is still in the Jurassic days at DX9 (How do I check?). This sounds like a good purchase, but how does it run? Do you have to enable DX10 Preview mode within FSX to use this product? Or do I have to modify my AMD 6970's settings to change over to DX10? Also, how much of an FPS increase are we talking about? I'm currently running my NGX at ORBX YBBN around 8-10 FPS (mind you, most of my settings sliders are far to the left). Could I get up around 20 FPS in the same scenario with this tool? Thanks very much in advance.

Hi All, After reading and seeing screen shots of FSX running in DX10 mode I gladly handed over some $$ and got the DX10 fixer. One thing I noticed having converted to DX10 and enabling BLOOM is lights now do not have a soft glow/halo like I was used to seeing in DX9 mode. Is there a slider that needs to be set to show this in DX10? Thanks for the help! Mike

I am thinking of buying a2a 3d lights, I have enabled dx10 and have Steve's fixer. I primarily fly pmdg 777, level-d 767 and pmdg 747 (occasionally) Is it worth buying the lights, will I see an improvement ? Thanks... Hari

  9. After installing FSX Golden I am using only the settings sliders for "tweaking", and so far didn't even try to find where the "cfg" files are under my Windows 7 64 bit OS :-) The performance is great, and I have activated the "DX10" option, but didn't notice any significative difference (?). I have a Geeforce 450 GTX 1GB, thus DX11 compliant, so, I believe it could work on DX10 mode... What exactly does that option do? Should I enable it? Is it only usable with some specific add-on aircraft/scenery?

The other thread a bit downwards is not entirely correct. Compatible : FsDreamTeam GSX AS Mega Airport Paris Orly AS Nice Cote dAzur As London City airport FSDG-Djerba X As AES Sim addons : All scenery

I really want the star light Espcially after I saw this. How do I convert my old halo.bmp to be DX10 compaitble? Any help here would be mucho appreciated.

  14. I've got my new SSD installed and formatted and have now finished installing FSX Acceleration and the FSX SDK. First aircraft install was the lovely RealAir Beech Duke. I have also installed the DX10fixer which appears to be working correctly (all options available for configuring). Now I've installed it do I need to do anything more with it while I'm installing scenery and other aircraft or will it update each scenery or aircraft to DX10 spec automatically? Should I reinstall it periodically? Adam

  15. I just read something interesting regarding NVIDIA Inspector and Display Settings for DX10 Preview from NickN (the unofficial computer guru and FSX expert) - "In DX10 the application [FSX] will ignore any external AA and filtering commands other than the checkbox and dropdowns in FSX. That is another reason for the perf difference.. there is NO clean and sharp detail AA available in that mode. You are forced to run the low-grade MS hardware set level AA." I suspect this is the reason why I had the best DX10 graphics when I returned my display settings and NI to the default for FSX and turned on AA/AF inside of FSX. The FSX.cfg "tweaks" will still work though. He wrote …

I've been using all the free bits from Steve ( with great help from Paul J; many thanks Paul ) and I've sorted my fsx.cfg and nVidia Inspector stuff but now I'd like to start over with the payware fixer. What do I need to delete etc. to start fresh? If this has all been posted before, my apologies and please point me to the link. Thank you Regards Symon

Is there an entry either in Nvidia inspector or the FSX.cfg where I can undock a window and move it to my second monitor? Right clicking, say, my AP from the Aerosoft twin otter does not give that option. In windowed mode it is an option and can move it over. I'm sure it used to be available but that may have been in the dark old days of DX9. I've recently changed my graphics card to an OC'd Asus GTX 760. (any connection?) Thank you.

  20. The option is greyed out in the legacy shaders section of DXTfixer. My Globalenvtest.dds, ac_chrome**.dds and envmap.bmp files in the main texture folders are all stock FSX. Any other reason why it won't let me do this? Fantastic effort at fixing DX10 by the way - apart from a few baggage carts and buses at airsoft LEBL which appear grey at night, fixes everything else I've come across so far. Regards Rob

  24. Call me mad (?) but now that I have FSX running sweetly under DX10 I was thinking that it's time to remove FSX from my old 1TB HDD and put it on my brand new 240GB solid state drive! I already have a 60GB SSD for the Windows 7 OS but there's not enough room for FSX on there and would rather keep FSX away from the OS and program file folder/s. As far as I'm aware SSD's are significantly faster than an older HD? It certainly boots my OS much more quickly than previously. Are many of you running FSX from an SSD? Did you see much of an performance improvement? Any tips what/what not to do? Cheers Adam
